One quick question about the Serana update. Will the quest play the same not matter which side you choose in the Dawnguard DLC? For me, I'm probably in the minority when it comes to this, but I join the vampires side about 75% of the time I play through Dawnguard. I imagine most users join the Dawnguard side but I thought I would ask to see if joining one side or the other is necessary for the quests to work(if so that's fine I'll join that side), or if it doesn't matter and will still play out the same (or very close to the same).

Thanks again for such a great mod, I'm really looking forward to the Serana update!

What happened to the DL link for Serana's quest?

I sided with the vampires as well. The questline is essentially the same regardless of who you side with, the only real change is motivations/who you report to. Serana's AA dialogue doesn't care who you help.

An interesting idea would to be to change the tone of the quest, depending on who you side with. If you side with the Dawnguard, then Serana's AA quest could be more sunshine and butterflies. Just slightly happier in general. But if you side with the Vampire Lords, it could take on a much darker turn. The Vampire Lord side of the DLC is pretty dark and evil, after all, and a lot of the conversation between the Dragonborn and Serana doesn't make sense as it is because:

On the vampire side of Dawnguard, Lord Harkon immediately turns you into a vampire if you join him, and the Dawnguard are forever hostile. However, Serana (AA) continues to talk to you as if you were a human and she were the only vampire of the two. It doesn't make a lot of sense and is pretty immersion-breaking.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how it progresses, though I'm stuck in the Soul Cairn because her AA dialogue doesn't show up at the beginning of Beyond Death like it's supposed to. I'm fairly certain I'm just waiting for another update at this point.

It shouldn't matter.  However, just generally speaking, the character is empathetic to Serana's plight.  (Because Romance).  So you'll have to be content with being a nice girl/guy Vampire as far as Serana is concerned.

What happened to the DL link for Serana's quest?

Gone for now.  Yes, the Alpha was removed.  Be here next Friday when it returns in all its glory as the finished update.

'Cuz I'm off all next week and I got nothing planned except finishing this thing.  Yay!

Ah, I see. I love the mod, and I think you did a fairly great job with the voicing. Take a look at the editted version of my last post if you would, and see what you think of that idea.

Oh, yeah, no.  I mean it totally sounds awesome to change the Amorous Adventure depending on who you sided with but it takes so much work.  I'm happy with the effort it takes to do just a single quest line at all through Dawnguard.  I don't have it in me to be an over-achiever on this one.

Yeah, that was an Alpha for some people who said they'd test it.  I hope you didn't load it into a "real" game.  It did say not to.  Some of that will change a bit.

And, yeah.  Maybe it does actually come off better if you play the Dawnguard side.  I suppose if I was going to recommend a side, that would be it.

Here's the mods that will conflict with USKP, and that reinstalling USKP will mess up;

Any graphical mods, like Tamriel Reloaded HD, USKP will reintroduce graphics long since replaced by that and other similar mods.

Static Mesh Improvement

Any child overhaul mod

Deadly Mutilation

Sexy armor replacers

A few armor retextures

Amazing Follower Tweaks

Any vampirism or werewolf overhaul

Cutting Room Floor

Enhanced Lights and FX

Some NPC overhauls (not Bijin)

If you reinstall USKP you have to reinstall all of those mods and probably most of your quest mods as well to avoid USKP overwriting things it shouldn't. You'll also have to reinstall the other three/four unofficial patches, and they'll probably cause the same amount of issues.

This is not quite right.  Since the USKP files are in a bsa, then reinstalling USKP does NOT overwrite anything when installing/resinstalling using NMM, and only affects other mods if you have USKP in the wrong order in your load order.  The only exception is if you are manually unpacking the USKP (and UDGP/UDBP/UHFP/UHDP) bsa files before installing with NMM.

Here's the mods that you have to uninstall if you had followed through with migrating all mods over to Mod Organizer instead:

0, including USKP, because it can't get overwritten in this way then.

True statement, whether mods contain bsa or loose files.  One of the (many) nice features of MO.

Fair enough, I just wanted to be sure that joining a particular side didn't make the entire AA dialogue sound completely out of place. Thank for letting me know!

Fair enough. If you ever get the urge to do such a thing, get in contact with me. I am a creative writer, and vampires are my specialty. I'm sure between the two of us, we could come up with a decent storyline that fits the vampire side :)

Regardless, yes, I loaded it into a real game xD That's my bad for not reading properly I suppose. Either way, this is a great mod, and you've done spectacular work.

Oh, gee, I am sorry that the warning on the Serana Test wasn't more clear and you loaded it into a real game and not just, like, a test profile in Mod Organizer.

All the stuff in Chasing Echoes got a re-do already.  You'd have to back up to prior to the completion of the quest "An Exquisite Corpse" where you take Serana to the boat to get the changes.  When the quest "Our Love Runs Red" starts it initializes everything downstream from that point to the end of Dawnguard.

I think I get where you are coming from in saying it feels like from the Vampire Side that she still treats the player like a human.  I'm guessing it has to do with the feeding.  So thanks for that feedback.  I need to get the point across in game on the Vampire Side that the Dragonborn is still the Dragonborn whether alive or undead and still the carrier of the divine blood of Akatosh either way.

