How to debug CTD

Recommended Posts

@ h38fh2mf

Uninstalling immersive Patrols might have increased the stability after all. Can't find any crash now that im searching for it ;/ (Although this still might be coincidence, the fact that you say it was the same crash after I uninstalled IP keeps me suspicious).

A smaller-sized log would be awesome, but I'm not gonna ask for more if this is a fair amount of work for you to develop this kind of logging. You already did so much to try to help me, and I sincerly appreciate it! Thank you.

I'll report back if I can catch a crash with the log, or I run into heavy instability again :P Until then I feel like I shall stop bothering you for a while, or I gonna fill up this whole thread with my posts :)

Cheers

@cbvbadlarry

Which list is that?

On the first post their is a spoiler hiding a list of known crashes.

Ah it's not specific enough this function is used in many places, I'd need stack info.

Using latest version on Nexus v5.

I am getting a CTD on fast travel to Whiterun Stables. I restart game, and CTD again.

When I try to upload the dump, I am getting an error when trying to upload a debug log:

Please review the following issues:

  • There was a problem uploading your dump.

Click "back" in your browser to retry.

EDIT: I can bypass this fast travel by COC Whiterunstables, then come out thru the doors and no CTD however I am at wits end as to what is causing this.

I tried increasing block 1 as well and still CTD

EDIT 2: Confirmed using v5 the dump gets the above error, using v4 the dumps read fine

Well im doing a test playthrough without iNeed. so far ive played 4 hours without a crash so it looks like iNeed was conflicting with something. also without iNeed I can brawl where before the actors detected the spell and got mad.

Posted

Ah I'm using iNeed and haven't had crashes. But I did have from time to time master Neloth wanted to kill me it was weird and he is too strong always one shots me lol. I wonder if that's caused by iNeed brawl thing.

Oh I forgot to answer, I don't know what is going on in that crash, I haven't poked at this part of the code before.

ok must be the ENB anyway its a 5hour of gameplay who cares if you get CTD every hours its already a long one compare last time without me having this fix i get CTD every 5 mins on exterior

thanks for the plugins and the fix

Posted

Ah yes I did but I didn't see anything that could be of use sorry.

thanks for all the help, If I get it again hopefully the next one has more info that's usable.

I got back into Skyrim the other day, switched from ATI to NVIDIA around end of last year and hadn't much played Skyrim since then so didn't notice stability over a longer period of time. But it seems like overall though NVIDIA runs Skyrim smoother even though the specs are pretty much the same for the ATI card, it's a little more prone to crashing. Here's the latest dump file, any ideas?

I'm not sure why that save keeps crashing me after loading in. I ran the script cleaner to see if maybe it was scripts or something but nothing came up

I can't say, string was being set but the pointer is invalid. Stack doesn't go back far enough to say where this originated.

Haven't seen Skyrim this unstable in a while. Oh well. Here's another one. I did some testing with memory blocks log, got rid of SSME temporarily, just using SKSE's memory patching and kept crashing at the usual spot between Katla's Farm and carriage in Solitude. I don't know why SKSE refuses to work for me for the memory parts as adding SSME again got rid of that crash. I thought it might be the SKSE/ENB x64 issue, but I haven't used the x64 ENB memory thing in a while but hadn't gotten around to testing if SKSE would work properly until now. Guess it still doesn't. Anyway here's the log after I got on my horse and started riding away from Knife Hideout something, which lasted a minute or so until it crashed with a different reference than previously.

How do I get the module list? I forget. Oh yeah, did add Crash Fix (5) before that crash.

@circ

I don't know, it looks weird I don't understand it. Kind of looks like some plugin is hooking that place or just some magic is happening or the stack is wrong.

@sidfu

You have two problems, one is skeleton. Make sure you have XPMS or XPMSE and it's not overwritten and you ran FNIS. I used to have that crash but I stopped having since I use crash fix plugin and made sure skeleton is ok. Try maybe even an older version of XPMSE if nothing else works.

Second problem is you have some clusterfuck going on with scripts and active effects. This sounds more like a modding or conflict problem.

Also "mov" means to move memory or register. Movzx means to move memory but if the location moved is smaller then pad with zeros.

the enb 64bit enable varies but some people it causes ctd alot where some it dont.
