Maybe a silly question, but something I am curious about.

I play on 1.5.97 with a heavy quest/combat LO (2.5-3k)+ Mods, so I had always avoided SexLab in favor of Ostim, due to how script heavy SexLab always has been, which tends to break save games in Heavy LO's like mine.

From reading here, it seems dis mod triggeres all of SL scripts/events first then does the OStim scenes, So this wouldnt really have any reduction or impact of Script Load SexLab would add on normal use right?

Please correct me if wrong, because Im interested in some non creature SL mods, but don't want to end up bricking saves later xD

Thanks a lot :)

The last update of this mod was in mid-2024, is there any new update to be released?

I'm having a problem, using a Futa NPC. The Regular female uses male animation. Before you say, check your settings. All my setting are set for the Futa to be in the role as the male. Test it by pushing up on the Key pad and set to males role. Regular SexLab has the Gay animation turn off.

hey  you said in changelogs 1.2.0 version has fixed for sometimes mods starting sexlab scenes but for me its still using sexlab scenes not ostim standalone after a while how to fix it.

I tried everyting and cannot get this mod to work correctly. I tried it with Public Whore and it goes to SexLab without going through Ostim.

Is the load order supposed to be :

Ostim

Sexlab

Whatever Sexlab mod

Sexlab to Ostim?

Playing with Diary of Mine suite (PAHE, AYGS, HSH and DOM) and this works for me perfectly. Thanks for this mod

not for me. it kinda does, but the moment I try to start an animation via DOM it fires a sexlab animation, SOMETIMES it starts an ostim animation, and it keeps reverting both actors to the sexlab animation

Edit: somewhere in the thread people mention p+ could be the culprit of that which I had installed, will have to test without

Edit2: it does NOT work with P+, use with basic sexlab and nothing else and it will work fine

You are correct... The SexLab stub gets used by the calling mod (and needs to be in the LO for the Dependency checks), but the animation is fired in Ostim.

SexLab does not "fire up"... or at least.. not till it does.

The SexlabToOstim bridge stops working sometimes... and the scene will play out in Sexlab instead of the desired Ostim environment.

You have to leave the game and come back in for functionality to be restored.

I would say that after 50 or so animations, Sexlab will fire up instead of Ostim.

But in most of my time playing, and the fact that I mostly use Ostim native mods, I rarely see the problem in most of my playthroughs.

Another common misshap of this mod is gender reversal.  For some mods, the way they call the actors, for some reason, I find myself on the wrong side of the animation (actor gender reversed).  For instance, M.E.I. (Maven Elenwen Ingun, the mod) plays all the kissing animations gender reversed, but the full monty (sex) plays correctly.  Go figure.  Sexlab actually has a gender reversal key bind, but Ostim does not.

There are a few Sexlab only mods that I have loaded over time, and I really did not want to use Sexlab (like you).  This mod really works... no complaints.  Otherwise I have found most of my confort mods in Ostim now, and I rarely rely on this mod.

I just tried an older sexlab only mod "Sex Slaves", and it worked perfectly... most of the time even matching the Sexlab animation to an Ostim one.

I play with SexLab 1.63 nad it's worked for me as should. Try one of 2 options btw:
1. Don't register any animation through SLAL with new game. And also install mod that disables SexLab standard animation sets. The SexLab animation not starting because no animations is registered, so after fade out OStim works good (this method that I using rn).
2. Register all animations with SLAL and restart the game (exit by console "qqq"). Also some folks said it's worked in this way, tho I'm not trying this by myself.

it's already been working for me but I'll try that "disable sexlab animations" mod

I don't use slal (unless you mean the MCM one) and I never gave sexlab the command to build animations so maybe that's why it's working now, my problem was trying to run it with P+. Since we're at it, would utility+ make the scene request come faster? It's not SLOW but it's not as fast as ostim either

This is very strange. I tried to test this mod on a nearly vanilla setup, but it seems to do nothing for DOM at all. :(

Try to install SLAL and register standard animation set from SexLab. After this it should work

Seems like the mod needs to have SL anims installed (maybe  I'm wrong, though). I keep getting the message that "this won't work" because "all anims of a given category have been blacklisted, presumably because I have zero SL anims installed.