And yeah, as far as two branching questlines go depending on the side, it's not the writing.  It's the idea of creating more voice files because it takes hours and hours (and hours) to do them.  Picking a few words from out of a thousand different voice files and assembling them in a new one in a way that sounds somewhat natural - that's a pain in the ass.

For what it's worth, you gave me probably the best feedback I did get out of putting the test up and I appreciate that.  Sorry it went into a real game though.

Thanks!

True, I've been installing mods through mod organizer with the BSA's set to automatically unpack in the process so I plainly forgot that it used to be a BSA archive.

You're very welcome. And really, it's no problem. I could have went ahead and just reloaded an old save from before I entered the Soul Cairn, but Serana wasn't leaving my party and I didn't feel like bringing her around constantly until she was a lover. I decided to just go ahead and start a new game. No harm, no foul.

Regardless, I understand where you're coming from. I can only imagine the amount of patience it takes to do something like that. You may be able to get away with just editting the Dragonborn's dialogue, which I would assume is considerably easier, and maybe just doing a couple minor tweaks.

Serana feeds on the player while they're still a normal human/werewolf/vampire at the docks. Perhaps have her comment later on during a different feeding about how the blood of a vampire lord either (to her surprise) didn't dilute the taste, or maybe even made it all the stronger? If you take a look at the vampires with the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles for inspiration, you'll see that the exchange of blood between two vampires is one of the most intimate things they can do.

Of course, unlike the Anne Rice vampires, AA vamps can have sex. Perhaps something that plays on the intimacy of bloodsharing, while including the actual physical intimacy of sex... The Dragonborn could comment on sex as a vampire having more feeling, more closeness, and later on down the line Serana could, after having sex with the player at least once, offer to share blood with her in a carnal embrace.

That may require too much editting and tweaking for your liking, but it's just a bit of spitballing to perhaps give you an idea of how to increase the difference between the two storylines, and perhaps give players incentive to try both sides.

So far I done all apart from the companions and Dibella ones. There were a couple of problems, one in Riften where Sapphire wouldn't advance the quest which I used the advance/set quest command and another when you come back to Riften and the girls are supposed to be waiting for you.  Mjold come into her house with me to kill those people and then would not advance but that was solved with a reload.

As far as content some of it was funny and honestly some was quite cheesy but overall it was very good. I do prefer this method of interaction a bit more lore/story friendly. The solitude quest line was very long but thats not a complaint. I like also how words/lines from the game are reconstructed for the dialogue. Overall a very good mod and integrated very well.

Thanks for giving the mod a try!

Unfortunately, Sapphire has a known game bug in the vanilla game where she will not talk to the player.  In the next release all Sapphire's  dialogue in this mod gets changed to high priority blockers, which hopefully will get around the base game bug.

Thanks

Hey Fox, will the next update be compatible with popular Serana mods that change her dialogue? Like Serana Dialogue Edit and Marriagable Serana.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52283/? <- S.D.E.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28685/? <- Marriageable Serana

I do not foresee any conflict with anything, unless they edit Bethesda's actual quests and quest stages of the base Dawnguard game.  That seems unlikely.

Otherwise, Amorous Adventures is always discreet quests which generally shouldn't interfere with things.

Hey that kissing animation ZaZ made has been included in his latest pack, any chance of making ZaZ a requiremnet for this mod?

No this is entirely not because I want you to revise a certain tailor encounter to use ZaZ anims as well.

But you could... ;)

Ran into the problem of the Ireleth quest not firing on almost exactly the same install it fired fine on last time, probably because of a script heavy companion mod (Evangeline) I've added since my last play through. Just posting here to note the problem.

Posted

Actually you most likely just didn't have Amorous as the last mod in your list, I have had no problems running that scene even on mod setups that otherwise was crashing bad and nothing else working, on the other hand that scene is the first to break if you leave Amorous as too high up the load order.

Posted

The scene ran fine on my last run through, though, but not this one, with only one mod added. But, yup, it could just have been load order. I use LOOT and don't generally hand tweak unless something breaks.

Posted

I use LOOT too, but I always have to hand-tweak, in AmoAdv there's a LOT of quests that are way more fragile than just about any other quest mod and gets broken apart, you won't be able to progress far in the Solitude questline at all if you let LOOT auto-sort it. I tried to get Sharliran to edit a global exception for Amorous Adventures so it always ended up on the bottom but he wasn't willing to.

Just for curiosity, is this mod the knid that only think in having sex with women? Because I have a woman character and until now only one man could be beded (Rolof) is there others, or this mod is just about talking girls into bed you?

Posted

Overall you are correct, you'll be doing a lot of lesbian loving but there are four men who can be bedded in the mod;

Ralof, as part of getting Gerdur

Orgnar, as part of getting Camilla (one time thing)

Farkas, romance storyline as part of the Companions

Vilkas, romance storyline as part of the Companions

(Note, Farkas and Vilkas are open for threesomes once you unlock them ;))

Most of your potential partners are female. You can romance Hod (Gerdur's husband) and a couple of the male companions. For more romance options with male characters, you may want to try the Skyrim Romance Mod. http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/1679-skyrim-romance-mod/

Hod is not available unless he was added fairly recently, only Ralof there, I listed all the ones that were available as of latest update.
