Okay, let's end it there, shall we?

I think the original point has been missed.

Another reason why I prefer Enhanced Character Edit is because of rxkx22's great works such as:  Toccata, Seranaholic (Serana) and Bijin Warmaidens.  They were all created with ECE.  And people often like to stigmatize that ECE is only good for creating anime-like characters.  Ignorance is bliss, huh? *smh*

To me, RaceMenu has yet to prove itself in that regard.  And to all of the people that say that ECE is obsolete:  some people just don't need all of the extra bells and whistles that RM provides to make great looking characters.  Some people just prefer to keep it simple.  What's wrong with that?

because people hate to try new things.  Racemenu v3.0 blew ECE to extinction.  From face sculpting to import any faces, even ECE stuffs. I was using ECE for over year, after switching to Racemenu.  Never went back and now with v3.0.  All i can say is ECE whatttttttttttttt ?  what's that ?

my take on Toccota using Racemenu v3.0 and makeover.

[...]

The original point Muramasa was making was to counter arguments that ECE could only make anime looking characters. That's why he brought up rxkx22 and Toccota.

If RM3 can do it too, great. But that doesn't invalidate the point that ECE can used for a wide range of styles.

Well, to each his own.

Precisely. :3

I mean, in fairness, there's nothing wrong with ECE or anything. It was advanced for its time and still matches up pretty well against RM for what it does - RM only just got to the point where it can do the same job ECE could do with faces, let us not forget.

Well, I've been using ECE since forever and that's why I still use it. I'm pretty sure RM is the better choice now, though. But one cool thing about ECE is that it comes with a custom race. I know, a very small and minor detail since it's only a copy of the nord race anyway but it has it's own folders and all that which makes it pretty easy to mess with skeletons, meshes and textures without blowing up your whole game. You know, I don't want a fancy new race or anything like that, just a nice template to do what I want without changing all NPCs.

The race is part of ECE not of CME, so it could be used with RM3 out of the box. The whole part that is incompatible with RM3 are the CME part of ECE, aka the sliders for skeletons nodes, and emotions and extra face misc stuff.

00 Main <- CME stuff incompatible, except

00 Main\meshes\actors <- meshes compatible with RM3

01 ECE <- Presets, Race edits fully compatible with RM3

02 YgNord <- 01 + the custom race, fully compatible with RM3

Option - No Cheeks Fix <- compatible

Option - No Vampire Cheeks <- compatible

Cool, good to know :)

I use RaceMenu because I do not like the way ECE changes the vanilla face morphs. I can't speak on interface vs. interface, since ECE only lasted about ten minutes before I started deleting it.

2 very valid points.

I recently pointed the first one out in another thread, apparently many people never noticed how your vanilla presets (or from mods like Bretonnia / Children of Skyrim) get terribly deformed into bad anime faces like in "One Piece" just due to ECE/CME hacks. It is simply impossible to make them look like they were designed, even with the "compatible" version.

And the interface is only made for a gamepad. You can't click through the lists, instead you always have to cycle through all races and other options which is just a waste of time and harddisk durability.

Not to mention how different the Vertex Edit modes are in both mods.

I used to be a huge ece lover because I like animeish younger characters and didnt really give rm a chance. But thn my pc died and needed to reinstal everything on a new pc. I thght might aswel instal rm to try out the overlays and check out what kind of char I could create.

It took some time getting used to but I can definatly say I have no need to go back to ece. For me personally they are both equal now at this point. I can create my style of character on both now and racemenu feels alot cleaner now.

And one of my favourite new features on rm3 (next to sculpting of course) is the ability to quickly browse trough all my poses now!! Oih gawd it saves alot of time

Huge thank you again @Groovtama, RM3 rocks. Imo I got a way better looking face now, in just a few minutes of tweaking. There are so many options now, RM has really evolved into a much better character creator than ECE. And the best thing is I can now use all the cool stuff RM has to offer, like overlays and such and I don't need to abandon my beloved ygnord race.

I use to argue about which is better, ECE or RM, then I got a life and I never looked back.

Anyway, in agreement with some posters, use what you like.

Must be an extraordinary life you got there, posting about it on the internet.

Yes it is.  My house has hot and cold champagne running from the taps, once a year I hold a Bocce Ball tournament in my backyard, and world leaders visit for wine and cheese and rounds of buck-naked Bingo.  :P

Read the description for what it does and requires!

(porting ECE character to RM)

Thanks to expired for the help (even though he could've easily done this himself within 5 minutes).

I bookmarked it now.

I started out with RaceMenu but moved over to ECE, simply because the color functions doesn't work in RaceMenu (ime) and it was super annoying, i tried the extended color slider but despite the 1665 or whatever amount of colors, it felt extremely limited as it only "shaded on top" and didn't color thoroughly (what I mean is, if you use extended color slider to choose for instance a red skin, and you're a dark elf whose vanilla skin would be bluegreenish, you will get a weird purple texture and can never really get rid of the underlying vanilla color. Getting a normal skin color using that mod was impossible) and the built-in colorchooser in RaceMenu simply never worked, so I just chose ECE and got my character to look the way I want. The only problem I've had so far is that when I choose war paint it doesn't seem to stay and I have to rechoose it whenever I open the showracemenu through console... I do miss the GUI for RaceMenu though

Everything color related works just fine for me in RM. You're doing it wrong.

Extended Colors whatever isn't needed with RM anymore.

Possibly. But ECE works just fine for me, and I found nothing in RM's FAQ about what was going on with the colorpicker not working, and I had already fiddled with it for so long because installing SKSE was a pain in itself that I gave up without spending an hour googling what could be wrong for once :P

Seriously how can installing SKSE be a pain in the ass, there is an installer and a video for it. And why is SKSE being a pain in the ass to install a reason to pick ECE over RaceMenu or vice versa, both need it! Both don't function without it installed correctly.

and BTW

TROUBLESHOOTING

...

If neither hair color nor tint colors do anything this means that your SKSE scripts are not up to date. Note: This still requires you actually have and run SKSE.

That is what I found when I search on the RaceMenu description page for the word "color" which took 1 sec of time.

Why pick one? I use both at the same time...

Because it doesn't make sense and they're incompatible. RM has all features and more than ECE has.
