PervyPotter Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 DarkOne, the Nexus site owner was having a bit of a rant about the situation earlier today, http://www.nexusmods.com/games/news/12815/?
Guest Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 not much to say but he has a lot to say (5000+ words) http://www.nexusmods.com/games/news/12815/? about bethnet and modtheft (title shitty Skyrim reference) ~ DeathStalker (<-- 3dog?)
spoonsinger Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 "Indeed, everything about the Bethesda.net launch has stunk of “release now, fix later”." Ironically that's the basis for their actual game releases as well - but usually without the 'fix later' bit.

Guest Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Please keep the posts related to the topic theme. If you wanna speak about the new policy for reporting "stolen mods", then this is the thread. If not avoid posts like "I hate Bethesda", "I don't play FO4", "Why TES6 was not announced", etc.

Any time a mod is reported to be stolen, or use items from another author and the original author did not gave permission we will remove the mod. Of course only if it is ported to the attention of the moderators (PM or Report button.) And, trust me, this happens pretty much daily. What is going on on Beth.net is not our business.

Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I'm tempted to post this on nexus No matter how bigotry it may be, I have no interest in affiliating with console gamers and making console mods. I retired from modding for the public as is, so it's all gravy.Though, you can take it how ever you want, that's your perception. And the way it's worded is not the correct way to treat those who have a resentment. Nor is it the correct way to treat those mod authors here who have a resentment who have done a lot for this place. Check your attitude and come off in a more light manner and maybe people can come to an understanding. As a leader this isn't the correct way to lead your people. It's not a form of encouragement. Drop that hostility. It's not making you look proper. because lets face it. He's talking shit and acting like a kid here. As a leader of a website it's not good to let out your views like that because it's going to offend many people while others will praise it because they fucking praise anything the guy does. But it would probably get me banned because he probably would take it too much of an insult.

Having no interest is one thing, bashing them is another, I doubt too many people care that much about retired modders as if they aren't going to publicly mod anymore what value are they really to the community other than verbal helping other modders to a limited degree
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 No different than a modder's work that serves no purpose to those who don't care.
Halstrom Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 No different than a modder's work that serves no purpose to those who don't care. A modder that doesn't make mods is like a car manufacturer that doesn't make cars, I'm all over the whole "Someone stole my mod so I'm hiding my crayons from everyone" attention seeking thing
Zor2k13 Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hopefully the whole mods on console thing coming up for skyrim will only work if the mod is remastered to work on the remastered version which means right now almost no mods will work on it. But there is nothing to stop some console kiddie from using their parents computer to install CK then alter a mod to work with console and then say they made it at beth site. Maybe the goal of this mess is to cause the modding community to self destruct? Who are the biggest complainers about beth games anyway? PC users and modders right? So shake them off and you can do whatever you want to make money nobody will complain anymore.

Personal inability to create something is no excuse for theft, no matter how old the object of interest is or if the modder is still active or not.
AsariX Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Just a shame that DDprod's XBrick video was just a gag, I'd definitely support modders hiding lines of XBrick code within the PC versions of their mods, so if anyone else tries to port it to XBox without permission, they're effectively uploading malware. Sooner or later, the XBricks would get out of hand so badly, that Beth would scan mods for such code and instantly permaban those who upload such stolen mods, possibly arrange for Steam bans as well now that they want to link Beth accounts to Steam accounts. Ofcourse, legit mod creators including such code would have to be careful to clean their mods before making them available to consoles, or they'd risk the same fate.
DoctaSax Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 In my view, legit mod creators don't put any more code in their mod than necessary, let alone code that they know will wreck hardware.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I just find it funny how pouting and harassing and even quit from modding has all failed and said person still affiliates on that site. The whole thing seems to be attention whoring to me.
