Pros/Cons for CBBE vs 7Base/7BaseBombshell/7Bo

I'm considering rebuilding my Skyrim install from scratch. I'm a long hold-out for CBBE (primarily because of Bodyslide). I'm actually a Noob when it comes to body types, etc.

I see a lot of activity regarding SevenBase related mods and wonder if its time to switch.

Some questions:

- What are the pros/cons of CBBE vs 7Base ?

- Does 7Base handle SexLab alignments better?

- HDT support the same?

- Armor, clothing support roughly the same?

Thanks

Unified UNP - now part of bodyslide is a UNP setup for Bodyslide that has over 30 of the major unp shapes as presets.

It includes all of the Sevenbase variants in those presets.

You will need a unp skin set to use with it as well as armor sets that have the unp body types included (replacement armors and what not).

Pro's = higher poly/vertex count over cbbe

equal's = weight painting (as Cell/Ousnius refined both body types for bodyslide so the bone weights are damn good on uunp and cbbe)

Con's = if your system is a low end the system (like 10 years old and should be replaced old) then the higher poly's could eat up some frame per second...

HDT is covered with UUNP as well as well as some extra stuff (like hdt plus and special).

Good skins sets to use with UUNP are: Fair Skin, SG Renewal, Glorious Persperation, and a couple of others (I mainly bounce back and forth between fair skin and gp).

The nice thing is once you go with UUNP, you can use any UNP armor set you want.

Sevenbase armors, unpb armors, unp skinny armors, etc. The main thing is the outfits will match the base shape of the torso (as most outfits include the torso in the body/chest/torso/slot32 part of the armor).

The really fun part is when you start playing with those armors to match them to the shape you like :P

If you like the skimpy armor set from CT77 but want it in a sevenbase then go here http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65479/?

It's broken down into vanilla armors, dawnguard, and dragonborn all setup for Sevenbase.

Oh and that set is one of the easiest to convert back to a cbbe/uunp shape with the unpconvert tool that is included in bodyslide (so if you don't like bombshell and instead want it in cleavage or unpbo, or unp skinny you can convert them to uunp's base shape then convert them to the shape you want).

Note: You will need to build the body, hands, and feet in bodyslide to the shape you want if you go with UUNP.

Or you can leave bodyslide on the "Zeroed sliders" preset and create the morph files (*.tri files) and run it with racemenu 3.1 or greater and morph the shape of the body hand and feet inside the game (will call for running the racemenu uunp morphs esp that comes with bodyslide).

Note: UUNP's base shape is the same as the CBBE base shape from bodyslide so with the "Zeroed sliders" preset the body has a cbbe shape (but at a higher poly count and uses unp textures due to the unp uv map). For morphing, you need to bring up race menu and go inside the uunp morph menu (should be between races and body) and pick a body shape and set it to 1 (all the way to the right). Oh there are cbbe sliders included as well so you can tweak the body even further (they are at the bottom of the morph menu).

Note: only use 1 full body morph, do not use seven base and bombshell as it would probably look very ugly.

Have fun

- Edit -

Forgot to mention you will need to run XPMSE (2.6 is great as groovtama has put all kinds of good shit into it).

And Sexlab animations work great with UUNP (I run uunp special + sos + non sexlabs animation pack along with the regular sexlabs 1.59c and MNC sets... loads of animations).

Forget about the whole CBBE vs UNP thing, it's obsolete. Unified UNP is the only way to fly. It's utterly marvelous.

I like 7b's thighs but I hate the boobs. I've just converted Chrono's vanilla armor mod to UUNP and I have it set up for Race Menu's in-game morph capability, so I've been able to try different things on the fly. I've found I really like a combination of UNPK low weight (slider at around 55) which ups the thighs and ass and gives boobs quite a pleasingly realistic shape. But adding a touch of CHSBHC high weight at around 35 translates as a bit of a boob job, and the end result is just about my perfect body shape.

