Shout Like a Virgin Evolved LE

I do a shout, and the message which states the gods have heard (and thus the courier should arrive) appears. However, if I try to leave a building to find the courier (triggering a loading screen as it should), the game CTDs.

I've reinstalled Zaz, and every other mod I have that uses it has run fine without issue. I even performed the "Zaz animation test" found in the mod menu - it worked perfectly.  I've never seen the courier, because transitions I would expect to trigger her just lead to crashes.

Ok I've not seen anything like this in a long time so going to need lots more info so then I can hopefully find a solution.

  1. What version of this mod?
  2. This is your first use of this mod correct? So you are not upgrading.
  3. Started this mod with a new game or started with a saved game?

A CTD upon meeting Cassia (the courier), could be caused by devices she wears, and so the obvious candidates to start with become the related mods Zaz and Devious Devices. Since the "Zaz animation test" is a pass, we can be almost certain it's not a Zaz.

But since you seem to be describing a CTD that's only through a door, we can't assume Cassia is on the other side. I'm not sure we can assume this has anything to do with the courier. To try and sort that out...

  1. Before you do that first shout and see the awakening gods message... can you confirm you can go through a door and also fast travel with no CTD?
  2. Next go out to an exterior area, and do that first shout
  3. In order to trigger the coming of Cassia, instead of using any door, fast travel someplace (this may require two trips)
  4. Did you see Cassia? Did you CTD?

If you get a CTD with those step, please grab and attach for me, your papyrus log from it. Info on how to get your papyrus log is in FAQ #12 in case you need it.

Another test to get more info. Do these steps just for the sake of testing...

  1. Start a new game
  2. In MCM Misc Tab, use the "Skip Initial Portion of Story" option. This will equip a bunch of devices
  3. Did the devices successfully equip with no CTD?

I appreciate your dedication to finding a solution - not many modders are actually willing to help when needed. :)

First round of Q's:

1. Version 3.5

2. First time use was shortly before I first commented on here, so no updates have been needed

3. I've tried both, but Zaz only passed with a new game, so going to use that for the tests.

I can confirm fast travel and door usage without issue before shouting and seeing the gods' message - I'm about to perform the other tests you asked and will let you know.

I got a CDT after fast travelling twice, so attaching my papyrus log. Also got a CDT shortly after all the devices equipped upon triggering "Skip Initial Portion of Story"

Interesting thing, might be related: I had my character shout and ran around a bit in the game (about a minute or two) in an attempt to generate a papyrus log. Just ran around and fought two wolves, nothing else - and the game crashed again. It's never done that, so it might make a difference in figuring this out.

Its not certain, but I think you crash when devious devices are in use. When the courier is close (she's wearing devices), and then when you wear them in the 2nd test.

You have 1038 error messages. Most of them are about Racemenu... here's the first ones...

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:40AM] Cannot open store for class "RaceMenuLoad", missing file?
[01/17/2017 - 12:19:40AM] Cannot open store for class "racemenubase", missing file?

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:40AM] ERROR: Failed to find variable ::_targetActor_var used in RaceMenuPluginXPMSE.OnSliderChanged()

Later on there's...

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:41AM] ERROR: Unable to bind script RaceMenuPluginSoS to RaceMenuPluginSoS (18000804) because their base types do not match

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:41AM] Cannot open store for class "uilistmenu", missing file?

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:41AM] ERROR: Unable to bind script _lp_bardsongbookscript to Item 1 in container (2105075C) because their base types do not match

Racemenu looks like it's not functioning at all and this could certainly cause CTDs and be related to what you wear.

Are you sure this is a brand new game?.... you did not start by loading some early save? Because this feels like the log of a corrupt save.

I'd suggest using process of elimination to fix.... meaning you  disable all non-essential mods, then use the same tests (new game only), adding mods back till you find when one goes wrong. And looking at your log to see that you have no errors. Couple dozen can be normal as some will have no consequence, but 1000+ in a new game is far from normal.

Make sure you sort your mods when you do this. (you use Loot or something for that?)

Racemenu is part of the essentials, so got to sort that one out and you might start there.

Alright, I think I might need a bit of help here.

