Alternate start - More Devious Starts

It's my first mod so it's not perfect. Also english is not my first languege so i'm sorry for all literaly-talented folks that are going to read this.

 

Description

This mod focus on bringing more alternate starts using Devious Devices. This mod is heavily inspired by gramps Live Another Life - Live a Deviant Life by Aelie and  Immerslave by arbiter.

My main goal wat to give similar functionality why also using new devices from DD 5.1. To use this mod just choose option "I'm deviant" in dialog with statue in cell you spawn in.

 

 

What it currently can do

  • You can choose various predefined devious devices sets to start in
  • You can choose headger to get more space for variability
  • You can choose color (either base color aka Red,Black,White or random color which can cover bigger spectrum of colors in case of catsuit devices)
  • You can choose starting location : Currently you can only start random place in wilderness, in random city or you can start in cell you spawn in. The last option spawn 3 lockpicks you can use to unlock door to your freedom
  • You can choose hardcore mod ("Do you like challange?" option): This replace some of the devices with harder variants or uses harder devices in general
  • As I mentioned this is my fisrt mod so i have tried bunch of thing. I wanted to try to make some soft dependency in my mod. Result of this is support of mod Treasure Hunter Whore  by Tyrant99. If you have THW instaled you can find new option that allow you to start quest immidiatly (No more running around wilderness trying to find bed).

Looks like this mods work for SE just fine. Only problem I have found is that dialogs with mara statue are too fast (which I have absolutly no idead why), but otherwise it work just fine. If you want to use this mod with SE just download this mod and install it like it is SE mod. If you use MO it may give you warning that this mod uses older form. Just ignore this warning because most of DD mods for SE use older form anyway.

 

Future Plans

  • More starts for other mods like for THW.
  • Possible custom quest as suggested by SirCrazy

Normally I would do the same thing just by using an add item mod to get the devices I want at the start of the game.

What makes your mod different from the others is your custom plug. I have not seen anything like that before and it adds a real sense of urgency to escaping.  Since you plan to add other devices may I suggest a few?

 

1. Shrinking collar that gets tighter over time.  Every time the collar shrinks, stamina regenerates slower (harder to breath). If the collar get too tight, player can't breath and dies.

2. Shrinking corset that gets tighter over time. Every time the corset shrinks, some health is lost. If the corset get too tight, player is crushed and dies.

3. Rubber suit that brain damages the player. Every time the suit grows stronger mana regenerates slower. If the suit get too strong the player is permanently paralyzed, as she is now a mindless sex doll.

I don't dislike challenges but player death is a big no-no in my opinion. Your options are:

 

1) Start a new game... Having to re-explore all the fast travel locations, do all the first dialog lines and quest starts... don't want to do often.

 

2) Load game back and try to redo it differently before it kills you. Maybe you don't have a game that far back and it will always lead to death? In case of DD, maybe you get a high-security armbinder and you're in some dungeon. Just might not have enough time to reach town before the plug reaches max. Maybe your struggling options are just harder than normal or keys just won't drop. Maybe there are no containers anywhere near your odd location.

 

So i would say it is a more playable style where there is always a way out of things, nevermind how long it might take. Of course the above can be solved with MCM debug options that forcefully remove restraints but is that the intention to make player often have to rely on it? I haven't actually used the MCM freeing almost at all, don't remember when.

Thanks and i like your suggestions. I have been thinking about seperating the plug to seperate mod because of CK crashing so maybe I will make seperate mod for all all custom devices and just link them to this mod as soft dependency.

I have been also thinking about making devices thet can be only unlocked using Devious Devices Escape Overhaul. My overal vision is to make devices feel either more fun/ challenging but also more realistic.

What i loved about DD years ago was that you could't even open menu while having your hands tide. That single detail makes player feel more hopless and motivated to actualy escape.  So my battle plan is to make some kind of hybrid between this old functionaliy and Devious Devices Escape Overhaul. Aka you can't open menu and only way to escape is by using minigames. But for now i will take brake from moding for some time because just thought of using CK for another 10 minutes makes me wanna scream.

I was already planning of making MCM to change plug settings but never got time to do it. I never maked MCM so it will be little challenging but shouldn't take thet long because everything is already based aroud like 5 variables so MCM will only change them.

I simply don't love you anymore as I found another who satisfies me in ways you never could. Last night I drugged your food and tied you up in your favorite toys. All your gold, keys, clothes and weapons are gone. By the time you escape your predicament, I will be gone and you will never be able to find me.  Keep the house, I will not be returning to Skyrim. At least you can't say I never gave you anything!

Do you have any plans on making an SE version? I dont know a whole lot about conversion but you may be able to just run it through CAO. And in some decently rare cases, it doesnt need to be converted at all. those are mods that only contain scripts or textures though. I dont know what your mod contains.

Nice ideas. I will propably do it after i separete the mods. Will you be ok if i copy the letter text you used ? I'm not good at writting so it will be big help. I will obviously give you credit.

I will try it but fisrt i will seperate plug to different mod

I don't even know if it works on NPC but if I understand my code right it should work but all the plugs will have same strength and no 2 plugs could be active at the same time. After i seperate it i will try to make it usable on NPCs

Hello there.

 

If your interested, I have a few ideas for some possible starting options. Most of which are just kinkier version of those that come with Live Another Life, but have a little bit of story/gameplay leading up to the player's character getting bound, instead of just outright starting with the player's character standing around bound.

 

1.

Spoiler

Based on; Vanilla Start.

