In a few days Fallout will be patched by Bethesta.


I have a pretty bad memory of patching games, for Skyrim for example it broke my Mod construction so much that I stopped playing it...
I tried to find out how, on Steam, you can prevent the download of patches on a game but I don't see the option. I can just decide that it only happens if I play the game. Can anyone tell me how to set Steam to prevent patch downloading?


Unless, of course, this update has no impact on Mods, but I can't find any information on that.

As I understand it, setting it to "On Launch" means it won't patch so long as you keep using f4se to launch unless it acts up, someone posted somewhere a file that can be set to read only to supposedly block the accidental patching too but I can't remember where I saw it.

What i've done as i dont trust setting it to be read only is enough is go \Steam\steamapps and amend

appmanifest_377160 is fallout 4 , appmanifest_489830 is skyrim SE

 

As they don't match as i've stuck read only on the end steam doesn't consider them installed so doesnt try and update them, the exception being after you've played it so always best to play those two in off line mode and then if you want to go online close and restart steam so it doesn't consider them installed again while your online

You can play Nuka ride after commonwealth slavers but by default if both are installed commonwealth slavers kills the robot you talk to, to start Nuka Ride outside vault 111 and the one at the diner won't allow you to travel to nuka ride while a CS slave

Hi guys, im new to fallout 4 modding, so im sorry if that is a dumb question.

I installed all the mods and look like they are working fine.

So, i went to Murphy outside the vault 111, and he says "im hurt" than stand up and only says "This is the begging of your new live slave get used to it"

And follows me forever pushing me around and walks in circles. So how can I start the quest 1 "Lucky Day”?

I tried to look at the pip-boy for new mission, but only "Out of time" would show up.

I also tried fast travelling to the Whore House but the door is locked and no one is there.

I also tried "SetStage _CS_Thorns 0" on the console with no sucess, sad

Without having okayed that i dont think the scripts/mod starts

 

I'd suggest making a new game (with this you can do it pretty quick SKK Fast Start New Game - FastStart a new game in less than 2 minutes from Main menu.) and then walking towards Murphy but don't talk to him (Don't push E) until that pop up appears when your close enough to him

Set those files to be  "read only" in the property window.  There was a post earlier about plus I've seen several video's that say the same thing.

In addition to the other suggestions, I'm backing up my entire Steam folder so I can restore any/all files later (the last time FO4 got an update, it was sufficient to just revert the EXE file for it from a backup, but no guarantees it will be the same this time). If you care about your saves, back them up too.

On the mission Scaver, I'm finding that Medium Sized Bomb is awesome at taking out pretty much any enemy I come across, except Molerats for some reason, who he completely ignores! As I'm trying to roleplay as a traumatized, doormat of a submissive addict, that's too scared to even fire a gun any more, and responds to any enemy by running straight back to a master to save me, this is proving a bit of a problem when I get savaged by the little buggers! - I got around it last time by using a scavenged shotgun to take them out, but that display of actual competence is not really what I'm going for here!

 

Is there any reason why it would be just molerats being ignored, and is it a setting (or likely mod conflict maybe?) that I could change for a future run?

Holy crap, I know why it happens. It's something that's been around since I introduced the true ending. Basically I was testing something with MediumSized and I put molerat faction on him! But I forgot to take it out.

 

I'll have it ready tonight, there are almost no reports luckily, it's pretty stable so I'll keep an eye out for another report of this kind.

  • Make sure you have Sex Attributes installed. 
  • Make sure my mod has priority in your load order, that it loads among the last ones.
  • Better test it without Nuka Ride installed, and without any quest mods while you're at it.
  • As you were told, use SKK Fast Start to start and test fast.

Hm, I have no clue anymore what to do: Snoopy is missing after the scrap-hunt with Mdeium Bomb. Nowhere to be found...was also a probem that Jared was not there, and the other brothers did not make any attempt to follow him outside to Medium Bomb, causing the collar to explode. I could manage to get Jared and the brothers out somehow eventually...but Snoopy the Wonderdog is still missing, causing the quest to eventually screw itself...

 

I found some other having had this problem - but I tried the "prid XX05a6a6" command - it does not find Snoopy. Replaced XX with my mod ID of course...is this even the correct one?

 

Is there a way to check if the quest "works" when I load a previous save? Got one right before talking to Medium Bomb, but not sure I wanna go through all this just to find out again Snoopy is missing...any trigger for him to appear?

Hello. CS passed when it was still on version 1.3, it was sewn into a ready-made assembly, I thought that it served as an alternative beginning and smoothly transitioning to NW. This year I saw that CS had already been updated to 2.5 and decided to go all the way again. I installed the build and rolled the updated version on top, added dependencies and ran into a problem. In the prostitution quest, Chief Dwayne does not let out of the cell into the city. He stands in front of a prostitute and that's it. As far as I remember, the bimbo collar should work. So the question is, did you do something with him? And how to move forward

in either case what should happen is the Bomb Brothers (who are essential) should kill the minutemen eventually.  the extra raiders dying is not a big deal

something you can try is to roll back to a save before that battle starts, and after the battle starts use the console to kill the minutemen (might want to leave one alive

for the Bomb Brothers to kill).  after the raiders (Bomb Brothers) win the battle the quest should progress.

 

of course you can always try looking at the stages guide to see where you are and what stage needs to run to progress, but personally i would try the roll back

and kill the minutemen route first.

 

Valcon, thanks for the advice.  I had a mod "Liberty Reborn A Minutemen Overhaul Mod" that I thought was causing it.   After getting rid of it, cleaning up the save and going back to a save prior to that mission starting, I thought I was golden.  Got to the same spot and the same thing happened.  The Liberators are now gone but the minutemen that spawn, can't be killed.  I can't figure out what is causing  them to spawn like that.  The level list that spawns them and the minutemen themselves are not touched by my mods.  The only way to progress was to kill them through the console.  All 5 minutemen that spawned were level 58,  Big Bomb and Little Bomb are level 100 and they couldn't even kill one once I got rid of 4.  Once I killed the last one, the quest progressed.  Very strange.    For what it is worth, the minutemen are spawning with 600 to 700 health.  The bomb bros only have 40. Attached is my load order if any pops out.

What difficulty are you playing at and did you select the FOMOD options in CS to make raiders "Hard core"

 

Playing on normal difficulty with the .esl to make raiders "hard core" mine won that fight pretty quickly

So I am posting this for 2 reasons. one, I am horrifyingly stupid. 2 I am above average intelligence, so surely others made this same horrifyingly stupid error. 

 

I downloaded the zip, placed it in Vortex, launched the game and... no murphy. I reinstalled, no murphy. I made a new save. No murphy. I got rid of my new start mod. No Murphy.

 

Then I finally checked the zip. Oh... it has the mod zip INSIDE IT. You have to extract it once to get to the actual mod. I obviously should have known that since it didn't have the version number and the install asked 0 questions. But here we are. Hours later. I finally solved an issue I was 100% responsible for.

Yes, Mega gives you two download options. You can download each of the mods on the page, or you can download a ZIP bundle of all of them (which probably wastes bandwidth downloading some you don't need too). Obviously dropping a ZIP of a bunch of mods into your mod manager isn't going to do what you want. It's too bad Mega doesn't make it possible for the publisher to disable the "download everything at once" option, because something like half of the people who initially can't make the mod work picked the wrong download option.

Yeah, it downloaded automatically for me. And head empty as I am, I didn't check anything.

I'm playing on normal difficulty.  I do have hard core raiders.  For some reason, the  minutemen have way too much health when they spawn.
