And is the very latest version the first time you have used this mod?  It may be a new glitch that didn't appear in prior versions.  You'd need to get @Bane Master to give you advice on that

 

Another thought.  Does ReSaver show Defeat files active in your game on a save made after installation

 

Just persevere  It will be worth the effort.

Thank you so much for your help! Thanks to your suggestions, I was able to find and resolve the problem.

 

As you guessed, there was a missing master file, but MO2 was silently not loading the mod altogether instead of loading it and then crashing. ReSaver helped me figure that out.

 

I assumed the requirements listed under the first post were complete. They were not. The first post reads:

This list is incomplete. The mod also needs SexLabAroused.esm. I downloaded and installed OSL Aroused which contains SexLabAroused.esm, after which I was able to load the mod and reach the MCM menu. I haven't tested it any further yet, but it looks promising.

What defeat condition are you using on the "Player as victim" page?  I find that Essential - On Bleedout is the most reliable.  If you set a damage threshold and take big damage that drops you from okay to dead in one hit, you'll die.

As the long forgotten author of the first decently functional sex mod for Skyrim (which inspired the Sex Framework that then inspired the creation of the Sexlab Framework) my mod ALSO included a "Defeat" function.  I avoided "killing blows" when I wanted to defeat enemies or the player and when present followers got defeated by using the OnHit event to check the number of hit points the hit was going to give the PC or NPC and would give enough hit points to the PC or NPC so the they would enter bleedout instead of dying.

I've never seen that used to prevent dying in any other mod BUT it worked very well and would handle additional blows from additional fighting to keep the NPC in bleedout but not dying until the fight was over and the victorious got to claim their prizes.

That combination allowed me a playthrough where my player ended up being screwed by every bad guy (no, creatures though as that was before we got any creature animations) to where my player got to screw every bad guy (or gal) he or she wanted to.  Well that mechanism plus a calming spell that made the defeated or victorious enemies friendly for 24 hours (or a location change) while undefeated or non-victorious enemies would remain hostile. 

I'm posting this here because it seems like a similar mechanism added to Defeat would fix many of the problems I see people are still having and because it would allow a completion of the game without killing anyone that a quest didn't demand you kill.  And my old mod allowed you to not have sex with any defeated enemy or kill them anyway if you wanted which also happens to already be in Defeat.

Isn't the NPC defeat by adding up cumulative Hit Points, as incorporated in AndrewLRG's addon - these being variable by attack type and strength, with the player being able to set the parameters in the Defeat MCM - not pretty much the equivalent to that?  I appreciate that it won't be identical, but does it not have just about the same effect?

Yes, I agree that there seems to be quite a bit of similarity between the @AndrewLRG Dynamic Defeat feature and the mod behavior that @WaxenFigure described.

 

One difference that I can think of is that player death is still possible when using Dynamic Defeat. If the player is a low level, then a giant hit can be a one-hit kill. Also, if the player is surrounded by many enemies all doing significant damage, then the player health can decrease faster than the Dynamic Defeat bar fills up.

 

I typically boost my player character's health by 1000 in order to avoid player death at low levels while using Dynamic Defeat:

 

player.modav health 1000

I understand that some people still use DAYMOYL in conjunction with Bane's version to try to get round the 'drop dead instantly' issue, but your methodology sounds like a really great idea!  I'll try that as soon as I get a chance

I was trying out that mod in my current playthrough and TBH I've found it a little bit incomprehensible as to how both the MCM and mechanics work and interrelate, never mind worrying about whether or not Dibella is sitting around doing No2's.  😏  Can you please enlighten us a little bit on what this script does?   🙂  TIA

The settings  Defeat should be similar like this to make it work properly.

(player chance pretty hight for wound and exhausted)

The settings of Defeat must kick in before this script ! Otherwise it takes control.

It's intended to avoid dead on multiple hits or a giant slam.

 

PS:

If it happens the struggle bar does not appear and you cannot move, try to struggle, or wait (3min the longest), open inventory and dring a healing.