I installed SlaV (+all Reqs. of course) and started a brand new game. After the first shout, the girl appeared upon my return to Whiterun from the Watchtower and handed me the letter form Dibella. I read it. Though regardless of how often I used the shout again, nothing further happened.

It was some time before I realized that I needed to use a different shout than the first one you get to make Nocturnal appear.

Well, she appeared and the scene played out with my character getting some devices on her, some talking etc.

Then, the quest "Dare to Shout Like a Virgin" completes and the quest "Virgin Trainign" starts, telling me to go worship the shrine of Clavicus Vile.

And at exatly this point, as soon as I dismiss the 2 popups about the shrine (and the quest "A Daedra's Best Friend"), the game crashes back to desktop. Every single time I try to go through the process.

To make sure it isn't just a coincidence, I tried to trigger the scene in different places. Out on a mountain, in Whiterun, in Dragonstead Manor and in the qasmoke cell. The result is the same. The game always crashes a few seconds after starting the "Virgin Training" quest.

I have attached a papyrus log, though I am unsure of if it will actually help.

attachicon.gifPapyrus.0.log

(I created the log by loading my initial "Start" save (in the Live another Life Cell) and then the current gameplay save, quicktravelling to Dragonstead Manor, entering it and then triggering a shout to make the scene start.)

It was some time before I realized that I needed to use a different shout than the first one you get to make Nocturnal appear.

Not true. When the mod is functioning normally, your first shout works, just like it worked to trigger your meeting with Cassia.

Your initial "start save", according to the log, is not healthy. It starts with hundreds of errors like these (just pasted the first few). Some could be meaningless, but hundreds is not normal.

[01/16/2017 - 11:08:05PM] Cannot open store for class "xxbrandingdevicescript", missing file?
[01/16/2017 - 11:08:05PM] Cannot open store for class "xxbquestscript", missing file?
[01/16/2017 - 11:08:26PM] Cannot open store for class "CDxFramework", missing file?

[01/16/2017 - 11:08:26PM] ERROR: Unable to bind script traptriggerbase to TweakTraps (7A00C515) because their base types do not match

You say you started a new game. If that start save producing the log is the new game, its very hard to imagine it's actually a new game. Errors like this suggest its a game that's had many cases of breaking what I call the golden rule.

I don't see any errors from this mod which is good but also does not help point to the problem. But the problem in general would appear to be a corrupt save.

If you are indeed not really starting a new game, you might try starting one

or.... In order to help you any further, get me a log that's produced using these steps, and let me know the results (questions in these steps)...

  1. Start brand new game (no loading any save)
  2. In this mod's MCM first tab, use "Verify Zaz Animations Working". Does this test pass?
  3. In MCM last tab, use "Skip Initial Portion of Story". Any issues or CTD? Did you get equipped with devices?
  4. Check that Sexlab is happy... in it's MCM, last tab, look under System Requirements. Is everything listed as OK?
  5. Exit to desktop and grab the log for me

First of all, thank you for a very quick reply. :)

For an explanation what I was referring to with "Start Save":

Since I have a lot of mods installed, many of which have extensive MCM settings, it is my habit to create what I call a "Start Save" whenever I make changes to my mod list. (Be it adding, removing or updating mods.) That saves me the trouble of going through the process of recreating my character and then spending the better part of 2 hours to set the MCM menus as I want them if I decide to start over with the same character.

Second, yes, after I installed SlaV and its requirements (some soft requirements like the Doom Machine and Slavetats are not installed), I started a brand new game, and created my "Start Save" from that point.

I did do another test. I started another new game from scratch, then immediatedly saved and exited once all the mod status message in the upper left corner were done scrolling through. Then, I looked at the papyus log and isolated all the mods that had caused papyrus errors so far (ignoring expected errors like some mods cause when looking for installed mods to hook to, like for example SanguinesDebauchery looking for Captured Dreams).

Your results for 2, 3, and 4, suggest that this mod is happy and has everything it needs to run.

There's 411 errors. Some may be normal for the respective mod, but this still seems crazy high, particularly for a new game. You must run a lot of mods. I was trying to see which seem a potential source for your given CTD.

I see 60 for zadxlibs (which is devious devices). Since this mod relies on DD, it would be my first concern.  60 that look like this... But I don't know what could cause it.

