IMO unless the Automatron consist of a massive quest line

There better be a decent questline! According to beth Automatron is worth 10 bucks, NV dlc were worth 10 bucks and they had everything, good story, new area, new armor/weapons and more.

I expect the same from Automatron. Oh who am I kidding, it's probably going to be like heartfire...

At least it is not horse armor

They are holding back the geck to squeeze money out of the community. If it was out, I doubt anyone would buy these dlc. Most of them have had comparable, if not better mods made by modders for thier other games.

People will still buy them because mods for FO4 will have dependencies for dlc's. And also because a lot of people enjoy the game.

This argument wears on me. Like every game and every asset is already finished, but companies just sit on them to maximize their profits.

You are right and a tad wrong at the same time, I am sure the dev's hearts are in the right place. But I have worked for the devil, well not literally. But for a couple of greedy companies Cox Communications and Dell. That work with other lesser devils like Sony and Microsoft, and yes they scheme to rob you of every cent they can.

I have sat in a few of their cult meetings and listened to the bean counters devise ways of torturing customers into premium services like preferred support and paying for stuff that is free. Mega game corps are no better, that is how we wound up with season passes and dlc that is crap.

Does anyone know the name of the font used for Automatron?

Or one a lot like it?

Also, why is Fallout 4 General Discussion hidden unless logged in? :P

Oh wow, so they remove the water stuff to make as DLC, shocker. Next Gen Streamline right Howard?

Oh wow, so they remove the pit content to make as DLC involving the wasteland creatures instead for Pokemon Stadium knock off purposes, shocker. Next Gen Streamline right Howard?

Oh wow lame DLC involving more guns going off and crafting and flooding the wasteland with robots, shocker. Next Gen Streamline right Howard?

Oh wow increasing the season pass price for crappy DLC, shocker. Next Gen Streamline right Howard?

Lets give this guy another 'life time achievement award' for fucking us over again and again and again and again! :D :D

At least its not ALL dungeon crawling....hopefully. Skyrim was just as bad. They don't seem to change one thing. Thankfully modding will take care of the mess they left behind to pursue additional piles of dung.

So they give us a big world with not a whole hell of a lot to do, and then sell us questlines and modder-scale mechanics for as long as we're willing to play along. I guess that's one reason they're dragging their feet on the CK front: they'd look pretty silly selling us a tarted up version of "RobCo Certified" if the original author had already released an update of the mod.

I honestly think I'll find something else to do for a couple of years. Maybe come back when you can get the whole lot for 20 quid on Steam sale. It'll probably take that long before we get a stable modding framework anyway.

Lord, but this company makes me feel cynical sometimes.

Well at least I can see some interesting mods coming out that interact with the Automaton DLC and the Workshop one.

As for deciding if the DLC announced by Bethesda are worth it or not, I will reserve my judgement because we dont even have any kind of real information on them yet.

But honestly if they just released the CK which is what everyone wants they could take their time to release the DLC.

Still.. the Automaton DLC and Workshop DLC are..... modded type of DLC..... geez give us the CK already and then think carefully about what DLC you will make Bethesda...

At least they cut the work in half with Automaton DLC and Workshop DLC for the modders.

Well. They say new DLCS are coming... So if i have to look into the past... After these three, there will be one more to go.

oblivion -10

fallout 3 -5

fallout new vegas-5

skyrim-3

3+1=4

? if me, of you forget one think.

Nah i did not forget.

Morrowind -> Bloodmon, Tribunal -> expansions, not DLC[well now we can call them like that.] But we got unimportant stuff like

_> La Femme Armors, Area of effects Arrows, Firmounth Stronghold, Sounds of Coast...

Oblivion -> 6 out of ten could be easly made 1 dlc, but they wanted to make impression of making more, thats why we get pirate lair... castle... and many other useless stuff i never used in the game + horse armor.

Fallout - True, we got 5 mini-expansions.

FNV - Mostly, we get 4, im not looking at Gun runners and starter packs.

