Spam in Sims section still

Sadly a few are still being allowed to post what I now consider spam in the Sims section of the downloads. I have reported them a number of times but still they are allowed to post.... nothing new. Usually it involves a paywall of some kind. Is it just me or can others see this? For example axem****** just posts the same old sims despite the so called new rules.

Being that I create TS3, I just sit and watch... and shake my head. They basically use LL as a commercial to advertise their Patreon, and like a TV commercial, repeat the same poop over and over. Yes, some make a one word change or "Brenda the pornstar now has blue panties swatch" and call that an "update", and many make no change at all.

I do remember when I first started, as it was not that long ago, and that there are not so many making TS3 and no one does the "updates", my work remained on page 1 or 2 for a while, and people saw it, and downloaded it. That encouraged me to continue. New TS4 creators see their hard work bumped an hour after posting and lost to the Ether. After the updaters are done, a new post from 09:00 is on page 12 by 11:00, and many never scroll that far.

Maybe @Ashal can create a completely separate section that is only for TS4 Patreon ads... I mean updates? And a special new badge for the most updates in one week, month, year? Or maybe a separate section just for new releases and perhaps 1 update within a day or so to correct some silly thing???

what if meme - can you repeat that again please?

Yeah I'm just so sick of seeing that... I used to browse for sims but now I stopped because the same thing pops up every now and then. It's such an eyesore. It's sad that some of them still can't take a hint.

Unless the admins clamp down we will soon be back to where we were, and the good community CAS sims creators will give up :(

As I am completely against the unnecessary "update" bumping, I have an honest question for any moderator, or anyone else...

I need to add a part number to one of my older uploads, to make it easier for anyone who wants to add it in Kinky World, but see no reason for it to be "bumped" to the top.

Is there an option that I can simply add that part number and some text to explain it without bumping it up???

Myuhinny is right. There is no option for "silent updates".

But do not worry.

Only updating quite constantly is considered spamming.

Although the TS3 section doesn't have the same Patreon ad bumping problem as TS4, I simply see an automatic "bump" for such things as opening that particular door.

The few of us uploading there may "update" almost immediately after posting to correct typos or some stupid thing (as I did today), but I think we are a different crowd and really don't like the update bump.

I just added the KW part number to the current upload which links the older as an accessory option.

Thanks for replying. )

Sims section Is kinda freaky. Recently i saw a guy uploaded collection of panties. And it looked like he split every swatch into a standalone CC.... and then uploaded those xD

@CPU But axem..... constantly updates/bumps their posts every few days without any changes to the downloads ?? As soon as a post leaves the front page an old post is "Updated" simply to promote a paywall. I've reported this many times but nothing is done so have given up.

I'm probably going to get chewed out but I feel I just have to put my two cents worth into this.

First, never forget that this site is Ashal's. It's not mine and it's not yours. As a Moderator (and the newest one at that) my goal is to enforce the rules as Ashal has determined that they should be enforced. From my more experienced, fellow Moderators I've learned that the rules change over time and the interpretation may as well. So what follows is what I understand.

Spamming, for purposes of this site, at this time, consists of either posting complete nonsense OR something that advertises something other than the work of a mod author who has placed mods on LL. So, if you start a Thread and post "XYZABCLMN" you can expect that to be taken down by a Moderator as soon as it's reported. If you place a commercial for Viagra on a Thread you can also expect that to be taken down, and quickly. (And yes, things like this do happen and most people are unaware because we DO take them down).

On the other hand, this site (as Rule One indicates) exists for mod authors. That is, those people who put things on LL that can be downloaded for free. In most of the Forums (Skyrim, Oblivion, etc.) this has generally not been an issue. As you, and others, have pointed out, making the distinctions on the Sims remains more problematic. There, many people have placed small mods in order to advertise their larger, Patreon (or other paywall) collection. I sympathize with your frustration, I really do. These same people do often make changes to put their mods "on the front page." You will have to take my word for it but every time they do it they are scrutinized to see if they really did change things. And yes I know that often these things are not generally apparent and are probably not significant to Sims users. Some authors have been asked privately by Moderators to make changes in how they handle this, and they have. However, there is only so much that we can do. And, when things are constantly being reported (and since the Moderators are only human and have only so much time) that tends to impact what we wind up doing. That's also just human.