[01/17/2017 - 12:10:32PM] ERROR: Property EbharnessLocking not found on zadxlibs. Aborting call and returning None

	[iDDeMCMConfig (68000D63)].iddeconfig.OnInit() - "SKI_ConfigBase.psc" Line ?

Unfortunately I think the only way to sort this out is to temporarily disable (don't need to uninstall) all but the bare requirements. Start a new game and see if you CTD, using your known case of a CTD. Then start adding mods back in till you see where it goes wrong.

You might use that approach but start first by just disabling a few big non-essentials.

You must run a lot of mods.

Oh, not that many. 423 according to Mod Organizer. ^_^" (I did need to merge quite a few .esps to fit them all. Especially weapon and armor mods.)

I do not have time to go through the rather long procedure of testing mods one by one at the moment, but I will see about it once I have that time. Thank you for your input, VM. I appreciate it. :)

P.S.: The errors in the papyrus log pertaining to SlaV are harmless?

You must run a lot of mods.

Oh, not that many. 423 according to Mod Organizer. ^_^" (I did need to merge quite a few .esps to fit them all. Especially weapon and armor mods.)

I do not have time to go through the rather long procedure of testing mods one by one at the moment, but I will see about it once I have that time. Thank you for your input, VM. I appreciate it. :)

P.S.: The errors in the papyrus log pertaining to SlaV are harmless?

virginmain.OnUpdateGameTime()  - is concerning. Not normal. But I see the periodic check it's responsible for occurring, so hard to say if harmless.

SKI_ConfigBase.... MCM based one  - appears to be the main error you have occurring for other things too - no idea why MCM is having trouble but not a good sign. Not normal

SetToggleOptionValueST - normal and harmless

Hi, I have to report that this

New - Word Wall Love - Gone are the days when you simply walk up to a word wall to learn a new word. Now to gain that intimate knowledge, you need to "love" the word wall. Is a new animated encounter.

Give to me a strange animation, where all was playing ok except for the arms: the right one was glitching in the middle forearm and only other movements was from the waist bottom. The animation test runs OK, other animations too, only thing I've recently update Zaz to the new version... Can it give errors as mine?

This is normal. The animation is from WhippinGirl's Whips 'N' Chains (as seen in my Credits). I cannot fix the imperfection.

No problem, was only to check if could be considered "normal" or I messed up with something... Now I know it's OK, can continue with the playtrhoug, it seems to be an exciting mod and I'm looking forward to play it 'till the end! :) thank you :)

I see 60 for zadxlibs (which is devious devices). Since this mod relies on DD, it would be my first concern.  60 that look like this... But I don't know what could cause it.

According to Inte, those kind of errors are supposed to be harmless. They are supposedly leftovers from earlier versions of DDx and pertain to items no longer inlcuded in the mod, but still checked for by DDe.

I am still investigating the other errors whenever I have a bit of spare time. (Which isn't much atm.)

I never see them in my log. Seems to me that even if that's a correct interpretation of the error, having 60 of them in a short time could be the source of a CTD.

Could it be that you have not updated all 3 DD components to latest version, thus this error?

It's the opposite, DDe hasn't been updated to the latest DDa/DDx/DDi. DDe tends to build arrays (forms?) with the different devices available in various mods (Captured dreams, the DD libs, Cursed loot, SD+) then use that database to dress up the player, either by direct request from the player or through another mod like Prison Overhaul. Another effect DDe has is to register texture variants of the available devices and make them usable by their mods of origin, which is quite nice.

@Twycross448

Would be worth trying DDe disabled to see if it's the source of your CTD

I think I found the culprit. It seems on my machine, there is a certain incompatibility between Shout like a Virgin and Deviously Cursed Loot.

After disabling DCur in it's MCM menu, I was able to progress quite a bit. Currently trying to loose virginity before reporting back to the sepulchre after receiving the 2nd letter from Nocturnal (via Cassia). Have banged 3 lovers so far, plus 2 dogs and 1 horse. Funny though that SlaV still considers me a virgin accoring to the MCM menu status display. Seems it does not register me having sex at the moment. ^_^" But hey, no crashes so far, so that's good, right? ;-)

Cursed Loot is one mod that is always there for all my testing. So normally this would not be a culprit.