Skyrim - Dawnguard + Dragonborn + heartfire. Yea you got right, its 3. But you forgetting about.... Hi-rezolution Textures![that sucks btw]

So yea i made mistake saying that they made always four but... Look, looking at the bigger picture. What of that stuff was realy important? I mean they will treat Robots dlc important... And they will treat Nick's DLC important. And what we can get? 1 big expansion? Propably, but no more. Rest of the stuff that CAN come to us wont be as big, like Nick dlc[propably] We will se 1 expansion, lesser or better, we will know in time but rest is just unimportant stuff that is coming.

Im actually ok with those DLCs, Ill put my opinion in red.

1. Bethesda announces DLC...

Yeah, that's great and all, but what about the creation kit? Any word on that anytime soon? Just a hint?

I think the new survival mode is dealying the creation kit, if i would take a guess theyll probaly be released togeter this month.

2. Automatron

While this isn't quite as bad as Horse Armor, it still doesn't look that impressive. More details are needed before I can make any sort of real judgement.

Mostly looks like a bunch of new enemies added, and the ability to make your own robot, which IIRC is actually already a mod, but don't quote me on that.

I think theres more to this dlc than robobrains and making a robot. For starters they celarly said the evil machinist, I actually doubt tey would say it if you wouldnt confront him on a questline at least, i hope there are lots of side quets too ( I also hpe its possible to become his ally or take over his army). About the robot creation, Ive read it calmly and looks like youll be able to create your own robot models and made an army if you want wich sound awesome!mIf you zoom the image you can see the men in the poster actually has metal coming out his body, so its a possible hint for implants. Ill buy it.

3. Wasteland Workshop

New stuff for settlements, okay, I have to admit the options for settlements now are somewhat anemic. Good thing we've got loads of mods that already add stuff! But hey, I guess this is going to be new new stuff. Like, new models, that kind of thing. I wonder if that's why they're holding off on releasing the CK, because they don't want to be one-upped by modders? Probably not, but I'm feeling cynical right now.

And the whole "capture creatures to make them fight" is, uh... I dunno. Maybe okay? I guess? Not my thing. But then again, I don't see any reason to include some sort of slapped-together combat arena thing in every game either.

I love the creation mode! Ive spent hour creating and managing my settlements. This DLc seems pretty pointless because of mods, but i dont think they would repeat the horse armor DLC fiasco. Remember they denied the existence of fallout 4 for 3 years, so i dont think theres only that in the DLC, i may or may not buy it.

4. Far Harbor

Now this looks interesting. Nick Valentine-related... is that just a quest hook, like a "Valentine's Detective Agency case" is a better intro than "a mysterious man walks up to you and hands you a note" or even the ever-popular debug.messagebox? Or is it something Valentine-related, like he's a major component (har har)? I'd be rooting for the latter, because that would kind of indicate that maybe they're planning on semi-large DLC for each companion, which would be pretty cool, I think.

And the theme does seem to support the theory that we're getting underwater content at some point. Nifty, I guess.

"Largest landmass" is a bit vague, though. Are we talking something 1% larger than Shivering Isles, or are we talking full game-sized? And just how much of that is empty space? Again, more details are wanted!

Im actually hoping for a civil war kind of situation here, it would be awesome! also bethesda never made a single bad story dlc. so I dont think they would fuck up on this one.  The poster show the main character and dogmeat on a boat, so Im hoping for a navigation system and maybe underwater combat ( if you look into the fles, there are incomplete underwater combat scripts, they probably couldnt finish it on time and will put on this dlc). theres too much underwater shit and sea on the map, thay wouldnt waste time modelling it without a reason.

And now, permit me:

Since Fallout 4 launched, we’ve been blown away by your support for the game. Yes, very punny. (I love the game, but seriously shut up) It stands as our most successful title ever Are you shitting me. (nope, just nope... Fallout 3 is) and that couldn’t have happened without you. It’s been truly inspiring, the stories, images and experiences that you’ve created You know, you could get even more inspired if you gave us the proper tools... just sayin'. And now it’s time to share with you some of what we’ve been creating Yes? Yes? – our first series of add-ons: Oh, DLC. Well that's good too, I guess. (first series is the important part here, thereall probably be more dlc series comming. I just hope some are free. I dont shit gold.)Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor.