So, if you feel it is necessary to continue your crusade, feel free to do so. I won't stop you. However, as you indicated in your comments, sometimes silence and patience work better than more flamboyant methods, even if those methods feel better.

If I could easily edit the forum software to no longer bump files from post edits without file updates, I would.

I still think changing the sims categories to sort by "recently added" instead of "recently updated" would be the best solution. It would immediately destroy any reason for greedy people to keep bumping their files. Yes, you might lose out on seeing mods that have legitimately updated if all you do is look at the list of recently updated mods. But, if you cared about that mod being updated, than you should be following the file and getting a notification or seeing that the files discussions thread has new posts. Besides, you could still change the sort order on your own.

Across all the "excessive bumping" reports we've gotten, it's mostly just felt not excessive enough to be problematic or bumping as the result of somebody making legit updates to their post that go unnoticed by the reporter. We've even had a fair number of excessive bumping reports made about files that made simple typo/formatting fixes.

@Psalam and @Ashal, as I said before, this really is not a problem among those of us still creating TS3... BUT, it was not THAT long ago when I made my first upload here (first anywhere). I do not seek "glory" or "praise", but I was encouraged to continue to upload more because that first piece was downloaded by a good number of people who saw it... on first page, and it remained there for a while.

Be honest with yourselves, as I know you see it... far too many people (especially newbies and window shoppers) rarely take their "precious" time to go beyond the first or second pages of downloads. When every professional CC creator advertising a paywall account somewhere, is constantly bumping their CC, it knocks that new creator's piece to page 10 pretty quickly, where no one bothers to look or download very often. Had my first piece been downloaded only 4 or 5 times, I would have figured that it is not my bag, and probably never bothered to upload again. Oy... I would have continued to make things for myself, but not bothered to share them if only 4 or 5 other people thought them worth downloading.

My point is that when a new creator posts something (maybe his or her first ever), and it is bumped by the pros into the Ether, they may get discouraged and not bother, and they may be pretty good creators who were looking for a break, or some level of assurance that others like what they made as encouragement to keep going.

Perhaps in the TS4 section, you can have a section for new creators? Or, I think mentioned before, a walled off "updates" only section? Again, TS4 does not affect me at all, but I am thinking of others (rare as that may happen).

I don't know what Ashal can do for you for your sections and will not address that. Let me give you an alternative suggestion.

Start a Thread (or a Blog), maybe "Good New TS3 mods." Edit the collection yourself. Get out onto the Threads and advertise. I wrote the "Navigating LL for Newcomers" blog which has been off the "front page" for at least months, if not years. It still gets regular hits because when I see someone struggling with finding things in LL I tell them "this is why I wrote this!" Then others, while reading that post, think "maybe I need to look at that too!" Keep the top post updated and make sure you feel it reflects the best stuff out there. Let me know if someone starts harassing you or giving objectionable "opinions" and I'll hide those posts. It is up to us, the users of the site, to watch out for one another. We do not have to sit back and let "those people" dominate the discussion. But, it is up to us, not always Ashal, to make these things work.

I vote for that, that would allow me to update the tags on my mods without bumping them.

I have no problem with small mods advertising their larger collection if the post contains something new every "Update" but the example I've given blatantly abuses the system. In fact as soon as one post "left the front page" today another old post rolled back on. They have even now added the old paywall pictures so they can "Update" those. If they are "scrutinized" how can they not update a single file in ten posts with dates going back more than a year and still be allowed to continue? For those that changed their ways and the great creators who are here for the right reasons I feel it's a kick in the teeth to them.

I did not complain about TS3 section. We are civil and do not have Patreon update bumps. I was speaking as one who remembers what it is like to make a first upload, and how a person might feel discouraged when their hard work is on page 10 after 1 day because the "pros" continually bump their Patreon ads.

Really, the only blog I ever thought about was to place all FemmeBots in one place, but really not necessary since attaching a signature that sends to all of my CC... HERE... NOT on Patreon. )))

I agree very much, as I would like to simply add the part number to a set of accessory panties to make it easier for people to add them to Kinky World. I forgot to include the number. Not something worth a bump at all, as I will add nothing knew to the actual CC.

@JoshQ is example of another TS3 creator who hesitates to make small changes to older pieces because the automatic bumping.

For "fun" I looked at TS4 earlier today. Yes, 1 or 2 new posts, and the rest are "updates", and if moderators monitor that section (NOT TS3), you see the meaningless updates of changing a sentence in the text, or a picture.
