Sural Argonus Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Well...they teased some of the DLC. One of them, Wasteland Workshop has cut down even more work for slaver mods. It will have traps to catch people and animals. Now all we need is the kit. They are doing a lot of work for the modders already. Haha On my phone so just go to Beth's fb page or their main site of you haven't seen
mewwwkittytt Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 https://bethesda.net/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=020916-Fallout-1.3Update&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=021616-Fallout-DLC#en/events/game/fallout-4-add-ons-automatron-wasteland-workshop-far-harbor-and-more/2016/02/16/77 They also mentioned taming creature pets.
Sural Argonus Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks. My phone was fighting me about pasting the link
DocClox Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Well...they teased some of the DLC. One of them, Wasteland Workshop has cut down even more work for slaver mods. It will have traps to catch people and animals. Now all we need is the kit. They are doing a lot of work for the modders already. Haha I'd be a lot more excited if there was an actual creation kit to go with it.
Sural Argonus Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 They claim it is coming. They haven't announced it yet. Holding that back with survival mode info I guess
sim123321 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 At least it is not horse armor They are holding back the geck to squeeze money out of the community. If it was out, I doubt anyone would buy these dlc. Most of them have had comparable, if not better mods made by modders for thier other games.
Kendo 2 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 So the FO3 Mechanist and RoboBrains make it to FO4. *meh* The Wasteland Workshop sounds sorta cool, but the Far Harbor thing will probably be a total wash; more of the same from the base game and 'new' bullet sponge enemies to fight. And it looks like Bethesda is taking from EA's playbook and nickle-and-diming users for content. Shame on them. $4.99 for a content pack? It is a repeat of Oblivion's Horse Armor dlc. Considering the price it should be free. Other game companies do it all of the time...even EA. And no CK is no surprise. I doubt Bethesda has the licence rights to include half of the mechanics they used (like always) and there is the added complication of making mods work for consoles. Fairly certain that's what's holding back the release.
Sural Argonus Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 I already bought the season pass on steam at the original price. So I will get all them. Probably will snag the same on XBOX before the hike too
Kendo 2 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I do have to say the cover art for the packs are really nice. Love that 'True Detective' pulp comic vibe they have. And I doubt Bethesda is withholding the CK for any sort of Machiavellian scheme to fleece players. It is just a replay of every other level editor they've had for their games with the added pain of Sony and Microsoft demands. Not to mention the dead horse of trying to get player-made content and programs to NOT destroy console versions of the game.
Sural Argonus Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 I haven't had too many complaints personally about FO4 yet. Yeah, it has problems, it has glitches...what game doesnt? I haven't played it much since launch, I am holding off until the kit and DLCs drop, but not for any particular reason other then I just want to wait. Mostly when I play right now, I just mess around with settlements
Zor2k13 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 They plan to release DLC throughout the year for it not in just six months or less but for a whole year. Skyrim had what two years? They took a long time to release dragonborn but in between the game release and dragonborn there was a lot of bug fixing and the CK added. So maybe two years they plan on making stuff for this game. I read somewhere that after a certain point a dev doesn't want to try and alter their game anymore because it costs money to get the publisher or someone else to let them do it? Hopefully next year we get another TES offline game that doesn't have crap ideas and online anything but nah this is beth so we will get some horrible online only turd sandwich.
Yuni Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 This looks neat. I can't wait to see what they have in store. I haven't played the game since my first file, but I'd enjoy a reason to do it again. .... even if there won't be much different, really.
Miarc007 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm just hoping there is more in development, don't get me wrong it sounds good; but I bet half of it will become victim to replacement mods. All they've really given us is the framework, still wondering if it was worth buying the pass.
windu190 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Really looking forward to Far Harbor, definitely seems like the most interesting one. Automatron could be interesting as long as it has story quests to go with it. The workshop seems meh, reminds me of heartfire. Though i guess it provides some nice assets for slavery mods.
Kendo 2 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm just hoping there is more in development, don't get me wrong it sounds good; but I bet half of it will become victim to replacement mods. All they've really given us is the framework, still wondering if it was worth buying the pass. The 'pass' was 30 bucks, soon it will be 60. So...the same planned dlcs will be released BUT the value set by Bethesda will jump. It makes no sense. Additionally they are warning people of the price jump. 'Get all of the promised dlcs for $29.99 today or be prepared to pay $59.99 in a month...for the same promised content that was $29.99 two months ago. We're not adding anything new, we're just announcing a price jack to induce a panic buy frenzy.' It is a chickenshit move by a chickenshit game company. What makes it even more transparent and DUMB is the 'if you previously bought the season pass for $29.99 you'll get the same content as people who will be paying $59.99 after the cut off date.' In other words Bethesda is fucking admitting they are price gouging. I'm all for small or indie dev companies funding games, but not multi-million international Zenimax; and not through price hikes and fear. They don't need grass roots funding to prop up their games; they need some goddamned morals and ethics.
Zor2k13 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 They won't be the only company to do this kind of thing this year. The division is probably gonna suck once it gets into the wild and doom is just a bunch of canned kill animations that some five year old will beat in less than a few hours. Near the end of the year all we have to look forward to is another deus ex and call of potty time oh and a huge political shit storm of electioneering! I think alcohol sales will surge this year because who the hell wants to be sober watching another lying filthy snake slither into office.