The mysterious Mechanist Really, Bethesda? You can't let one game go without a cameo? (For fucks sake Todd, misterious? hes a crazy yet amuzing mecanic that believes its a super hero! You talk with him at fallout 3 and he tells his whole lifestory even if you dont give a fuck about it! My dick has more miteries than he!)has unleashed a horde of evil robots Okay, that doesn't seem like the Mechanist I remember. But whatever... (OMG he went full crazy and became  fallen hero supervillain! I love it! Please tell me its cannon that the lone wanderer ignored them and Well see the antagonizer! Itll be hilarious! I love that quest its so funny and goofy) into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Devious? Someone threw a dart at the Pick-Your-Adjective-Dartboard. (seriously? the devious robobrain? hes the most innofensive and pathetic robot in the lore! mister hadies have saws and flamtrowers! and theyre buttlers! What can the robobrain do? talk to you annoying random shit on a ridiculous machanicakl voice? cause headaches?) Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! Okay. Build your own robot buddy, and some new enemies. Is that really worth $10? (It tottally is!)

With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. Aside from the huge support (intentional? accidental?) given to Loverslab with this idea (and hopefully associated integrated mechanics), that doesn't really seem like my deal. But I'm sure a lot of people will get a kick out of it, so way to go. (I see perverts changing the world and filling the commonwealth with depravaty and slavery. i see a club you dont talk about... and I dont need any fucking chems!)The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more! What an innovative invention! We haven't had any sort of taxidermy stuff since... well, since Oblivion's Battlehorn Castle! Truly inspired! Sarcasm aside, that does sound like my kind of thing. I do enjoy a good museum/trophy room thing every now and again. And I'm interested to see how they manage "letter kits" which I'm assuming will be moderate to giant-sized bits of text you can stick on walls. ( i like the letter kits, i wonder if I can make a neon dick and put on the airport... It would be a present for fuher maxon and the wasteland nazis. Why elder lyons had to die! I liked him, the FO4 brother hood is annoying as fuck! here always been one of my favorite factions onfallout games. Thanks Todd for making them assholes)

A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Along the way, you'll beat a dead horse for fun and profit! Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Point Lookout, anyone? Someone at Bethesda doesn't like the beach. ( I dont think will be like point lookout, but about the origins and reasons behind the cancer worshpiers (atom), untilln ow they seem like a vbunch of studip suicidal religious fanatics that are better dead) Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? The cost of over two hundred 10mm bullets and fifty Molotov cocktails, if I'm any judge. (only that? I bet Well need much more ammo for thebullet sponge  mutant sponges (Ill call one bob) or the flying rainbow shooting fishes!)Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. Because you're just not powerful enough when you find a rapid-firing MIRV fatman and a suit of fully upgraded X-01 power armor. (YYYEEESSS EVEN MORE FIREPOWER!!!!! Cait, grab your shit, Well getting more guns to detroy even more stuff!!!)The choices are all yours. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

The robobrain always had an odd SFX for it's attack which kind of suggested that all that grey matter was being used to generate some sort of psionic blast. So it's possible that they'll expand on that with a robobrain that can use its intrinsic psi-powers to teleport (like moletats and scorpions can) or turn invisible (like almost everything can) ...

... damn. I almost worked up some enthusiasm there.

I'am glad they are doing more DLCs.

They kinda get lazy with Skyrim , where I wish they could support it for a little bit longer with addons. Also Far Harbor sounds like a Shivering Isles size DLC , thats good. But I am gonna hold before buying it, not sure how much content it will have ,especially automatron. I don't wanna see a mod called "Expanded Automatron" in the second day after the mod release.

10 bucks is a lot so lets hope it will have some decent customizations.

Posted

I'm just hoping there is more in development, don't get me wrong it sounds good; but I bet half of it will become victim to replacement mods. All they've really given us is the framework, still wondering if it was worth buying the pass.

The 'pass' was 30 bucks, soon it will be 60.

So...the same planned dlcs will be released BUT the value set by Bethesda will jump.  It makes no sense.  Additionally they are warning people of the price jump.  'Get all of the promised dlcs for $29.99 today or be prepared to pay $59.99 in a month...for the same promised content that was $29.99 two months ago.  We're not adding anything new, we're just announcing a price jack to induce a panic buy frenzy.'

