Yeah I've used Phostwood's reader several times, and put the log in before posting the first time.

I get those notes about mo2 a lot for crashes, but they've never actually been the problem. I've already put the folders as exempt from antivirus stuff and everything else I could find about that error.

I've been running this set up for a few months now, stable enough to go for hours at a time and even had a save hit 200 hours. I've triple checked any masters putting it together and never messed with creation club files in that time.

For the mo2 note, and for creation club and missing masters as well, it feels those just get thrown out when it doesn't actually know the issue. When putting my mod list together it would always say that at the end of every analyze, but the problems were always just a bad mod or some secret ini bullshit I needed to change around.

Appreciate the reply though, thanks. Guess I'll stick to 3.4.1 for now, didn't really need to update anyway until fame comments starts using the new stuff.

There is no new stuff that Fame Comments needs to update for. The hooks that FCR uses are still there in the newest SLSFR

I'm running the newest version of SLSFR and haven't run into any issues with it.

My unmatched JEENYUS does it yet again. To anyone with a similar issue, run Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and repair.

Reverting back to the old one fixed it, but the weird thing is that the updated SLSF seems to be making it crash even without being enabled. And the logs say it has to do with C++, which is what this mod is now using.

If anyone can take a look I'd appreciate it, or if it can be used to fix a bug, crash log is attached.

That's actually the exact problem I have. I think it's from missing the correct C++ redistributable

Oh no! A DISCORD SERVER??? HOW AWFUL! What evil, heartless, and lazy abomination of a mod author would want a centralized place to easily handle every issue instead of juggling a billion different locations and messaging platforms? HOW DARE THEY!

A lot of people do not like the discord platform. I have been a part of several organizations that have lost members because the org wanted to adopt discord as their primary communications hub. So for you to make fun of them does not help the situation. Lovers lab has been around a lot longer and people are comfortable here. Taking people from their comfort zone is hard enough trying to force it is worse. Good luck with your discord its your mod and your right but its not for me.

And that's fine, but don't piss and moan like this person did when you don't get support for your issues when you refuse to use the avenue available to you. Your "comfort zone" does not trump my "comfort zone". It won't kill you to use discord for a day or two to get your issues resolved. Acting like it will just makes you look like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum.

Also, mods are not "professional" level software and the community really needs to stop fucking acting like they are. It's a retarded premise.

The amount of bitching and moaning I see about FREE SOFTWARE is absolutely fucking asinine to me and I will never understand it.

Considering mods are often used to FIX "professional" level software at this point, it's not a difficult premise to understand though.  :)

Small question from me again, i am trying to use the 4.0.1 version right now but for some reason the MCM just does not appear. What kind of mod would be the most likely to interfere with this mod to prevent tne mcm from appearing?

EDIT: I also included my papyrus log, for if it is necessary.

I wonder if there's a place where questions that have been asked a billion times are answered... wouldn't it be so cool if someone, ya know, wrote down the questions that have been asked over and over again and answered over and over again and collected into one place where people could read it and get their question answered without it being asked AGAIN and having to answer it AGAIN? Man that would be SO NICE...

Another crash issue with C++ stuff in the log, and the fix if anyone else is in the same boat.

If mod enabled, but esp disabled, it crashes. Have them both off or both on.

I used to have to keep the esp disabled through character creation and alternate start, and then enable esp once I've been playing a bit to make the old version work right with locations. Don't know if new version works right off the bat but whatever. Don't have it mismatched.

Why would you need to do that?

I've never run into an issue with either Legacy SLSF or SLSFR not working with locations when active from the start, and I think I've only ever played the game once without AS-LAL installed and running. I never disable plugins when starting the game just to re-enable them later on. That can cause issues with level list population, SPID distribution, as well as other mod dependency errors.

You shouldn't need to do that juggling nonsense with 4.0.0+.

The mod is now almost entirely contained within the SKSE plugin. The esp contains the necessary Keyword forms and other things that it needs in order to interact with Skyrim correctly. So yes, you cannot disable the esp and expect things to work.

Also, hopefully this move to SKSE has finally fixed the save corruption issues because nearly all of this mod's save data has moved from the main Skyrim save to the SKSE CoSave.

@IBAGadget I did prescribe a bit of juggling when starting for people who were getting picky about papyrus errors, so maybe he's one of them. Regardless, I did TECHNICALLY put that in my install instructions previously, but it's no longer even suggested now

You carry it a little to far and take it personally. Users can not get their point across in a personal fashion and seem to be demanding or mean. There is no inflection of voice, facial expressions, and other factors to convey the human factor in a written format. You will have the same problem no matter where you go. Its more a personality trait.  Good luck with your discord.