Add UNP's unparalleled texture support to that mix and it's a no-brainer.

I think my rig is a little on the light weight side of things:

I also run quite a few mods, some using scripts.

If your i5 is a dual or quad core at 3.2Ghz and the vid is capable of running skyrim at high or ultra without hickups then uunp should not be a problem.

my box is a old as dirt AMD A8 3850 (quad core 2.9Ghz), and up until it burned out I was running an ati hd 6750 1GB vid.

Currently I'm running an R7 265 (basically a hd 7870 2GB card with a new name).

I run script heavy sometimes and script light at other times (different mo profiles).

Mod organizer, once you install it and set it up.... you will never look back.

As for the other question:

Since most of the sexlab default animations are designed for unp (Ashal listed that a long time ago) alignment is not an issue with UUNP (well minus the SOS cock but a little page up or page down on an animation to point it correctly solves that problem).

GOOSER!

Light weight rig? HA! I say to you.... HA!

I'm running on a Mac mini

Intel i7-3615QM @ 2.3 GHz

Integrated graphics are Intel HD 4000 (no dedicated graphics card at all)

16GB system memory

I've got a couple of profiles in Mod Organizer using UUNP bodies. From basic UNP, to UNPB, to 7B and 7BO(ppai).

What I'm finding is that SL animations seem to kine up better by default using the UNP bodies. UUNP Special even has an "operable" vagina that seems to be working better than the 2 others I've tried.

Using HDT 14.28

I have 112 mods in the profile I just checked. That's esm and esp and includes skyrim and update and the patches, but.... 112. Some profiles have many more.

Some are big, like apache skyhair, SG Hair, and those types. I use Fairskin UNCompressed textures (both for UNP and CBBE... I just like that texture set)

All the SexLab stuff, romance, schlongs, Devious Devices, Apropos, Milk Mod, SGO, Random Sex, and..... works fine. UUNP has been trouble free although I *DID* have to look around and find armors and stuff. I haven't gotten into converting. I just wanted to try the BODY and see how I liked it.

I don't yet understand how to use the morphs in Racemenu. But this body ... UUNP any shape you want... is pretty darn slick. I just have to find all the textures, armors, and all that crap that I collected for CBBE as I've been using CBBE a long time now and haven't messed with UNP because I hated the way it scaled breasts and belly. UUNP bodies scale beautifully!

AND.... if you're going to rebuild from scratch, I strongly suggest Mod Organizer. When I rebuilt my Skyrim install (wipe and rebuild from scratch), I got Skyrim OUT of the Windows ProgramFiles folders and just put it in a folder I named C:\Games. (So.. C:\Games\Skyrim) Mod Organizer is in C:\Games as well. Then you can start making profiles in MO. I can have Profiles set up for CBBE, UNP, or I can have a profile just for running through SexLab Solutions, Or I can make a profile and mess around with Sex Slaves. Without ever touching my "clean" Skyrim install so I'll never screw it all up again adding and removing mods.

BUT.... back to bodies...

UUNP... any UNP shape (or CBBE shape for that matter) you like. Better out-of-the-box alignment in SL animations.

The ONLY con would be that you... like me.... being a long time CBBE user, will have to start gathering UNP-based .... stuff.

I'm also kind of in a similar position.  I love Bodyslide and frankly find myself only willing to use my own custom mesh configurations.

With UUNP having the same base shape as bodyslide, does that make all bodyslide-compatible armors available for use with UUNP?

How exactly does the morphing process work?  Do you need to go armor-by-armor or is it all applied through a one-time use of RM?

Probably more questions to follow as well.  I hear a lot of buzz about UUNP but haven't really found much about the experience of using it.

Seems like it's down to preference for CBBE or UUNP.