It's not the 'same planned' DLCs, tho. They expanded their original plans due to FO4 being their "most successful title ever", according to the press release. The stuff they've announced is all coming out within the next few months. A full Dragonborn-style 'new lands' expansion, and two Hearthfires-style content packs, the retail price of which add up to ten bucks more than the initial season pass cost.

In the same timeframe, all Skyrim got was the Hi-Res Texture Pack and Fall of the Space Core. Dawnguard didn't come out until June, seven months after Skyrim's release date, and an argument could be made that it was an oversized content pack itself. A few new areas and some dungeons, but mostly a questline laid over the existing map. Hearthfire was in September, and it sounds like Wasteland Workshop probably has more useful content for the same five bucks. I certainly could never bring myself to put in all the tedious effort needed to build a house when I could get a better one pre-packaged in a mod. WW's Pokemon system at least gives you something more interesting to do, never minding how it might give us a framework for a slavery mod that doesn't need extensive add-on scripting. As for Dragonborn, it came out a full year after the main game.

That accounts for all of Skyrim's DLC, and the paid three were $20, $5, and another $20, respectively, five bucks more than the retail price of the announced FO4 DLC. FO4's are coming out within the first six months of the game's release, earlier than the first of Skyrim's, with more promised and another six months for them to do them in. All of which will be completely free if you buy the pass in the next two weeks.

If they really wanted to grift us, they'd have been better off changing the existing Pass to a 'Season 1' that only covered the first six months' worth of DLC, and selling the next six months as 'Season 2' for another thirty bucks, completely independent of the 'Season 1' content. What they're doing here is giving early buyers a screaming deal.

I have no idea what you just said since it's a bunch of double talk, but whatever.  Bethesda won't be making more dlcs than they planned for and the season pass that was $29.99 will provide for the same content a $59.99 season pass.  End of story.

One thing to remember is that "worth" in this context refers to price, and not to value. If Beth say the DLC is worth over $60 dollars then it just means that $60 is at least what they plan to charge. Similarly, the "expanded DLC plan" could just as easily refer to their decision to double the price and raise twice as much money as to them having more mods in the pipeline. As long as we're talking about unannounced mods, twice zero is zero.

It's like those sofa warehouses you see adverts for. Ever see one where everything wasn't half price?

I think people are assuming the number of FO4 dlcs based on New Vegas.  Bethesda doesn't do that and aside from NV being available on Bethesda.net they ignore the game as a whole.  They don't mention it or count the happenings in that game as canon.

Bethesda Game DLCs

Oblivion: (10) Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isles and 8 assorted packs (Mehrune's Razor being the biggest)

FO3: (5) Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout,  and Mothership Zeta.

Skyrim: (3) Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn.

Looking at all of these there is a regression from multiple add-ons to fewer and with less content and added play time.  How will FO4 be any different?  There is NO WAY Bethesda is going to make more FO4 dlcs than they planned for.  And by all accounts they will be 'done' with the game within a year and a half of release date, because that's what they do.

The man-hours and funding for the dlcs is already allotted and they are working on their next game.  That means the $30.00 season pass provides for the same amount and quality of content as the $60.00 one.  In other words, "BUY NOW!...so we can fund another game."

Posted

The first two DLCs pretty much already exist thanks to mods like Robot Home Defence and Settlement Supplies Expanded (Given some more development after GECK comes out). With these three DLCs already costing $40 in total, that leaves only an estimate of $20 worth of content for other DLCs. Looking back at Fallout 3/NV, they both have four major story DLCs for only $10 each. IMO unless the Automatron consist of a massive quest line (unlikely), the first two DLCs are hardly worth it for their price.

Go with Homemaker instead, SSEx is pretty dead by now (and will likely corrupt your savegames).

What do you mean? I thought they said they were going to make more.

The initial plan was $40 worth of dlc. That's what's currently in the works, Automatron $10, Wasteland Workshop $5 and Far Harbor $25 = 40$ worth of dlc. So if they say it's going to be expanded to 60$ worth of dlc, that means there will be more.

At least that's what I got out of it..