I've been around long enough to read between the lines, and I've watched humanity become self-absorbed and entitled to the point of murdering people over it. My responses are perfectly reasonable. You've only ever seen one side of this situation, and you masquerade as the voice of reason in order to undermine my points. You don't understand the frustration of putting in hundreds of hours of work to then get shit on by people who don't take the time to read anything more than the mod's title. If you did, you would have a VERY different stance.

I used to think the same things about grumpy and irritable mod authors until I became a mod author, now I see how much anger they've been holding back.

No hate at all coming from a place of love truly because i respect coders alot, I respect the work you’ve put into this and I have no reason to even comment because tbh I dont even use this mod😅But i felt compelled too anyway because my brain wont allow me too move on but if we’re being completely honest, you posted this publicly because you want engagement and visibility and you shared it so people would download it and interact with it...so that's why im confused because why turn around and treat that very engagement like a nuisance?

When you release a project to the public even the lazy or poorly worded comments are the direct result of getting what you asked for and where you see an annoying report or question, I see a fan who liked your work. You’re choosing to read every short text comment as a personal insult, but turning fans into enemies over clumsy phrasing or stupidity is only going to hurt the very audience you built this for. You comparing comments to murder is a little farfetched to me even telling the user above they're "masquerading" and "undermining" your points is very cynical when i feel thats not what they're doing at all and makes me think you need to take a step back and just change your perspective a little, these people aren't your enemies they're your community.

this doesn't mean you have to put up with harassment yea you're completely justified there screw those people 😒but just offering my perspective.

I don't. I simply respond to the comments in the manner they deserve. If you look at ALL of my interactions with people over the last 2 years, you'll see how things developed.

I've tried many times to answer certain questions before people ask them, and if a question has not been asked before or if I did not clearly explain something, then I answer it.

The part I get frustrated with is when people ignore everything I've written in an attempt to make their lives easier and still ask me the same questions over and over again; when people ignore my guide and ask me how something works after I answered that questions at least 10 different times; when people give me attitude after asking simple but necessary questions when they have an issue with the mod, or just say "mod broken" and then refuse to elaborate; when people get shitty with me for no good reason; when people say I'm the bad guy for getting frustrated in the first place.

2 hours ago, tamai said:

Posting a file doesn't inherently mean you want people to say anything. You're making assumptions. I did NOT "ask" for anything. I saw a broken and abandoned mod and took it upon myself to make a better/fixed version for the community to utilize if they wanted. Your comments are as voluntary as my choice to make this mod. Nobody asked any of us to do anything.

2 hours ago, tamai said:

Again, I didn't ask for that. What I DID ask for is that you READ MY GUIDES AND FAQ before making any comments or asking questions, because it will probably answer most questions. So, yeah, if you ask a question I've answered a million times, I'm going to get annoyed, and the only person you can blame is yourself.

You're extremely naïve. Your one mod that was released earlier this year barely has any users, so you don't see the masses of idiots. You can handle the odd "stupid" question because they're so rare. When you deal with someone asking the same question EVERY DAY despite having answered the question NUMEROUS times, you will see why I've become so jaded. If someone is actually a "fan" then they will at least take the time to do the necessary reading or at the very least not get offended when I call them out for not doing so. People who get shitty over being told what they did wrong are spoiled brats that just want people to cater to them. If I drive those people away, then I won't lose any sleep at all over that.

I've helped plenty of people that have had genuine issues with my mods or questions that I have either not answered yet or did not do a good enough job explaining. Again, look at my comment history here on LL, look at my comment history on Nexus, and look at my interaction history on Discord. You will see two things:

1) I'm not always the "asshole" everyone tries to make me out to be. The only people who think I'm an asshole are people who either don't read or who butt in on shit they have no business in

2) I started off very accommodating and friendly to everyone. As things went on and more and more people refused to read my description and guides, as well as being demanding assholes, I became less friendly. I know I'm not the only person this has happened to. I completely understand why certain authors have had the types of meltdowns they've had, and I no longer blame them for their reactions in the way I once did. I get it now, and I honestly agree with them.

2 hours ago, tamai said:

You completely misunderstood the point I was making. I was merely highlighting the fact that people have become so addicted to instant-gratification and comfort that people will get violent over the loss of said things; people are frighteningly willing to snuff out life over things that are ultimately meaningless. Therefore my responses are well within reason. Also, pay attention to what I'm actually saying in each response. I rarely so much as cuss when making these "negative" replies. If simply responding non-positively makes me the "asshole" then I will just leave the modding scene altogether because I will only make everyone angry. I will not be your bubbly insult-slave saying "thank you master" to every comment.

2 hours ago, tamai said:

Every "community" needs a filter. The people who genuinely belong in my "community" are doing the few simple things I ask of them. They don't bitch about needing to start a new game to update. They don't cuss me out when I refuse to give them old versions of my mods. My community actually reads what I've posted and are constructive instead of being a mindless leech.

