GrimReaper Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015   If you think that, I suggest reading the Silmarillion.  Even Galadriel turns out to have a past, admittedly not with a direct part in the insanity and murder generated by Feanor and his brood but she rebelled along with them.  There's a huge amount of bad behaviour from Tolkien's elves, they surely are not the "good fairy" all of the time.    Yes, there's a huge narrative gap between LotR and the Silmarillion or even The Hobbit, for that matter. LotR always always evoked that feeling of being a spin-off, at least for me. Still, when people talk about Tolkien elves, I'm pretty sure they reference the elves in LotR most of the time.  Yeah well, I guess Tolkien wasn't aiming for gritty anti-hero comic book material, hence broad brushed dark versus light vibe.  He did a much better job on the humans, though.
Ginnyfizz Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I'd agree with you there GrimReaper, when you read Lord of the Rings after the Silmarillion you do kind of feel that more about the Rings of Power other than the One could have done with being in. And yes, I suspect that folk do think of LoTR when they reference Tolkien elves. Don't even get me started on the film version turning Arwen into some kind of warrior princess...
Schmendrick Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I think the elves wierd looks was fine all along with Morrowind's alien aesthetics; that and all the tribal cultural stuff around the Dunmer made their rough looks fit very well in that game. I remember playing Morrowind with a completely vanilla Dunmer and beign quite happy with it.

Â For instance, Conjuration could conceivably be used to bind a smeicorporeal, partly-functioning phallus to oneself. Imagine a strapon, but with a dick that actually gets soft and hard and twitches and acts like a real dick, sans only the fluid secretions. For the more macabre-minded, one could just as conceivably preserve a full cock and balls, reanimate them via Conjuration, and have a living, functioning strapon. Â Alteration can take that a step further. We know as a school it can harden skin, alter weight, sense life, force sleep, create light, and even give one the ability to breathe water. If we take that, then take the term Alteration at face value, it's not a stretch to assume it could be used in body modification; say, growing horns, adding scales to one's skin, even... grafting or generating an entire cock onto someone that hadn't had one previously. It's not backed by any lore that I know of, so it's possible true manipulation of the physical may be beyond its reach, but it's not unreasonable to assume given what we know. So barring a genetic defect, which will have problems all its own and still not look like what people like to post, no, they simply can't be "born and raised" as such.

Plus i always err on the side of lore-friendly anyways, i absolutely cannot stand mods that try to make them look like something they're not :v.

GrimReaper Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Well, she has different eyes, a different mouth and a tweaked nose and her facial features are more 'pointy' now, thanks to Racemenu's racial sliders. The one thing I could swap would be the diffuse and normalmap textures to give the face a more mature or realistic look. I might try that.

I decided what I liked elves to look like long ago and since they are not real and so many amazing modders provided me with tools to do it, I make elves look close to what I think they should.
