Earen Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 It's not too sad for every people, but for LoTR fans, I think it will... When you realize it's the end of the great trilogies... There is some hope in it.. in comparison to Gollum's Song which is, imo, deadly.. [ video ] [ / video ] doesn't works btw
B0ss plz Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 This song in my words is just beautiful. That word is rare for me to say since I don't express things like this but this makes me feel, something. Mass Effect 3's ending made me shed a few tears I shamelessly admit. I listen to this soothing song sometimes before I go to bed or just when I think of it out of the blue. The game still effects me in a way since I am so attached to my Shepard, I could never make a new character. Hell, I wouldn't mind if this song plays on my funeral if I ever get shipped out and end up biting the dust.
RapidWaterOver Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 To me this is one of the saddest (albeit overly dramatic) songs I know - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Fyib7NZ8w But this one is also pretty depressing (actually anything by this person is, doesn't help that she made them before trying to kill herself appearently - so don't listen to this one or others from her if you're not in a good place right now).
Chaos63 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Why would you want to listen to songs that make you feel bad? I don't understand.
RapidWaterOver Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Why would you want to listen to songs that make you feel bad? I don't understand. To be honest now that I think about it, this is a really good question...I suppose it's just some people's "thang", I know that I'll listen to this stuff when I'm feeling really depressed.
FetishSergal Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Good choice, but only the second saddest Alestorm song after this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFpwIEfxBP4 In case anyone notices, yeah that's the song from my signature. The song holds a special meaning for me, it really spoke to me when I first heard it during a particularly dark point in my life, and in a way helped me get through it. As much as I love it though, now every time I listen to it, I am reminded of what I was going through then, an issue which has since been resolved but I still don't like thinking about that time. Either way, it's still about the end of the pirate era, and I have a thing for pirates, so it's depressing regardless. A shame it had to end, even though pirates where scum, but they where cool scum, I wish I was piratescum so that I could find ways to justify killing everything that moves and fucking peoples eyes out. P.S I <3 pirates, I roleplay pirates often in d&d.
jadusstone Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 that song they use to play in the aspca commericals...happy mood instantly ruined
RapidWaterOver Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 that song they use to play in the aspca commericals...happy mood instantly ruined Heh, it is a little bit of a downer, but it's more of a "I'm tired of shit, but look there's hope" kind of sad. That's what I hear at least.
Coopervane Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 That's a tough one, some songs just plain have a sad sound to them, others are sad due to their subject matter. It's rather hard to pick amongst the two which i'd find the saddest.. I think i'll go with the latter though. Kashmir - Lampshade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEgz1GxFMtQ
JMKAM Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Evans Blue - Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOP6HQIzoCk It was already pretty sad, but then I watched a clip of Kevin Matisyn (Vocals at the time) saying that this song's lyrics are/are based on things specifically said to him by people, and that adds such a.... human element to the lyrics. The things sang are not just words chosen at random, they are actually things people have said to him and it adds weight to the lyrics that really pull on those heart strings. Honorable mentions: Cold - Cure My Tragedy One of my fav bands and I think almost every song they have has potential to top a list of sad songs. This one just sticks out to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm_Z5cvB6ZQ Not going to post the video's for these because they're popular enough that I think everyone knows them... Pearl Jam - Black Disturbed - Darkness Three Days Grace - Last To Know Johnny Cash - Hurt (Already mentioned in thread I see!) Downface - Alone These guys are pretty unknown, this song is amazing though, very 90s Pearl Jam sound. Best song to play on my acoustic when I'm drinking too lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_u_h-f7IK0
Dr. Thang Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 To be honest now that I think about it, this is a really good question...I suppose it's just some people's "thang", I know that I'll listen to this stuff when I'm feeling really depressed. Uh, yes? You called me?
nonusnomeni Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 sadest song for me but not for you because it is mean something to me to you nothing
RapidWaterOver Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 To be honest now that I think about it, this is a really good question...I suppose it's just some people's "thang", I know that I'll listen to this stuff when I'm feeling really depressed. Uh, yes? You called me? Aw shit I just summoned you...er, so Doctor, why do we listen to this sad stuff?
Cynical Misanthrope Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Why would you want to listen to songs that make you feel bad? I don't understand. And why would you want to listen to a song that makes you happy? I cannot speak for everyone, only for myself, and the answer is simply: You listen to music that fits your current mood.

Dr. Thang Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Aw shit I just summoned you...er, so Doctor, why do we listen to this sad stuff? Well personally, I can't stand most upbeat music, happy sounding shit, I find it cheesy and without passion. Why would I want to hear someone talk about their happiness? What do I get out of it? I like music to be passionate and intense, and nobody gets passionate and intense about being super happy. Here's another great example, this song has some of the most heartbreaking lyrics I've ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5rbU6y_sWE By the last line I am holding back tears every time. Same goes for this: Hnnng! Fight it! Fight it Thang, you weak bastard!
Blackness blackness is... Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 here's my answer to that. THERE ARE WAY TO MANY!
