Did you install RM in the middle of a game?
My assumption (based on the 6 words you posted :S) is that you were Christian, then you freed the keeper of souls, but RM was not installed/loaded correctly so the game was unable to make you the head of the Regula faith. Instead it just made you the head of faith of your current religion.

I suggest restarting the game, in the character creator make sure you can see the Regula faith as an option like so (but don't pick it!)
This way you know the RM faith exists.

All you said is true, instaled middle of a game and christian. But I started a new game and RM is there in the ruler creator. so It can´t be installed wrong, right?

Female magister?

Not possible at the moment. Probably not possible ever because all the localization would have to be rewritten.

Seeing as you mentioned it. ? When I used the original RM last year I used to have as many wives as I wanted but with this new version I got to about 1 full row. Now they are all starting to die off so I'm down to about 5 or 6 and can't find anyone to marry. ☹️ Am I missing something?

There might be a conflict with the current mods you have installed and it can sometimes be one that you wouldn't think would cause an issue. In the past I had an issue where it limited what I could see to just a few spouses though it would let me go past it and I've included a screen shot below of the conflict as an example. The mod is Factions Explained which really confused me that it was causing the issue since I didn't think that would have anything that would affect spouses. My advice is to disable one of your mods and start a new game (I normally use Ivar, one of the 867 Norse leaders in England, as he can immediately afford the book and land people allowing you to have the Keeper of Souls freed very quickly) to check if it gets rid of the restriction.

Broken due to another mod

image.png.88b5136820eab75abb3cbee1ed56a9e1.png

How it should look (shows one row but clicking Secondary Spouses bar expands it to show all)

Thanks. I'll give it it a try later.

EDIT:

Well it works properly on a new game so that will do for me.

EDIT: I have Secondary Spouses and Concubines. ?

Since I saw Gallowlasses mentioned, I'll throw in my own suggestion for "regional/cultural MAA types":

Many many years ago, I recall that there was some confusion over the Nubing retinue for Han culture in Crusader Kings 2 - somehow or other, they were thought (for a few brief moments) to be woman-soldiers (nope, crossbow-soldiers). There's a difference in the tone, or something.

Looking it up when I remembered this: 奴. It says "Nu". It means "servant" or "slave". And according to wiktionary's claim as to the origin of the character, it represents "a hand capturing and ordering a woman around".

Han maidens with crossbows, perhaps? Tah dah, nubing. Or, "Captured-And-Commanded-Woman Soldiers", if you will.

The accolade "Vanguard" increases the Max Size of Heavy Infantry Regiments (My vanguard is max level so that's +6). I just got the Spartiate, which is a Heavy Infantry regiment, but is not receiving the max size increase like my Huscarls and Varangian Veterans. The accolade is active because the vanilla Heavy Infantry show the correct max (14/14) while the Spartiate is showing the same as, say, my Bondi (6/6). I have waited two months just in case there was a monthly update.

So I don't have that same unit, or any other accolade unit so now I get to do some troubleshooting, so I'm making an assumption that the Spartiate is the heavy infantry accolade unit. If this is the case accolade units have a built in cap of 4-8 (the wiki lies) and the heavy infantry accolade is one of the ones that caps at 6.

Edit: Found it in the files after I posted. Spartiate is the Virgo accolade unit and the cap is at 6. If you would like to change it you can go into the mod folder using the path below and edit or remove the max_sub_regiments. Fair warning though, that unit is strong even with the cap and removing it will pretty much remove any battle difficulty unless you try to solo a full crusade.

RM requires either a new game, or very careful/involved save game editing to apply to one already in progress. This is mainly due to how CK3 handles custom religions from my understanding of things. It might also be an implementation issue with how RM was initially coded, but at present it only initializes when  you start a new game.

I had a look in the files myself and figured out that Spartiate is a replacement "Retinue Vanguard" -- I wish it was named Spartiate Vanguard or Retinue Spartiate or something to indicate this. I was very confused as to why it vanished from the recruitable list when I chose it. I was also very confused as to why I don't have the ability to recruit Virgos, and figured that Spartiate was a Norse regional name for Virgo or something, which didn't make sense. If I had known it was a Retinue, then the cap would have made sense.

Virgo, though, appears to be copied from the House Guard from Private Army legacy rather than any of the other innovation based MAA. This makes it very confusing, because it's not acting the way I expected from it being an innovation MAA and there's no text indicating the change in behavior. If it had been a replacement for House Guard, I would expect it to have the cap and be only recruitable once, though the fact it is replaced by Spartiate is unexpected either way.