As for not registering you having some loving/losing virginity, I suppose it could be due to things not fully healthy in your install, but the first thing to ask would be... are you sure you are not wearing a chastity device?

No idea. I can only say that after I turned it off, the crashes stopped.

Yes, I am sure I am not wearing a device.

I assume you use variables to keep track ofvirginity status, number of intercourses etc., no? What are the corresponding variables, if I may ask?

Most likely this means this mod is not able to register events with sexlab. If it can't register any events at all, this mod's shouts are not going to work.

With something as fundamental as this, you can likely expect many other problems as you get deeper.

The virginity stat variables are named AnalCount, OralCount, and ViginalCount. (yes my spelling is funky on one of them!) Each is directly exposed in MCM first tab.

Well, the Thu'um of Love shout (I have 2 of the 3 words so far) does actually work.

So there is *some* connection to Sexlab.

The variables AnalCount, OralCount and ViginalCount however are somehing else entirely. They simply do not exist in my game. (At least they don't show up if I open the console, then type "help OralCount 3" or "help AnalCount 3" or "help ViginalCount 3" and hit enter.

So it seems for some reason the mod was not initialized correctly back when I started the game.

(That could be worth implementing into the MCM at some point. A "Reset/Fix Variables" option.)

I'll continue to try things and will let you know what happens. :-)

Help only shows global variables. These are not global. The variables are fine.

The mod already does extensive things to ensure resiliency during init. For example some registering I've mentioned will retry, and big things are in delay so as not to overload when all the other mods init.

I'll continue to try things and will let you know what happens. :-)

You need to fix the install problem, otherwise anything you find will be noise. Since I know Cursed Loot does not conflict with this mod, I know you've only got a bandaid. Have you tried removing DDe which has not been updated for the latest DDi? Perhaps it's interaction with Cursed Loot is why you CTD. And if you try this you'd need to ensure you are not breaking the golden rule (i.e. would need to start a new game).

Here you write what Deviosly Cursed Loot is not disruptive to the plugin. I suppose he removed  "the belt of chastity KORUS" and "training plugs" and replaced them with "slavish chastity belt" and the "cursed plugs" during the quest, rescue Cassia. Well I have had the keys to all this and I was able to continue the quest.

[01/17/2017 - 12:19:40AM] ERROR: Failed to find variable ::_targetActor_var used in RaceMenuPluginXPMSE.OnSliderChanged()

I got RaceMenus working after a fresh install, but even with a brand new file, using only the necessary mods, it's still CTD when I attempt to skip the initial intro and/or trigger the courier scene.

  5. Keep playing till it CTDs. Then grab the log.

Tell me exactly when it CTDs, and details fro each question in the above items.

As mentioned before what you are calling a new game did not appear to be so in the log. This mod logs if it's initialization for a new game so I will know. Please do this on a new game.

I am now in the process of setting up a slightly slimmed down version of Skyrim (read: removing a couple of mods from MO).

So far I kicked out A Foresworn Story, From the Deep, Ravenous, Sisterhood of Dibella, Sexlab Stories (+Addons), CCAS for LaL, Devious Devices Equip and Deviously Cursed Loot.

I now need to remake the bashed patch, the TES5 merged patch, FNIS, Dual Sheath Redux and my own NPC merged patch, which will take some time.

I'll let you know once I have started a new game with this slightly slimmed down Skyrim and progressed to a point where I can say anything about SlaV.

Thank you for your patience, VM.

EDIT about half a day later:

I kicked out the abovementioned mods, remade all the patches and started a new game from scratch.

Initial tests where done via the MCM menu (both the test option on the first "page" and the skipping option on the last "page" of the MCM menu worked without any problem.)

It then took some time until I had played to a point where I could test the mod during normal gameplay. The results where more or les the same as before.

1. still have the "problem" that whatever shout I use to start the mod (causing the first appearance of Cassie who gives me the letter from Dibella) then cannot be used a second time to trigger the first appearance of Nocturnal. It has to be a different shout.

2. scenes play out without any appearant problem

3. the mod is still unable to detect virginity status correctly - regardless of how much sex I have, it still reports Virgin: Yes and Oral-, Anal- and Viginal-Count 0.

I'm out of time now, but I guess over the weekend I will need ot kick out even more mods and try again.