I'm extremely grateful to my ACTUAL community, because the launch of SLSFR v4 has gone extremely well in comparison to AND's v4 launch and I have to thank the people who did the testing for it, as well as the other authors that have assisted me in learning C++. I couldn't have done it without them (or at the VERY LEAST not as well or as quickly), and I will not forget that.

I try very hard to treat people fairly. Therefore, if you're going to make idiotic comments then I'm going to treat you like an idiot. With that being said, I am NOT saying YOU are an idiot. I do however genuinely believe you are naive and do not at all understand my perspective on this issue. You might think you do, but you actually don't. When you have multiple mods with tens of thousands of users, you'll see the issues I (and other "popular" mod authors) have been dealing with.

To top it off, I clearly put "I will not respond on LL" when I made the 4.0.0 update, yet people still commented asking me questions here, meaning they can't be trusted to read literally one sentence. Instead of pointing the finger at me, why are you defending the people who can't read ONE SENTENCE? Are you kidding me? How does that make ANY sense?

I really tried to word my response in a way to not try to tell you how to feel but for sure I get how frustrating that can be especially the "mod broken" you ruined my save comments I see all too often its why i fully agree with your comment about people treating mods like professionally finished products rather than mods in active development.

in a sense that's accurate but it's essentially like jumping into water and not asking to get wet, you expect it whether you asked for it or not 😅
I promise im not naive though ive been in the modding community for awhile and made many mods less so published here also i have experience running a successful art and webbased game patreon with a little over 3k community and work with a programmer for 8 years now where it makes up most of my income, so i have had my fair share of dealing with people and silly questions.

Thanks for writing all this out and honestly most of it is entirely reasonable in the way you responded but it reads as you being frustrated to me is why i felt the need to respond, I guess I just wanted to say don't let the weight of all these comments get to you so much that you end up tearing down people who are actually trying to help or support you because i’ve seen other mod authors become so jaded from burnout and leave the community and I just hate seeing it happen, we can reset ourselves and choose how we respond to things and we have to remember we all were at a time guilty of not reading the mod description and asking stupid questions already answered, at least i know i was lol

I'll say the comment section is the same as discord you dont have to respond to every comment there are mods that haven't been updated in years still getting comments sharing problems and there are always helpers people who stick around willing to answer questions, sometimes not responding at all is better than writing a mean comment.

for the record i dont think you're an asshole and none of this is meant to be accusatory its just my perspective i just feel like you're overwhelmed and if it came off as me tearing you down i swear its not intentional and i apologize 🙏 I'll not say too much more than that really again nothing but love and respect and best wishes to you and your mods!~

I get what you're saying here, but I'd argue that I put on a life preserver (FAQ and Guides) and am frustrated that it isn't helping me float (still answering the questions the FAQ and Guides already answer).

----------------

Thank you for being mature and understanding in this conversation  I understand your intent, and I very much appreciate your care and concern. Believe it or not I'm supposed to be on a hiatus right now, but I also didn't want SLSFR v4 sitting in BETA limbo for no reason. If there are no more major issues with SLSFR v4, I'm probably going to disappear for a few weeks, because you are correct in saying I'm overwhelmed, and admittedly that's partially my own fault.

You deserve a nice vacation from all the modding you've been doing. Don't be afraid to take as long as you need. Also avoid checking your discord or anything work related.

1. You asked if there was something that could interfere with the MCM not showing up.

Yes. The guide tells you that this is an issue with SKYUI, especially if you have a large load order. It can sometimes take several minutes for a new MCM to appear, especially if you have not started a new game, or if you did, you did not give the system time to load everything and register the menus before running around and doing something. Jumping in and starting to play right after exiting Racemenu on starting a new game puts extra stress on the system and can cause MCM startup scripts to fail as the game engine prioritizes other processing.

2. You made no mention at all of having read the FAQ or the Guide

3. You made no mention at all of any remedies you might have tried to get the MCM to appear

did you try the following console command?     setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1

This command forces SKYUI to re-run the MCM startup scripts, catching ones that missed being processed the first time around.

It's best to not do anything in the game until the process has completed it's run through (wait until all the MCM messages stop appearing in the top left corner of your screen)

Admittedly, reading comprehension works best when there is a lot of information presented.

You provided almost none

In regards to the question you asked in your post, the FAQ does indeed answer it.

In your follow up post indicating that you fixed it, you also provide no information.

What did you discover the cause was?

What did you do that ultimately lead to the issue being resolved?

Answering these questions provides information to other users that may have a similar issue, giving them an avenue to try to resolve their problem before resulting in asking vague questions with no context.
