ousnius Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 The blunt truth is CBBE's topology, weighting and UV are very very basic and were never meant for anything other than standing animations and what limited posing was available at Skyrim's pre-Dawnguard time frame. I'll never understand why Caliente spent so much time with BS and OS and never took the time to update the actual reason those utilities existed to a nice universal standard, it's not like she didn't have the means or the time to do so, if I recall Dimon even offered to help at the time. CBBE is still totally viable, just maybe not for sex mods or screen archers. We didn't want to make a CBBE v4 without Caliente since she's currently gone/unavailable, so I just made sure Unified UNP becomes good instead and put it in the BodySlide mod page.
27X Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I'd agree it's perfectly fine for anything that doesn't change Skyrim's original gameplay facets, but anything involving feet/kick/flip/jump based combat, and any part of the torso/back/butt/hips bending more than 15 degress or so is... problematic; and considering that this is a forum where lots of "interesting" contortions to said areas occur, and you can see the issue. I think that reason CBBE is even still a thing in terms of activity is because certain japanese and chinese modders have a fetish for the body and continue to provide outfit support. I get not liking the UNP/DG/*insert not cbbe* body for whatever reason, especially fetish ones which will never produce a rational argument other than LEAVE MY WAIFU ALONE, but in technical and animation/weighting aspects alone the body is vastly unsupported.

CBBE has improved a lot thanks to ChronoTrigger77 and me in terms of weighting, though. It bends better than most other bodies now, even those with a higher vertex count. It's definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be. I actually think CBBE bends better than default UNP, unless the animation was made for only UNP in mind. At least on the legs and arms. Well, with both CBBE and UUNP you can mostly make whatever shape you want. I'm not a fan boy of any body type, I just like to spread awareness. If I was, I would have definitely made sure UUNP didn't get on the BodySlide page as one of its moderators.
BringtheNoise Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Oh this question, again????? Breaks out popcorn.....
chajapa Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 cell, This is more like spreading awesomeness.... not just awareness. I'm not a fan boy of any particular body either. I switched to CBBE long ago because I liked how it scaled. I *liked* it. I've been around just long enough to have seen a lot of the transition to the various motion enhancements, and a plethora of body replacers. UUNP, in my opinion, is nothing short of miraculous. It's like.... (fanfare of trumpets and angels singing...) UNIBODY UNP textures, on a very well thought out weighting scheme, in any body shape you want. C'mon. Isn't that almost like the holy grail? With CBBE and bodyslide you could do basically any shape you wanted and use CBBE textures. But.... and remember I switched to CBBE quite a while ago... I've always though the UNP textures were superior. I didn't know WHY they were, and I'm only recently paying attention enough to understand it has something to do with more vertices and all that technical crap. AND.... throw in a working "port" and..... (there's those trumpets and angels again....) So.... just my humble opinion, but I think UUNP is a pretty big deal.
gooser Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Apparently this: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/1454-project-unified-unp/
ousnius Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 It's a body addon for BodySlide that uses 7B topology (vertices), UNP UV map (textures) and custom weighting, and unifies all of the UNP variants by having a slider for each that morphs the body to it. Regular, HDT and Special (working vagina). The base shape (in the NIF file) looks like CBBE, and from there it can morph to anything. It means if you convert something to be a UUNP BodySlide conversion, you have (visually) converted it to all of UNP (and CBBE too) at once. Updates for it are now on the BodySlide Nexus mod page, unless BringTheNoise decides to update stuff and descriptions here. (never mind the quality of the underwear here, it was made for Shinji so he doesn't have nudity in his video)
Kakabishan Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 question is -- When creating a a UUNP based body in bodyslide, what is the best preset (Preset that most people use and find the best) ?
ZXZXZX Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 No such animal. Bodyslide allows people to do things they want, and they want different things. I am sure there are general tendencies, but variance is significant.
27X Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 The entire point of slide is there is no more compromises nor is there a unilateral best. Anyone can design their own best. Now as for technical best as soon as blabba adds in a SMP vagina to citrus in 2040, then that will be the best.
Kendo 2 Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Apparently this: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/1454-project-unified-unp/ No wonder I don't know about it. By the way people were talking I thought someone had reinvented the wheel. UNP for BodySlide, yet another reason not to learn how to mod. Now I'm sorry I asked.