Playing AE 1.6.1170.0.8 with 5.3.6 20032024, CTD when starting the game, cannot even see the main menu.

It was normal when using ordinary Defeat SSE 5.3.5.

 

Is there a log or something to find the problem?

Most likely your are missing or have an outdated dependency

 

Crash Logger SSE AE should help you diagnose the issue

There's a Sexlab optimization patch called Sexlab P+. It really does clean up a lot of bad legacy Sexlab behavior, but it also completely breaks the necrophilia function of every SL Defeat fork, including this one.

 

Just putting this issue on the radar of future patches, since this seems to be the most recently updated defeat, and I'd really like to run both.

Wouldn't it make sense to fix the problem at the source, in SL P+, rather than trying to get various other mods to adjust something that has been working all along?

Scrab decided against full backwards compatibility, and decided that improvements justified making incompatible behavior differences.

 

On the one hand, that is a fine decision for a mod author to make, and I completely respect that decision.

 

But on the other hand, I don’t think that I will ever be able to switch to SL p+, and I am concerned that our mod community could be fractured.

Yes.  The norm with modding is backwards compatibility so as not to break other people's mods, while offering improvements that mods can make use of if they wish.  "First, do no harm."  Devious Devices 5 is a good example, with its change to a more efficient mechanism for equipping & unequipping while keeping backwards compatibility.  Existing mods still worked the same without disruption, but most chose to switch to the newer functions at a time that was good for them.  We sometimes see a mod take a "my way or the highway" approach, but as you mentioned, that is divisive.  Mod authors are certainly free do as they please with their mods, but this seems harsh.  Well, it's up to Bane Master to decide what to do here with Defeat.

Let me start this by saying that vast majority of incompatibilities with SLP+ come from one of 3 sources:

• People being on an outdated version of the mod
• Known issues
• Not installing the mod correctly

P+ works correctly with majority of mods without any patches up to the scope of content thats currently being covered. The most recent in dev versions also work with previously incompatible mods like SLAC and YK without a patch being required

The only mods that are strictly incompatible are the ones that are directly overwriting SL scripts - the kinda mods that are impossible to be compatible with by the very nature of being a SL fork and majority of those have a build-in alternative planned, being worked on or already available. Beyond that, the only exception of an intended incompatibility is SLAL and while some may call this "fracturing the community" the feedback Ive received has been overwhelmingly positive and automated conversions have made significant advancements to the point where there are no downsides to using SLSB over SLAL anymore

 

Id prefer if that myth that SLP+ is willfully incompatible with a lot of mods could stop being spread around everywhere

 

As for necrophilia animations specifically, the way all necrophilia mods work in SL is by resurrecting the actor prior to starting the animation because SL doesnt allow animating dead actors, while P+ does (iff the corresponding .ini setting is enabled) and with this change, necrophilia animations through modern APIs are only returned if the actors the animations are gathered for are actually dead by the time these animations are requested

However, the legacy API integrations lacks those features and there is nothing stopping you from gathering a necro animation for those (alive) actors. The reason why these animations do not play has nothing to do with backwards compatibility. Its a bug in the algorithm that orders actors to the requested scene and affects both P+ and Legacy mods alike. No patch would do anything about that and once the bug is fixed, these legacy necrophilia mods should work the same way they did before

Hey I am using the newest bane Version and have the following issue.
There are sometimes enemies that wont stop hitting my Character until death even though i have the essential mode activated or not triggering defeat at all. I first had it happen with a Highway man from a mod and today inside the Ravenscar Hollow with the Bandit that I freed from the Cage.

Most of the time it works fine but somehow i had this problem occuring to me. Maybe you find something that is incompatible in my Loadorder

My character always dies despite essential mode being on. I tried some things that didn't help, then finally resorted to pulling up the console (type "~") and writing "TIM" first thing every time I load a save. "TIM" stands for "toggle immortal mode." My character's health now goes down to zero, but she doesn't die.

 

I suspect the cause of our problems is a mod conflict or a load order problem, but I could be mistaken.

Well this sounds like a workaround. But I will try this if it fixes it I will not complain
