FOMM is doing just what I figured it was -- reading the entire file into memory and then writing it back out. That alone is probably responsible for a chunk of the performance problems. I'll never understand some of the insane decisions like this that the authors made.

It has the large-fomod-file fix. Code isn't refactored yet so no source update just now. Please test thoroughly! Thanks! Build ver for this one is 0.14.10 so you know you're on the right one. If you don't have TTW, the problem should occur with any fomod that's >= 4GB or so. I created a test one with lings, nmc's large texture pack, etc -- no compression on the .7z -- that is about 10G in size. Seems to be working ok for me but I've only done basic install/deinstall and there are more code paths that are untested. Edit: standby, replacing file. ChianasGeek Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Well, I was able to confirm for the partially successful activation with the 0.14.9 build that it did go as far as the .bsa and .esm files for Anchorage and Broken Steel, in the right place. So, I don't think it was putting stuff elsewhere - though I can test that further if you need. Also, in no case was it giving a progress bar for the installation of the fomod, even with the successful activation with 0.14.8 LAA enabled. I didn't notice that before when I was briefly actually using TTW (think it was with FOMM 0.13.21, with the executable set LAA aware (which is exactly what they provide a link to download at TTW forums)). I can test that too if needed.

How's this look? I think it's more sane than that moving around and resizing window that pops up currently.

If you still have the .fomod it generated, can you open it up in 7zip and send me the fomod directory that's inside, if it's not too large? It should just be some c# scripts and xml files, a few KB.

I thought I'd skip 9 due to the earlier beta, but not enough people have been downloading it for it to be a problem. This version: - Still a 32bit debug build. - Slightly more sane (new) archive code, there may have still been a path bug. - Yes/No to mod functionality ala NMM. - Redesigned overwrite dialog window and made position/size more sane. There is still a lot of crazy in the FOMM code. Getting some of it out (like all the mid-function returns and unnecessary threading) will take some time, but is needed to make working on the code easier. Niv, let me know what you want to do re: collaborating. I'm going to stick with the LL Gitlab instance as my primary repo. I can dupe the repo to github and push to multiple remotes. I think if you forked and were sending pull requests on github, I could accept them and sync them down into a new branch and push that to the LL repo and merge it in. I'm not 100% sure as I've never worked on a project with multiple active remotes before. If you have other ideas, I'm all ears, but I don't really want to move to github as the primary repo. Ashal put a fair bit of work into setting up gitlab here and using it is really the only way I know of to thank him for it. Also, before long I'll be renaming. I think I've settled on GMM (G for gamebryo); picking a name is always difficult. Edit: removed file.

The fomod script is so dead simple it can't possibly be the cause of the problems you experienced.. TTW is so complex that I can't easily "fake it out", but I also don't see anything that would make it not work when everything else I've tried does. However, a lightbulb did just go on. Stand by for another beta. It just dawned on me that the scripting crap I fixed may not actually be (only) in the exe; FOMM does have a couple of dll's as well, so let me make a new zip with "everything" in it.

I'm going to spin up another one in a second that lets you resize that window. Why these people always think disabling window (or column or.. whatever) resizing is such a great idea is beyond me. I see it in software all the time and it's beyond obnoxious.

I wasn't sure if he or someone else might want to continue on with that name, it is in some of the source out there somewhere already. GMM has no conflicts with naming yet that I'm aware of and also works for either acronym. Checking PM now.