Personally I wish someone just made a write up for the different body types and HDT physics and stuff. It's annoying for a beginner when you see all these terms thrown around. BBP, TBBP, CBBE, HDT, UUNP, UNP, 7B... ugh

BBP, TBBP, HDT, and now SMP (skinned mesh physics.... very early in development I think) all refer, more or less, to "bounce and jiggle". When we first started getting some bouncy breasts, I think BBP was first. Then TBBP. These were basically animation-based motions. Then along came HDT and..... wow... PHYSICS-based motion using the built-in Havok engine in ways Bethesda simply neglected to use.

So.... those are motion acronyms

Body replacers:

I think UNP may have been the first. Or maybe it was CBBE. Regardless, those have pretty much always been the main replacers. OTHER body shapes are based off of one of those and I think, for the majority, they base off of UNP. Why? More vertices. It's STILL always been amatter of preference.

I used UNP as my first body replacer and was really happy. Then the motion stuff started taking hold. THEN.... boob scaling.... *rubs hands together with glee*.... and... *gasp!*..... belly scaling (pregnancy mods). I didn't like the way the UNP belly scaled. Tried several UNP variants.... still didn't like it. The CBBE belly, however, scaled into this little ball and I like it. The breasts also scaled more rounded... less pointy... as long as you didn't get silly, crazy with scaling. And then I discovered BODYSLIDE! Holy crap, I can make this armor FIT???... so I switched to CBBE. Still a damn nice body, but now with UUNP built in to body slide.... well... I can hardly stop drooling.

AND.... the UUNP body scales much more nicely than previous UNP-based bodies. Textures can be had for either CBBE or UNP. Popular textures (like SG Texture renewal) are available for both. So... no issues there.

Armor conversions are still a bit scarce for UUNP Bodyslide, but people will start jumping on that in a big hurry because, in my opinion, this is going to be THE body. Think about it. ONE body... any shape you want. People converting armors would be NUTS not to jump all over that.

So now you have a single body (UUNP) that can adapt to MANY shapes (including CBBE shapes), a good selection of textures, armors/clothes conversions are coming AND it seems to align better in SexLab by default.

.... I'm sounding like an info-mercial for UUNP.... but it's pretty exciting.

Thanks for the rundown. I sorta figured that BBP and TBBP were legacy options and HDT could do everything they could without specific animations but not without trial and error.

So will UUNP make CBBE obsolete as you can make any body CBBE could make before?

The reason why I'm using CBBE is because the body/character I'm using was made using CBBE and I'm not sure if switching body replacers will break it.

As to your last statement... I've switched bodies in several custom races (Succubus, Lunari, Ningheim) and didn't break anything. You just have to remember that if you switch from a CBBE body to a UNP body (or vice versa) you have to also change textures.

Well you said that UUNP has a lot of body shapes that CBBE can do so that's what I based my assumption of CBBE being obsolete on.

I used BBP before HDT because I was unaware that BBP was obsolete and it changed the body shape of my character entirely. It seems like UNP is more popular than CBBE for adult mods? I'm probably wrong but it seems like there's a ton of UNP only stuff.

UUNP surely is the the way to go - it is combining UNP with Bodyslide (and in game morphs). That does make CBBE osbolete just that it lacks armors (well you can use UNP ones but you won't be able to use sliders for it) . Strange that it didn't get its own conversions thread yet. Is it that everyone wait for CITRUS, that if i get it right is supposed to have same functionality as UUNP but with yet higher vertex count?

All these new fancy bodies are cool but for people who don't know how to edit meshes in blender/max it's as always gonna be a matter of "which body has the most or the best armors available" and currently none of them have.

I honestly can't be arsed to convert my characters ~40 clothing/armor pieces to a different body again, already did that 3 times...

So unless they bring something to the table that blows me out of the water I'm gonna stick to the already established ones.

I use UNP for one reason; I like the way it looks.

I think a body mod should be chosen for three things:  Is it aesthetically pleasing?  Are there vanilla clothing and armor replacers, and are there enough player-made ouftits for variety?  There are other considerations too but those three will make or break my decision to use a body mod.

