Alternate start - More Devious Starts

I don't know if it bug but mod won't spawn abadon plug if I choose that scenario

log showed me "ERROR: Cannot call GetName() on a None object, aborting function call"

and then I checked your equipAbadonPlug() function in MoreDSmain.psc:

        Armor AbadonPlug = Game.getFormFromFile(0x10D0BA,"UnforgivingDevices.esp") as Armor


I look up AbadonPlug id in UnforgivingDevices, and I found that its ID should be 0x**135DDE
is this why Abadon Plug fail to spawn in that scenario?

Yeah thats right. In last update of unforgiving devices I removed the former plug and make new one. So the old ID is not valid. Its easy fix but i can't make myself to to repair it. Later on i will fix it with also other problems and try to add some new features.

I have added check that the option will be only avaible if mod is initated. You will know it when text "More Devious Starts ready!" will show up in left up corner. If it shows up and it still doesn't work then i must have fucked up something.

latest 1.0.4works for me

aside from that, i have the same problem with bound at home start.

not that i have breezehome mod, my aslal is just bugged, "own a property" start is bugged for me for every city, i stay in the starting cell after sleeping in bed

 

it would be nice if you can clone a house and put it somewhere, and have the bound at home start from that house, and not use aslsl's own property start

To tell the truth I actually was planning to do it this way at first. But I gived up because I would also have to make this house like other player houses (ability to upgrade etc.) so I just used breezehome. Before I gived up on this idea I created house close to whiterun stables on which i was testing the mod (it was just copy of breezehome but i deleted some furniture). After then i deleted it. So I know i can do it but I will also tell you that the house will be very simple and will be more like NPC house from which player just have key (and can acces storages). Of course this will at least solve compatibility issues with other mods that modifies player houses.

 

Alternatively I have more complex idea that will pretty much combine both ideas together. I will use for the quest custom house. After quest ends and player leaves house the previous house will be no longer accessible. So it will work like this.

  1. Player gets teleported to copy of the house and complete quest
  2. Player leave this house tru door which teleport player outside vannila breezehome in whiterun
  3. Opening this door will acces vannila breezehome like it should, making the quest house inaccessible

This will be little more challenging to do but still manageable. Let me know which options you guys think is better.

im honestly fine either way

 

for the simple home thing

i dont think it needs any upgradability. an extra player home with a bed and like 2 storage chest is a nice bonus, we dont need anything complicated on top of that.

 

as for the 2nd solution you were saying, it sounds REALLY complicated to me.

but if  you can make it work, no objection

The second option offers max compatibility. Having said that, if you want to build your own house, I'd keep it simple. @ahboojiga123 is right; storage, a bed, and a cooking station are all that is really necessary as people will probably purchase their favorite house later on anyway. I'd also locate it on the road to Redoran's Retreat or on the east side of the road next to the path leading to Shimmermist Cave if you want it near Whiterun. Most of the areas close to Whiterun are heavily contested by dozens of mods, and those two areas have no mod use that I've seen. The road south of Fort Greymoor is also mostly ignored if you mind the encounter zones.

 

This is still the best devious start mod outside DCL's built-in start, so I love the fact that you're still expanding it. ?

The medium and hard option on the new house bondage quest are missing. Not sure if they are not yet done so could be intentional :P

 

Also when starting the plug quest, all device sets CTD after a few equips, only the rope one works. If I equip the same devices manually then nothing crashes. Perhaps to many equips without delay between? This can cause the engine to spasm, so perhaps adding a 0.5 sec wait in between the equips help?

Medium and hard option isn't done yet. I will try to do medium once the easy works fine.

Regarding the CTD, I will try to add some delays between each device equip.

I can't figure out where the house key is for the breezehome "easy" start. I managed to find restraint key to get off blindfold but i can't find it anywhere even with "tcl" no-clipping mode.

 

Only mod i have that changes Breezehome is one that adds enchanting table next to alchemy table.

 

Also to note, in that start the follower room doesn't exist. It's just unfurnished area.

Actually i just now found the special set key that unlocked all the rest of the restraints. Still no luck with door though.

Actually i just now found the special set key that unlocked all the rest of the restraints. Still no luck with door though.

 

 

Restrain key should only unlock the armbinder, or other devices if player already removed armbinder. Otherwise door should be unlocked. After last update the door can be opened as soon as player removes armbinder. I was also working with version of breezehome without follower room so it should be ok.

Also i have tested it and it seems there are bunch of other bugs or errors. I will do it from zero when i will be making the copy of breezehome interior.

for breezehome you could instead make a house just for the mod for the player to own that way it wouldnt clash with peoplewho have mods that alter default houses

 

 

 

also a suggestion i like the bound at home idea any chance or adding more like that maybe i lost a dare the result could have the player dumped in a city bound

After a few in game hours, the letter is to be replaced with a blank one. Hopefully the player can escape in time or their play-through is going to be very short. ?

I can't seem to get this to work. When I select the devious start option i get spawned naked. I've triple checked that I have all the requirements and that everything is being loaded in the right order. Has anyone else had and also fixed this issue?

im having the same issue i have tried every little thing i can think of but im not really a modder . im also getting random CTD no matter what i try. i have gone though disabling them one by one and still getting it

Does DD's MCM say it is version 5 or higher? You also need to save and load (not quick load) game once while still in the alternate start cell, that will initialize a few mods including DD. After that you can customize MCM options, install SexLab, load all presets you want, register SLAL, EC+ animations if you have that etc... Manual save here again. After all that you are safe to try devious starts.

 

You can also try AddItemMenu while in the cell and give yourself some items to test from DD-Expansion.

i fixed the CTD but even the i tie myself at home does not work

So your issue is with DD, not with this Devious Starts mod (wrong thread). This is also assuming you have Skyrim Legendary Edition, not Special Edition. To make DD not invisible when worn you need to run Bodyslide and Batch build everything once. Before you do that, select your body and preset you like. Use preview window to see it looks the way you want with weight 0-100 slider at top.

no like when i pick that start as soon as i load in to Breezehome the "you free your hands" pops up

Follow this guide, try the start and send the log here. This will be the fastest way to figure out what is wrong.

And does everything else in the DD work ok ? Try using this mod and equip some items yourself to see if they works. If not i will propably need papyrus log or at least your mod list.

well i did a fresh clean state install but im still having CTD when i try to load a new game or saveed game atm