Just a lot of odd behavior with this Virgo innovation that doesn't act the way other innovations do and doesn't have any text to indicate this divergence.

Unfortunately, in CK3, faiths are initialised once when the game starts and that's it. Adding or removing new faiths cannot be done (well, maybe with extreme save-editing shenanigans but probably very error prone etc).
Since you now have RM in the faith list, you did install correctly, so any new campaigns would be fine.

It would be tough, not just the localization, but all of the male/female specific checks and triggers would have to be rewritten.
If I (or someone else!) were to do this, I would want a game rule for "Magister Sex" and "Harem Member Sex" to allow a player to customise it.
Though, right now its just not in scope for things I want to do.

Good idea, I've been meaning to make a Regula crossbow unit for a while now, so I'll make them Chinese themed.

Fair enough, I'll look at renaming these or better indicating them.
FYI, as you've noticed, Virgo are House Guards, which is why you can only recruit one of them. The Virgo innovation is there as a simple requirement, as there is no Regula Legacy perk track yet. Spartiate are then the captain/accolade version of Virgo, so they are meant to be a direct upgrade, which is why you can only have one of them to.
Technically you can have one Virgo and one Spartiate, but this wasn't my intention.

The regular heavy infantry unit for Regula realms are the Sacerdos, which have a "captain" unit called the Frumentarii. These units get the MAA bonus size for heavy infantry.

Suggestion: It might not be necessary to rename them if you change the tooltip of the Virgo innovation to be more like the Famuli Warrior tradition and say something like "* Replaces accolade retinues with their Famuli counterparts: Spartiate, (etc)" or "* Spartiate replaces Retinue Vanguard (etc.)" The first is more succinct yet explanatory, while the second allows the user to compare the unit and what it's replacing.

You mean to tell us, that there is plans for a Regula Legacy? Noice

Honestly speaking, I don't think there's a point trying to answer and respond to all the bugs that arise from mod compatibility issues.

People should realize that this is a major overhaul to the base game, and therefore configure their mod playlist accordingly: stick to maximally compatible cosmetic/QOL mods.

If you're gonna play this with another total overhaul like GoT or Elder Scrolls, then don't bother wasting the dev's time with your inevitable bugs.

Has anyone encountered problem when the most of Regula related characters (like Paelexes) do not have eyes?

image.png.b6b51eaebbd11470bf6b271e37116f42.png

I have this in error.log but I'm not sure if that related to the problem. And not sure what causes this error message.

[12:13:11][portraitaccessories.cpp:63]: could not find entity [regula_female_eyes_pink_entity] - file: gfx/portraits/accessories/regula_bodyparts.txt line: 2
[12:13:11][portraitaccessories.cpp:63]: could not find entity [regula_female_eyes_violet_entity] - file: gfx/portraits/accessories/regula_bodyparts.txt line: 6
[12:13:11][portraitaccessories.cpp:63]: could not find entity [regula_female_sclera_pink_entity] - file: gfx/portraits/accessories/regula_bodyparts.txt line: 10

I'm using GitGud repo version.

So far it seems that "regula_female_eyes_pink_entity" is not defined anywhere.

Are you missing the file https://gitgud.io/ban10/regula-magistri/-/blob/master/Regula_Magistri/gfx/models/portraits/female_head/regula_female_eyes.asset ?

The launcher always tells me this was made for a different game version. If i change the game version and restart the launcher it keeps telling me again it was made for another game version.

So what exactly is the game version compatible for this mod version?

Have a look at supported_version in the file "Regula_Magistri.mod" in your CK3 mod folder (or on Gitgud).

The latest version of RM is for CK3 1.10.*, so anything 1.10.0+ should work.

Thank you very much. ?

I just updated to 2.7.1 (hadn't noticed the update). Some good changes in here. Especially limiting the number of palaces. On my previous save I was barely out of the Early Medieval age, and was running around with almost 3000 light cav out of a single MAA regiment, due to having 5 Palace holdings. I also like the "steal traits" function.

Anyone know which file the cost of starting a holy order is in? I mean the 500 gold, prestige, piety.

Holy Order cost is in the decision folder.

Thanks but what I want is where the actual amount is so that I can alter it. Where it gets the number for - "value = holy_order_gold_cost" and "value = holy_order_piety_cost".