Uhuh.  If you read the announcement on Beth.net they never state or even remotely imply they will be making more dlcs above and beyond what they have planned.  No where do they state, 'We are making additional dlcs'.  What they are stating is 'Get the season pass now before the price hike.'  It's actually very clear.

Edit: And I surrender.  Todd Howard isn't a proven liar, FO4 is indeed the next generation in open world gaming and they will indeed do something they've never done before; make more dlcs past the projected project budget.  Sorry for casting the light of reality on FO4 delusions.

No need to be so cynical, I wasn't disagreeing or mocking you. I was merely confused.

But.. they did. In the article on bethesda.net after mentioning all 3 dlc, it says: And more important, that this is only the beginning. We have plans for more. More than $60 worth of new Fallout adventures and features throughout 2016

That seems like a pretty clear confirmation to me.

Don't be so hard on Kendo.  His outlook isn't undeserved.  Beth hasn't exactly been deserving of the greatest of accolades when it comes to DLC.  Skyrim's DLC was quite lacking, and so were both FO3 and NV.

MY outlook is however that they are doing half the work the modders were going to do anyway.

I really did like New Vegas dlc though. But iirc that wasn't developed by Bethesda, but Obsidian.

Bethesda seems to me to be following the same pattern of DLC releases as they did with Skyrim. Automotron is basically another dawngaurd, in which you are given more quests and enemies within the main map of Fallout. To include adding the possibility of new armor and characters to travel around with. All be it followers you make yourself, but new followers none the less. Then they release what is essentially another Hearthfire in doing Wasteland Mechanic, which while the game basically already has housing in the settlement system they are expanding it further. Culminating in Far Harbor what is equivalent to Dragonborn DLC in which they give you a new large area to explore with a long form quest of it's own.

As for what Bethesda does after that is the question. I would still buy the season pass now personally since you essentially are paying for what you already know of, and getting extra goodies later down the road. Even if Bethesda royally messes up the DLC to follow Far Harbor, which is unlikely, you know your getting a fair amount of content which will likely end up as a modding base (especially around here). Already saw it mentioned that some one thinks the wasteland workshop DLC can probably be used further to make a slavery mod since the trap system allows you to capture NPCs.

Unrelated to what I quoted; I would much rather have a Bethesda based content, than have the same content modded in. Not because Bethesda is better than modders in any way shape or form, but rather because you know the content won't have huge conflicts with anything you decide to mod in the future. Since of course modders will have to build around said content, since it will be a esm.

In case it wasn't mentioned (I didn't read page 2 of the thread) Bethesda is offering beta access to the DLC which you can sign up for on their website. I also read that they will be allowing beta access players to keep the DLC even after the beta as a sort of thank you. As unbelievable as that sounds, it is a fairly nice deal for them to give people.

But the game is just shit though. Every time you play this game you have to go through that whole dam beginning and as we know from experience any kind of live another life or alternate start mod will just shit the bed and cause all kinds of problems.

The only way I could ever play this game again is for someone to write a whole new story and have some generic beginnings to start with. Start out as a captured slave or a slaver or just some guy living on a settlement and not only that but a new map too so we don't even run into the default stuff at all. So basically a whole new game to compensate for the horrible turd the default game is. At least skyrim was somewhat playable most of the time or oblivion but this game is just shit.

Now the above won't even be possible without the CK for this game and what if the CK is a bunch of online only, locked down BS designed to be super friendly to consoles as a primary function? You probably couldn't even get a slavery or slaver mod going like that let alone a sex mod. No way beth is gonna have little timmy going look ma they doing what you and daddy do in the special room on the tv look!!!!!

This is going to be shit and we know this from the whole paid mods BS just a matter of time.

Oh well, at least when this turd finally gets flushed down the paid mods toilet it will force everyone to go back to skyrim/oblivion/fallout whatever games. Maybe we will get better sex mods for skyrim next year.

I hope they add cyberdogs in Automatron - I want cyberdogs so bad.  I know it wasn't a Beth. thing but oh hell I want cyberdogs.

It seems like they're doing things that modders were already planning on doing though with professional voice acting, I'd pay $17 AUD for a professionally voiced RobCo Certified. The same with Wasteland Workshop.

Compared to those two DLC Far Harbour holds almost no interest to me.