Content Consumer Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 1. Bethesda announces DLC... Yeah, that's great and all, but what about the creation kit? Any word on that anytime soon? Just a hint? 2. Automatron While this isn't quite as bad as Horse Armor, it still doesn't look that impressive. More details are needed before I can make any sort of real judgement. Mostly looks like a bunch of new enemies added, and the ability to make your own robot, which IIRC is actually already a mod, but don't quote me on that. 3. Wasteland Workshop New stuff for settlements, okay, I have to admit the options for settlements now are somewhat anemic. Good thing we've got loads of mods that already add stuff! But hey, I guess this is going to be new new stuff. Like, new models, that kind of thing. I wonder if that's why they're holding off on releasing the CK, because they don't want to be one-upped by modders? Probably not, but I'm feeling cynical right now. And the whole "capture creatures to make them fight" is, uh... I dunno. Maybe okay? I guess? Not my thing. But then again, I don't see any reason to include some sort of slapped-together combat arena thing in every game either. 4. Far Harbor Now this looks interesting. Nick Valentine-related... is that just a quest hook, like a "Valentine's Detective Agency case" is a better intro than "a mysterious man walks up to you and hands you a note" or even the ever-popular debug.messagebox? Or is it something Valentine-related, like he's a major component (har har)? I'd be rooting for the latter, because that would kind of indicate that maybe they're planning on semi-large DLC for each companion, which would be pretty cool, I think. And the theme does seem to support the theory that we're getting underwater content at some point. Nifty, I guess. "Largest landmass" is a bit vague, though. Are we talking something 1% larger than Shivering Isles, or are we talking full game-sized? And just how much of that is empty space? Again, more details are wanted! And now, permit me: Since Fallout 4 launched, we’ve been blown away by your support for the game. Yes, very punny. It stands as our most successful title ever Are you shitting me. and that couldn’t have happened without you. It’s been truly inspiring, the stories, images and experiences that you’ve created You know, you could get even more inspired if you gave us the proper tools... just sayin'. And now it’s time to share with you some of what we’ve been creating Yes? Yes? – our first series of add-ons: Oh, DLC. Well that's good too, I guess. Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor. The mysterious Mechanist Really, Bethesda? You can't let one game go without a cameo? has unleashed a horde of evil robots Okay, that doesn't seem like the Mechanist I remember. But whatever... into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Devious? Someone threw a dart at the Pick-Your-Adjective-Dartboard. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! Okay. Build your own robot buddy, and some new enemies. Is that really worth $10? With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. Aside from the huge support (intentional? accidental?) given to Loverslab with this idea (and hopefully associated integrated mechanics), that doesn't really seem like my deal. But I'm sure a lot of people will get a kick out of it, so way to go. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more! What an innovative invention! We haven't had any sort of taxidermy stuff since... well, since Oblivion's Battlehorn Castle! Truly inspired! Sarcasm aside, that does sound like my kind of thing. I do enjoy a good museum/trophy room thing every now and again. And I'm interested to see how they manage "letter kits" which I'm assuming will be moderate to giant-sized bits of text you can stick on walls. A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Along the way, you'll beat a dead horse for fun and profit! Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Point Lookout, anyone? Someone at Bethesda doesn't like the beach. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? The cost of over two hundred 10mm bullets and fifty Molotov cocktails, if I'm any judge. Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. Because you're just not powerful enough when you find a rapid-firing MIRV fatman and a suit of fully upgraded X-01 power armor. The choices are all yours. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
oniric1 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 this not only 3 dlc,is more of that(like you can read on Bethesda.NET) our first series of add-ons: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor more dlc will come, is just the first releases.
panthercom Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The whole 'buy now before the price goes up' makes me think Bethesda is having cash flow problems. That being said, I will probably do just that
Istill Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Well. They say new DLCS are coming... So if i have to look into the past... After these three, there will be one more to go.
Content Consumer Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Well. They say new DLCS are coming... So if i have to look into the past... After these three, there will be one more to go. Aw jeez, you're probably right. Dangit.
oniric1 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Well. They say new DLCS are coming... So if i have to look into the past... After these three, there will be one more to go. oblivion -10 fallout 3 -5 fallout new vegas-5 skyrim-3 3+1=4 ? if me, of you forget one think.
Guest Real Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 At least it is not horse armor They are holding back the geck to squeeze money out of the community. If it was out, I doubt anyone would buy these dlc. Most of them have had comparable, if not better mods made by modders for thier other games. People will still buy them because mods for FO4 will have dependencies for dlc's. And also because a lot of people enjoy the game. This argument wears on me. Like every game and every asset is already finished, but companies just sit on them to maximize their profits.
Saber2th Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The first two DLCs pretty much already exist thanks to mods like Robot Home Defence and Settlement Supplies Expanded (Given some more development after GECK comes out). With these three DLCs already costing $40 in total, that leaves only an estimate of $20 worth of content for other DLCs. Looking back at Fallout 3/NV, they both have four major story DLCs for only $10 each. IMO unless the Automatron consist of a massive quest line (unlikely), the first two DLCs are hardly worth it for their price.
