Is this thread just for character shots or can it include scenics? :D

Also..

@Antrox. Your character is looking great.

@Kaos Wulf. I FUCKING LOVE THOSE THIGHS! :P

and if scenics are ok in this thread... I've got 3 shots. :)

I'm terrible with FOV when it comes to scenics....

Thanks, I spent a lot of time with UUNP to get her own shape.

And I don't see why not; scenery is a subject also.

It's a pretty face, but that of a Nord. Give her some Bosmer slider until she at least starts to resemble one. At least a little bit.

Actually the Racemenu race slider is at 0.25 Bosmer I believe, anything more and the head gets some weird distortions. I guess I call it a day and dedicate myself to anime elves once more. :sleepy:

Don't give up now! You're almost THERE! Give her enough slider to see some chin and cheekbone morphing them smooth them out a little bit. And !BAM! you'll have an elf. :P

Have you tried sculpting the distortions away?

There are just too many of them, and most of them you can only see from certain angles or during certain emotions, making it very hard to spot where they actually originate from.

Kinda' I guess. I think I can tell she's supposed to be Bosmer, or maybe half Bosmer? Bosmer do tend to be less "elfy" than the others, but they still have some distinct chins, cheekbones and brow ridges.

I made a half-elf character for a playthrough some time ago and just tweaked a Nord with the racial sliders.

Let me have it. Thoughts on the face; opinions on hair if you've got em, length, style, anything. Opinions on skin color? Eye color? Is everything fine? I've taken some suggestions from KaosWulf and Neon Firefly over the past few weeks, and I think it was for the better as it brought her older better look back. Sometimes you get carried away making changes and you lose the character's feel.

Really like her face, very Native American looking. I wouldn't change a thing.

I didn't read it saying they weren't allowed. I personally prefer taking environment pictures over character ones, to much setup, whereas location pictures are beautiful without adjusting or setting it up. Love the cloudy sky in the last picture. Off topic, but does anybody know why there are two moons? My game has that too, and I don't know why.

The only thing I'd change are the lips. Personally I'd just pick another mouth tbh. Very pretty character you have there. I really like her sharp eyebrows.

I'd say that every screenshots are allowed. Scenery, characters, lewds - everything you'd like a few comments on. Might update the OP with some clarifications and general screenarchery tips (I just typed screenarchery to summon Jexsam, let's see if it works!)

Regarding the moons, Nirn has two of them, Secunda and Masser. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Nirn

That stare gave me a fear-boner. :P  Beautifully done, she looks more authentic, and not like some barbie-doll type.

I think this is my final version of muh bosmer:

The only thing I might change is the hairstyle or something relatively minor like that. I can't see that face in the racemenu (more like ragemenu amirite) anymore lest I might go insane. On another note, I am quite happy that this thread picked up the pace a bit.

Compared to what you started with, it's a world of difference. While I don't play elves that often, I would definitely let her accompany me.

Masser and Secunda. Nirn's two moons.

Yup. Some people don't realize that TES lore is not on Earth, that it's on a planet called Nirn. Is that why I am sooooo driven to collect Nirnroots? It's been a problem for many, many years. Almost as if they call out to me or something.

If it isn't Earth then why are there Nords? Or humans at all?

Definitely hope this thread stays a thing. Feedback is always good for creativity!

Anyway, I've got two characters up for criticisms.

First one is a Redguard/Nord Halfling (Niyleen)

enb2015_8_14_17_23_8.jpg

Second one  is a Nord vampire (Lucari)

enb2015_8_14_17_28_58.jpg

Decided against using any facial expressions for either.

Have you tried experimenting with different face normal maps?

I feel as if they lack volume, and seem more hand drawn and flatter currently, but that's not a good or bad thing, just personal taste. The stories you weave and the scenes you create feel more like an animated series over a forced realism approach, so my suggestion might be off base. Maybe what I'm really trying to say is that I feel they could differentiate more in facial structure and features, to better emphasize the differences they have in their appearance.

I like this thread, maybe I can get some hints on how to make the screenshots better. I never was too happy with how my Skyrim looked, I wasn't able to come close to what I saw in most screenshots here on LL. But that is mostly to blame on my crappy machine (otherwise I would have to blame it on the inept and crappy user laugh.png )

I tried out several different lighting mods, but never was really satisfied with the lighting inside buildings....

Dance with me!

dance_with_me.jpg

Same pose, outside: Come with me!

come_with_me.jpg

(I prefer to have the harsh, cold sun look)

Training is essential:

training_is_essential.jpg

This one was taken at the early afternoon, the light doesn't look that "wintery" anymore

I've been there. I used to run on a poor rig for a very long time. To help with screenshots a basic start is playing with the FOV, to help compose the scene and create perspective and scale. The first scene is too soft, and doesn't feel as if anything is in focus, even though the focal point is your character posing. The second shot feels too busy for such a scene and the perspective that's used. My eyes end up going all over the place and then I end up focusing on some things that are lower res than others right next to each other - I would've zoomed in further using a smaller FOV and blurred the background out with the mountains and part of the roof still visible.

I think your third shot here is great. It's got a candid feel to it, you caught her in a good expression and everything. The FOV also looks just right for the scene. It's clear what the focal point is, and the background adds more to that focal point. As opposed to the first two shots, blurring the background or changing the FOV, I think would've taken away the feeling of it.

I'm no authority or standard on any of this, but I thought I'd share my opinions, or what I'd have done.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and I took your criticism.

@gvman3670: She would eat you alive. Actually naw... she would just stick you up and rob you.

@dTd: haha was it the bandana? Not gonna lie, she does have a slight look to that about her.

@GrimReaper: I took this criticism to heart and reexamined her lips. I'm glad you pointed it out:

V5i4xpF.jpg

She was fearful of the change, but I think she'll come around. I'm not sure if those'll do, but it's better than what I had before.

@GimmeBACON: Fear-boner? :P If you saw the rest of her body, I'm not sure how you'd react, hah. She's pretty muscular.

Going back to this:

I think it would be worth it for you to invest into refining her in sculpt. If you turn the head into a grid, it might help spot em, and you could just work a little at a time to avoid burn out.

Ready?

I always enjoy your shots, and you were one of the people that inspired me to start sharing here a long time ago. You make the subject and focal point clear, and every image makes me wonder how each character got to that "point" where you captured them for the screen. I like the musculature of course, and the body tattoos complement the warpaint - I'd even suggest that the body tattoos gradually fade in hue like a gradient starting from the red of her warpaints down to the black/grey on her legs. The scars and the look in her eyes are scary... I don't think Jann would back down, though, hehe.

edit: I missed this

She looks good. So is she a Bosmer? Or a Nord with the racial sliders? Or modded elf race?

I liked her enough it spurred me to create a she-Bosmer of my own. I went with a vanilla Bosmer race, tons of slider work then a little sculpting (using CITRUS head, too). She turned out OK I think.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback. Puts my mind at ease that I managed to make a somewhat decent elf that looks like an elf rather than a human with pointy ears.

I use the ygnord race that comes with ECE. Makes it easy to test out new textures and meshes without NPCs being affected.

The ground being "earth", not the planet Earth.

the way he says it, sounds like he is refering to the planet tho.
