i thought my heapsize was 512 why did i crash on 256?

Posted

If you are not preloading animations in Skyrim.ini (or my crash fix plugin) then the initial heap size gets reduced by 256 MB from what value you have in SKSE.ini

after i create a Crashdumps folder on my skse and still im not getting any crash log

also i use 512 heapsize on skse.ini

When you crash at 256 MB heap size and NOT getting a crash dump this should be 2 complementing indicators your SKSE is not working properly. No idea why though. Do you always crash on 256 MB or could this have been coincidence?

i already have the latest papyrus util and jcontainers what seems to be missing?

I don't know, but these utilities you mentioned are not required for SKSE per se (but maybe for mods you use, I don't know your setup). Maybe just try to make a clean reinstall of SKSE 1.7.3 and see how it goes? Are you using Steam alongside with the game?

I can't seem to get rid of my exterior crash. Uninstalling Immersive patrols did not help. Another random crash occured when walking along.. Can you take a look at it? Again the same thing?

This time no papyrus logging at all at the time the crash occured.

PS Another mod I use that is maybe worth mentioning is DynDOLOD. Could you make up any relationship to that?

Here is the plugin for logging magic effect creation, deletion and usage where it crashes normally. This will make your game slooow because it's writing to file all the time and uses locking so multiple threads don't write to file at same time. But may help finding the cause, if effect is used after it's deletion. Also this creates a huge log, maybe 10mb or more in 1 minute. Just use this until you get the crash, and then we can see what happened maybe.. Hopefully you get crash soon. Here is some example of a log:

First number is timestamp (milliseconds) and next shows pointer to effect, this is how can see if effect is used after deletion.

@h38fh2mf: Couldn't find the crash so far unfortunatly, I have to go offline for 3-4 hour and continue the search afterwards. But holy cow, this log file gets big. It had 3GB after 1 hour or so of playtime. Notepad cant open it. Is it possible to open it somehow or do I need a CTD closer to starting up the game?

@aljustineg: Not sure if this log will help with your problem, I'm not sure if the SKSE memory patch is working for you at all from what you tell :/

Posted

Hmmh, this isn't the best way to go about it, maybe I should just keep some of the last allocations history in memory and if the game is about to crash then write to log only..

u probalyy want 1 plugin for those that have short playtime crashes and one for long playtime crashes.

for ctd on loading and such u would want to log everything but if its say ctd after greater than 10min of pllay u want only last thing it did.

This is only for very specific crash that Umaril is having. Nobody else will benefit from this, at least I haven't seen anyone else post same crash.

Edit: saying that, at this point it might be easier for you to start a new game :P

I keep getting random ctd's, I could be fighting, I could just be running around, I could be opening my inventory. I can't figure it out. Sometimes I'll play an hour just fine, sometimes I crash after 5 mins.

This one is from last night, I was exiting an inn and crashed after the loading screen finished loading.

any help would be greatly appreciated. I cleaned all the mods that didnt say you couldnt clean them, I run loot, I have bashed patch set up correctly. I just cant figure these random ctd's out. I don't think I'm running out of vram, I played with performance monitor on and I never go over. I'm always just under.

I am frequently getting the CTD from the second error on the list. Does not seem to be related to my in game actions or location. Hopefully someone can use the information on this topic to figure out what causes it.

@Druninja

The first one has something to do with facegen animations. The parent node is NULL I don't know why. I wonder if this can be caused by badly made facegen exported data or something. Also curious, are you using IFPV 3.1?

Second one is - an active effect (magic effect) gets updated but either the pointer to effect or vtable is bad. The stack doesn't show anything useful, do you have modules list with addresses to go with the second one ? Also if you get the second one again post more, maybe this time it will show better stack.

@cbvbadlarry

Which list is that?

Try creating a folder My Games/Skyrim/SKSE/Crashdumps manually.

sorry about that.  stupid me i forgot the MO has a seperate SKSE.ini so when i open the data file on my MO (mod organizer) i notice that my heapsize was 256 and the skse ini on my original folder in skyrim was 512 and then i notice that i have to debug write crash dumps or something sorry i forgot about it but i remeber i did type it correctly now  so far i havent have any crash yet with 512 cause im running a lot mods and script heavy so i think 512 is the righr heapsize for me and also the crashdumps folder already appear in my doc

il let you know if i experience any crash and il post it in here thanks and  sorry for that
