Maelstrom - Norse Dungeon Quest Mod SE

A strange island has risen from the depths of the sea, an expedition to uncover its mystery is already on its way. You are just a little too late to the party, and following the expedition's footsteps you uncover a tale of treachery, madness and forgotten secrets before you self are drawn into the Maelstrom...

 

Maelstrom is a dungeon quest mod inspired by Norse mythology and spans a large dungeon complex and other locations filled with puzzles, enemies, secret areas and more!

 

How to start the quest:

 

Talk to the innkeeper of the Winking Skeever in Solitude, and ask if he knows about some work for you. Alternatively you can find a new location along the coastline which also leads to starting the quest.

 

What awaits you:

 

• A multipart dungeon questline with three possible outcomes
• Lots of old-school RPG style puzzles
• New enemy variants, equipment, lore and flavour texts and a lot more
• A fully voice acted NPC and potential follower (voiced by Simone Mountain)
• A secondary vanilla voice follower with some custom dialogue
• New dialogue created by editing vanilla voice assets

Latest version of Skyrim Special Edition

Playthrough by Zero Period Productions (contains spoilers, but useful for hints):

 

 

Changelog for v1.03:

 

• Added a third way to complete the quest
• Rán can now ride her own horse as a follower (you can disable it via dialogue option)
• Fix for a rare CTD when fighting drowned enemies
• Minor clarifications, fixes and enemy tweaks
• Hopefully a fix for a CTD when fighting Drowned Dead in Skyrim VR (can't test it, so you have to try for yourself

 

Installation:

 

Use your favourite mod manager that can handle a FOMOD installer, simple as that. Manual installation is also possible by dropping the .esp and .bsa files from the archive into Skyrim's Data folder.

 

Uninstallation:

Uninstalling a mod midgame is never really a good idea, but if you have no other choice:

 

• Dismiss any followers you might get from this mod and go to a location which is definitely not part of this mod (e.g. Riverwood)
• Wait for 24 ingame hours
• Save game and uninstall the mod with your mod manager or delete the files you've installed manually from the Data folder.
   

Compatibility:

 

Both followers have their own follower system and they will follow you regardless of any other followers you might have. They won't conflict with any mods regarding followers, but they also will be ignored by them and their respective special features. It's not recommended to use any force recruit / manage features from other mods on them as this certainly will mess up things.

 

The vanilla voice follower will switch to Skyrim's vanilla follower AFTER the questline is completed, then she can be managed by any mod you like.

 

Install Options:

 

A few of the NPCs are nude by default. If you don't like this, the FOMOD installer gives you the option to give the respective NPCs a basic set of underwear.

 

Conflict Potential:

 

This mod makes no changes to any vanilla records except adding two new locations to the worldmap by editing the cells 00000D74, 00003DBE and 0000B478. Only new objects are placed, existing objects are left untouched.

Thanks, glad you like it! ? My plan is to bring back at least some of my other mods as well eventually. But it might take some time, I don't have as much free time for modding stuff as in the past.

What changed between nexus 1.02 and LL 1.03 version?

Anyone else suffering crashing on game load?  I can load any game prior to the first quest.  Any game after (in this case Getting the Flyer from Corpulous) crashes.  I made it all the way to after

The Heart and Half lady popping out.  Jocylyn is indistiguishable from vanilla companions as she did everything possible to get me killed.  She succeeded which is how I found out all my saves past a certain point are borked.

 

If it's just me I will chalk it up to my unique situation.  From what I played it was definitely better than 9/10ths of Vanilla and DLC.

Since I'm currently still on a SE mod-bugfix-run (woe be me & and my personal edits, meshes and whatnots), and my nachtdaemmerung77 followers is a personal, edited merge (old LE habits die hard), what's the change between version 1.02 and 1.03 [since 1.03 is not a Nexus-release if my assumption is correct]?

runs flawless, no save bloat, clean saves, no ctd.

 

Just one thing to mention.

SL RDS need to be deactivated (not uninstall), because RDS responds to the voice (free to chat) and supresses the voice.

 

little story, gathered 2nd skull, gate closes.  Ah, there is a pull chain.

Pull and......kidnapped. 4 trolls. Just happy I had the porter enabled to come back quite quick.

So no problem for me with all my SL stuff and 2 followers, work just fine with this mod.

 

And I have got a quite heavy setup with lots of scripts. Really good job , this mod.

No I am facing the big jump

Yeah it looks like I had other issues.  Reverted to a save prior to having the mod enabled, I was able to reach Corpleus and get the flyer all the way to the Frigid cave with loadable saves all in between. 

 

I don't even want to hypothesize what the cause was.  It could have been anything from smacking the crap out of Maul and Brynholf  in Riften to slaughtering the Thalmor in the Embassy Courtyard when I chanced to pass by (and they instigated a conflict). 

 

None of those things happened in this new try.    I don't think it was the Thalmor as the sequence of saves in that previous playthrough had already had the CTD Issue from the point I got the Flyer from Corpulous.

It's brand new. When it was removed from Nexus, I took the chance to improve some bits. A change log can be found in the mod description.

damn lost all my data on 3 different hardrives 3 weeks ago because of a tornado and power surges out the wazoo, and i go to nexus to download my favorite follower mods and all your work is deleted, i hope you will post all your follower mods that were on the nexus here as they were must haves for me especially solar and the orc cant remember how to spell her name.