Seems like it's down to preference for CBBE or UUNP.

Personally I wish someone just made a write up for the different body types and HDT physics and stuff. It's annoying for a beginner when you see all these terms thrown around. BBP, TBBP, CBBE, HDT, UUNP, UNP, 7B... ugh

Yeah, the acronyms are annoying.  The version I made of UNP has a nice simple name that describes what it does.  UNP Jiggle.

I don't know how to use 3DS Max or Blender. I've taken a few CBBE armors and converted them to UUNP. Not difficult. I'm not real smart and there are folks converting armors that are WAAaaay better at and much more ambitious, but it works. I've also converted a UNP (7B TBBP) armor to UUNP HDT. Additional step in that you actually have to convert it to CBBE shape first (go figure) but there's a converter that does it for you easily enough.

SOMEBODY is going to take something like ChronoTrigger's skimpy armors and convert that whole set to UUNP. Probably won't be me. :) I don't have that kind of time, but at least I've learned that I can take an armor or clothing piece, and make it BodySlideable with UUNP. Once I do that, I can make it any body shape I want.

With UUNP I'm having ZERO issues with HDT (I only do breast and butt, and working vagina. Haven't gotten belly/SoS collision to work but I remember not really liking it for more than a novelty anyways so... no big deal). Armors will come. I just can't find a good reason NOT to switch to UUNP right now. You're not limited to traditional UNP shapes. You can HAVE the CBBE shape if you like. But now instead of having profiles for CBBE with CBBE textures, and other ones for UNP with UNP textures (and armor/clothes), I can have one body TYPE (any shape) and testures for that type (UNP textures)

For me.... it's just a matter of time. Summer is here. My workshop is open, and I have stuff to build. Being retired doesn't necessarily mean doing nothing! :)

My own opinion,

Get Mod Organizer.

Make 3 Profiles, 1 for Each body CBBE/UNP/7B

Then make 3 saves 1 for each body yet again.

Then compare them.

I personally have mine set up like that, I love the UNP+7B alot but i love the freedom CBBE gives by the Bodyslide Tool(Ofcourse it now supports UNP too Yey) because i can customized the body as I want it to be, even more so with RaceMenu 3 and the latest XPMSE skeleton (Body scales) I can finetune it alot more :)

EDIT: Now if only CBBE got higher poly/vertex count.... that would be awesome.

Is there a uunp armor thread?

There will be an entire BodySlide subforum once Ashal finds the time to do it. I've contacted him and it sounded like he agreed, but is currently busy.

So until that, the existing BodySlide threads should be used for UUNP as well.

Can cbbe bodyslide armor be easily converted for use with uunp?

Yeah, I've written a minimalist guide somewhere in the last 6 pages of either of the 3 BodySlide and the UUNP thread. Sorry, I forgot where it was. :P

Basically, you load the CBBE BS project, swap the reference body, conform sliders, copy weights, fix clipping and save a new project.

YES!

I just did my first 3. One was UNP to start off with and the other 2 were CBBE. Now keep in mind I've NEVER done a conversion to BodySlide before and I can see where I have to spend more time on each slider when it's done, checking for clipping throughout the range of each one (and there's a lot of them!), but the process itself only takes like 5 or 10 minutes if you're starting with a CBBE armor.

There's an additional step when converting a UNP armor because it has to FIRST be converted to the CBBE shape. Then you move on from there.

CBBE to UUNP is pretty painless though.

The blunt truth is CBBE's topology, weighting and UV are very very basic and were never meant for anything other than standing animations and what limited posing was available at Skyrim's pre-Dawnguard time frame.

I'll never understand why Caliente spent so much time with BS and OS and never took the time to update the actual reason those utilities existed to a nice universal standard, it's not like she didn't have the means or the time to do so, if I recall Dimon even offered to help at the time.
