I may be missing something, but is there a way to take a dangerous technology (say pleasure suits) and "ban" it from being studied by the auto research function?

In game, not that I've found, and it was annoying me, also.

I believe I just deleted the tech from kv_technology.txt (been a while since I looked at it, and haven't updated things to 3.2 yet). At first I set weight to 0, but as I recall there was an event that caused it to pop up as researchable anyway. Removing it as a tech was the only thing I could do to make sure I never saw it.

Technically, there should be a way to prevent the suits from showing up in the tech tree, as it's already something that's done elsewhere.

If you ban robotic workers in the policies (not a popular meta, I know, but I do this all the time because the AI revolt chain is revoltingly badly coded) at the start of the game, the techs for making robot pops never show up. No robots, no droids, no androids. It should be possible to allow a ban on pleasure suits to prevent the tech from appearing. However, I suspect how it is currently set up right now prevents the policy from being changed before the tech is researched.

I would be fine researching that tech specifically but the policy to ban them doesn't work and my leaders still become addicts with a disproportionate rate.

To asnwer your question, no. At least as far as i know there is no such option in the game.

This sounds like a bug. If they're banned it doesn't make sense why they would still become addicts. I'll see if I can remedy this issue.

Uploaded a new version that I think should fix that issue.

Here's my version of the mod again since the old post seems to be behaving oddly after the forum went down.

Kinky Void 1.2.5.zip

Kinky Void 1.2.6.zip

NEW: Kinky Void 1.2.6

  • After researching the technology the event for banning pleasure suits should no longer trigger by mistake.

Kinky Void 1.2.5

  • Small but mighty change: The default policy option for please suits is now banned. This fixes an annoying issue where you get a withdraw event even if you ban the pleasure suits right after unlocking the technology. It should be safe to unlock the technology now and not have to worry about any consequences unless you deliberately enable the policy.

OLD Changelog

Spoiler

Kinky Void 1.2.4

  • Leaders should no longer be able to become addicted to pleasure suits while they are banned.
  • Leaders will recover from addiction quicker when pleasure suits are banned.
  • Changed the Megacorp Sexologists civic bonuses to match the regular version
  • Fixed the missing localization for Sexualized culture civic (English only).

Kinky Void 1.2.3

  • Small change to make sure the sexologist and gem incubator policy is properly unlocked in all instances. If using LV Extra you'll need to update that mod or ensure this one is loaded second.

Kinky Void 1.2.2

  • Removed all references to Streetwalkers and Call Girls (replaced with Whores and Escorts per LV instructions)
  • Added support for new LV jobs where needed
  • Replaced milk cow modifier with dairy jobs
  • Changed the three tier research for sexologists to give their bonus to the LV job rather than the removed KV one
    • Also fixed where these technologies would not appear in all cases
  • A bunch of localization changes

Kinky Void 1.2.1

  • Fixed missing sexologist policy

Kinky Void 1.2.0

  • Removed all the Lustful Void overrides that were causing problems
  • Removed out of date base Stellaris overrides
  • Removed Sexologist Job
    • Changed Sex Labs to give LV Sexologist jobs instead
  • Reworked jobs for Stellaris 3.2

NOTE: This is a complete mod not a patch. Delete any previous versions of Kinky Void before installing or updating.

If you're using LV Extras you need to update to 2.2.5+ to avoid a conflict.

Turns out the event still fires when you unlock the technology. I tested it once and it didn’t fire the event so I’m a little confused now. Maybe it was a fluke. I’ll see if I can fix it somehow.

This pic is from this mod, but can anyone tell me which portraits are these? Also, can you use them as machines?

EDIT

EDIT

So, is this a problem with this mod? The missing string matches the format used by "mod_planet_lv_sex_jobs_upkeep_mult" in this.
Also, I'm using SohCahToa's 1.2.6.

It's not the result of this mod.  I'm using it without issue.

I was having the same issue. And only enabling/disabling this mod caused and fixed it. I'd only just gotten in to modding for Stellaris so the only mods I had at the time were LV and this one.

I don't know what to tell you, my game works just fine with this mod and many others.

Did you download the one from the download page or the updated one?

I downloaded "Kinky Void V1.1.2" from the "download this file" option on the main page. That's the only file I downloaded however, so is it possible I need more? Since the only other mod I had was LV I assumed I needed none of the others, but is it likely I require the "KV-Sexopolis tweaks" file as well?

Edit: I tried both of those mods and still got a CtD.

Is this  compatible with the KV-Sexopolis tweaks from 1.2 or is there even any need for that anymore?

I can't say for sure but I don't think so.

There's no need for KV-Sexopolis tweaks anymore.  Sexopolis has been fully incorporated into LV.

V1.1.2 does not work with other mods. Its the only mod that causes crashes. I even purged all mods from my files, and redownloaded all the mods that I use.

The two policies does not have any translation

gem_incubator_processing_policy_default

is one of them ???

It's the same for a lot of the techs, they only have something like that in the description.
