In terms of SOS, I am using the SOS 1.1.4 found here on LL, and replacing the dll inside with chuckseven1's new AE-compatible dll.

Is there anywhere else I should be replacing this dll? Just to reiterate, I am using MO2. Despite overwriting this dll in the SOS mod with the AE dll, every time I boot up the game, I get that error message that the dll is out of date, etc.

edit: A few sentences for clarity.

If you are trying this on a recent save, it may not work. The SKSE co-saves are not compatible. Try to either start a new game, or go back to a pre-AE save.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am actually loading a normal un-modded save that I have right after the Helgen scenario. Just to try this idea, I did start a brand new save, but still had the same DLL error. (It says that the dll is outdated.) No luck.

Is my methodology correct in terms of replacing the SOS dll with the AE one? I'm not sure what else could be holding me up here.

Well the error in the log to you posted means the dll had an instruction your cpu does not know. The default settings are too much for yours apparently. What is your cpu?

A) Unzip the SOS 1.1.4 mod, replace the dll, rezip, then FOMOD install

B) Install SOS 1.1.4 fomod, then install your AE dll fomod alongside it (using LOOT for load order)

C) Some other method, maybe manual install?

I use MO2, but I've tried a couple different ways, and the game keeps saying the dll is outdated. I even tried putting the dll directly into steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins and still no luck. I'm getting this error:

I just installed this latest version of SoS AE using Vortex giving priority over SOS SE 1.1.4 (in my case, in Vortex, setting the Dependency appropriately for SoS AE to be "After"). This worked for me insomuch as that error goes away and my character's schlong, ahem, worked when I needed it to. The only thing not really quite right now for me is that when my/a character puts armour back on the schlong does not get 'hidden'. This is not a problem for low reaching armour, but for armour which does not reach down too far or simply has a fairly open lower front part (e.g. as glass armour is now) it looks a bit silly.

Hi @ShinsFortress, thanks so much for your reply. This is precisely my issue though. I HAVE the SoS AE dll, but for some reason, no matter where I put it or how I install it, SOS just can't seem to find the DLL. I keep getting the "dll not found" error. Here's a screencap of what my MO2 setup looks like. As you can see, I have SOS AE with a higher priority. It doesn't seem to matter though, because I still get the "dll not found".

I even tried to go into the SOS 1.1.4 mod directly, into the \SKSE\Plugins folder for the mod and manually replace the dll file with the AE one, and I STILL GET THE DLL NOT FOUND ERROR! (Frustrating!!)

I'm wondering if there is somehow some kind of phantom old dll out there that is being "read" or something, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if that's what may be causing my issue.

MO2 is clearly telling you that SoS AE is being overridden. Mods with a gray lighting bolt are doing nothing. My DLL needs to be after the original SoS. You are still getting the original pre-AE DLL, just like the message says.

Indeed. By that stage that wasn't my problem anymore. I think my post was diverted! After using Vortex properly install seems to work and error pop-up goes away. My character(s) still have a dangly even when wearing armour though...

Hey friend, thank you for your response. So I believe the reason the lightning bolt was gray is that I also pasted your DLL into the overwrite folder, just hoping that MO2 would use it. Nonetheless, I removed it from the overwrite folder again.

Here is what I have now:

The gray lightning bolt is gone!

When I double click into SoS AE, I can clearly see that the SOS AE DLL is successfully overwriting the DLL in the SOS 1.1.4:

I have no idea how this could be happening. It defies all logic. Even if I manually delete the old dll so that the SOS AE is the ONLY DLL that MO2 could possibly find, it still says that it cannot find it, or that it is too old.

This is an updated DLL for Schlongs of Skyrim that works with AE. I have created it as a part of a larger mod I am working on, but It can still be used with plain SoS so I am releasing it ahead of my mod.

The cosave format is not compatible with the old SOS DLL because I did not have all the code. You need to start a new save. This does not work with pre-AE, just use the DLL that comes with SOS SE.

The permissions and acknowledgements below are inherited from the original SoS file since this is a derivative mod.

PERMISSION USAGE

1. SOS and any derivative mod, should be kept in Lover's Lab only. If your mod uses any SOS asset, it should be kept in here. Such assets encompass Meshes, Textures and specific Havok files that VectorPlexus or Smurf have developed. Skeletons/Bones are an exception
2. Even in the case of posting a mod in Lover's Lab under the previous condition, those assets should always be properly credited to VectorPlexus and Smurf

I don't know what that screen has to do with this. That is sexlab not SoS. I do not use sexlab. Look at your SKSE log. Until you are actually loading my DLL I can't help you.

After days of puzzling over this, this suggestion finally solved my issue. Thank you so much!!!

For anyone reading this in the future who may be having the same issue with the dll not found (even though you know you updated it), it seems like when booting up your game, SKSE goes down the list of reading the different dll files. I learned that if at ANY POINT it comes across a dll that errors out, it simply stops reading them altogether. In other words, I found out that if a different dll is outdated, SKSE will NOT continue reading the others, therefore prompting me about the erroneous SOS dll, because it simply gave up reading the dlls after finding a bad one.

In my case, I found out that I had (no idea why) some HDT Physics Extensions mod that is supposed to be for Skyrim LE (again, no idea how that got in my mod list). In reading my SKSE log located here Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE, it turned out that that HDT Physics Extensions dll was crapping out. After getting rid of that mod altogether, SKSE was able to successfully read the rest of the dll files INCLUDING THE SOS AE dll from @chuckseven1. Therefore, after booting up the game, my ERROR MESSAGE WAS GONE!