Yeah, there is some handshaking happening directly with the SexLab engine before the actual animation "starts" and SexlabToOstim takes over.  It is clear to me that Sexlab is doing "something" because of all the screen "bouncing" that occurs even if the scene DOES play in Ostim in the end.  It is the tell tale that whatever you are doing was a Sexlab based call instead of an Ostim native one (because a native Ostim scene loads instantly).

We always knew that SexlabToOstim was a band-aid ...a well built one, for which we are very grateful for, but a band-aid none-the-less.

Sure, and I wasn't complaining (nor am I accusing you of saying I was complaining), just observing. But now that I think of it, doesn't SL come with a few animations, even if you don't install any add-on animation packs? If that's true, my issue must be something else.

Oh... I am not the author... just another user like yourself... helping a brother out.

Been on the intimacy trail for a while now, and FG was my starting point, it sucks.

Then I started using Sexlab, which is functional, and has a large library of content, but it is clunky, and to my experience, unreliable.

Seven months later I discovered Ostim.  The very first time I fired up Ostim it worked "like magic",  I never went back.

It does appear as if Sexlab Animations, some basic ones, must be loaded.

For my experience, the last time I re-installed all my mods from scratch, I installed Sexlab first, loaded a couple f animations IN GAME, then I leave the game and add SexlabToOstim to the LO and it just works.

For your environment, disable SexlabToOstim using the MCM, and see if your Sexlab animation loads.  Best way to start troubleshooting.

Side note... I recently switched to Pandora.  I never touch FNIS, and Nemesis is now retired.  Works perfectly.

Appreciate the feedback, suggestions and help.

I used to use FNIS, now I use Nemesis. Maybe time to switch to Pandora? I'm right against the edge of the number of animations in Nemesis. I will try your suggestions after paring down some animations.

Another thing I noticed was after installing SL and SL2Ostim was that Ostim stages ramped up to greased lightning speed. The stage started and the actors were orgasming in seconds. So for the moment, no SL/SL2Ostim for me.

Even he renowned Shadowman still releases SexLab only mods (he released one today)... and claims he does not even have Ostim installed.  Puzzling.

Since the name of the game for players like me is to play with newly released mods, particularly intimacy/companion mods., and SexLab continues to be a regular feature in newly released content, and I despise the Sexlab interface... I keep SL2O installed.

Frankly, as it pertains to SL2O, it has become a rarely used tool, that I use only when trying out a newly discovered mod.  It certainly isn't a "production requirement" and could  probably be off my mod list for most playthroughs.  As of TODAY, all of my intimacy mods are Ostim Native.  Apparently I am missing out on bestiality, but... well... to each their own.  Being unable to be raped by a werewolf is fine with me. (SL supports Creatures, while Ostim does not, sort of).  The other big "feature" hangup of SL is furniture like "Devious Devices", but even that is now working under Ostim.  (I recently did a playthrough with Yuriana, and Sex Slaves SSE, and the girls were all properly shackled)

Pandora: it will take you 30 minutes to switch.  Just do it.  Read the install instructions and it will be flawless.  Not only intimacy related, there are so many animations for Skyrim now... from swimming, to smoking pipes ("Pipes yo") and playing instruments... weapon handling, sexy walks/idles... I now have 34k animations in Pandora.  CRAZY.

Pandora never crashes while processing animations, while Nemesis was temperamental, sometimes running well time after time, and sometimes requiring multiple re-starts before the full animation list was processed.  Even ZaZ v8 is running.  Oh, get OAR installed as well... I am guessing you already have.

Sure, plenty of non-intimate anims installed. And OAR, you bet. I would feel my install was as naked without it as I would if it were without DBVO (some people prefer an unvoiced protag, but I am not one of those people). My experience with Nemesis is similar to what you describe: sometimes flawless, sometimes gotta run it 3 or 4 times before it gets through everything.

So sounds like job 1 on your list of advice is "switch from Nemesis to Pandora."

I would say so.  Pandora is better in every way.

DBVO... tried once... and it crashed my system.  I never tried again.  Your endorsement makes me reconsider.

Sorry to hijack this thread but can I ask... what OStim Animation packs do you have installed? Specifically are you using any of the SexLab ports available on LL here? I have been having issues with being able to select group sex animations when the player is Female via the OStim menu. The one I am currently focusing on is the Funnybiz port:

Are you using this animation pack and do you see the same issue? I am trying to figure out if this is a problem with the animation pack itself or if this is just a local issue with me.