 

Starting in some wood near Helgen. The player's character is caught by a patrol, & after a short bit of dialogue with one of the patrolman saying how the player's character must be part of Ulfric Stormcloak's group. The patrol then bind the player's character, & starts to escorts them back to some nearby prison transports, headed for Helgan. But; before the patrol can take the player's character back to the cart(s), they come under attack from a small Stormcloak force. This leads to the player's character auto running into the woods, while fading to black. When returning from the fade to black, a message box explains that; in the chaos of the ambush, the player's character managed to escape, but is now lost somewhere in the wilds near Helgen.

 

The restraints used:
Easy - Iron handcuffs, iron fetters, scold bridle.
Hard - Prisoner chains, scolds bridle, iron ring heels, iron chastity & belt with a pear of anguish bell anal plug, & a vaginal plug of your choice. 
 

 

2.

Spoiler

Based on: Patron at a local inn.

 

At a inn the player's character is already partaking in a drinking game. A drunken NPC bets that the player's character couldn't drink another round. After the player's character drinks another via dialogue, this leads to a fade to black. Upon returning from the fade, the player's character finds that are without any of their belongings, & are naked apart from wearing the items their 'friends' have locked on them. 

 

Nearby is a note, that reads something to the effect of:
 "Hey Buddy.

Looks like I was right, you really couldn't handle that last round. While you where out cold, a merchant came in with some interesting things that you would have liked, but; we could afford them, so we sold a few of your things. I think merchant mentioned something about them needing keys or something, I cant remember much. Anyways, we put them on you while you where sleeping to make sure your gifts didn't get lost. Anyways, I hope you enjoy them & see you next time."


Thus leaving the player's character bound inside a inn.

 

The restraints used are: 
Easy - Open dress, armbinder, slave heels & a harness ball gag.
Hard - Catsuit, elbow binder, ballet boots, hood with open eyes only, nipple piercings, & chastity harness with inflatable plugs.
 

 

3.

Spoiler

Based on: Soldier in the army.

 

While serving in a army, player's character is summoned by either; Ulfric Stormcloak or General Tullius respectively. After speaking to the respective leader, they inform the player's character that they have broken some sort of code of conduct, & as such they will have to face a punishment. Given the other soldiers break this too, they are forced to make a example of the player's character. 

 

The player then has a choice:
 1. Accept the punishment.
  The leader tells the player's character to strip, & hands them the restraints to put on their self. Once the item are on, the leader simply tells the player's character that they        are free to leave. 
 2. Reject taking the punishment.
  The leader calls in some guards, & tells them to remove the army's property from the player's character, being; clothing, armour &/or weapons. Once the player's character      has been stripped, the leader orders the guards to put restraints on the player's character. Once bound, the leader expels the player's character from their army. 
    (The player's character can then return with the jagged crown to re-join, or take it too & join the other army. This gives a little bit of roleplaying options.)

 

The restraints are: 
For accepting the punishment; Easy - Leather collar, steel shackles, ring gag, & chastity belt without any plugs. 
For rejecting to take the punishment; Hard - Posture collar, breast yoke, ball gag, nipple clamps & vaginal piercing, chastity bra & belt with torturous plugs.
 

 

4.

Spoiler

Based on: Camping in the woods.

 

While the player's character is sleeping at their camp, they are woken by a few bandits that are raiding the camp. Being no match for the bandits, the player's character surrenders. The bandit leader orders the player's character to strip, afterwards he comments that they should get a nice price from the slave market for the player's character. He then tells the player's character to put on the items in a nearby sack. 

 

After activating the sack, the player's character asks if they really have to put the items on, to which the now annoyed leader demands the player's character stops wasting time. Activating the sack a second time, the player's character is equipped with the restraints. Once done, the leader tells the player's character to start walking to the slave market, leading to the player's character auto walking ahead, & leads to a fade to black. After the fade, it returns with the group taking a quick rest somewhere in the wilds. Not long after a pack of wolves attack the bandits, giving the player's character a opening to run. Upon moving x distance from the location, the player's character is free to roam.

 

The restraints for this are;
Easy - Ball gag, rope armbinder, harness, boots.    
Hard - Full set of pony girl gear, including the bridle with blinders & iron nipple piercings. 
 

 

5.

Spoiler

Based on: An outlaw in the wilds.

 

Starting at a camp with a few dead bandits round, the player's character talks to a bounty hunter. This bounty hunter simply says to the player's character; "Smart of you to surrender. Now, lets get you ready for the trip to the jail". With this the bounty equips the restraints on the player's character, adding that it will help them keep control of the player's character. After the hunter has equipped the players character with the restraints, they say; "Right, now lets get a move on". After which they are hit, & killed by a arrow, fired from a wounded bandit. With the player's character talking to the wounded bandit, they find the bandit is mortally wounded, & dies before they can free the player's character.   

 

Restraints used for this are:
Easy - Iron handcuffs, rope ball gag, full top rope harness & a rope collar. 
Hard - Rope body restraint with plugs & piercings, strict rope armbinder, & a panel gag.  
 (Alterative version of hard - A full set of chain restraints.)

 


Hopefully there is something here that you can use, or maybe that will give you a few ideas.

Hi @CrazyOneand thanks for great ideas. Some of them seem realy great and I will give them a try. Others seem too hard for me to make for now. I will start will simpler ones and I hope that at end of day i will manage to make also the more complex ones. The 2. and 4. seem quite managable so i will try them but first i want to make the bound at home start @SirCrazy suggested earlier, because it looks most easy. Also i think I will add more random locations and sets so there is some progress on mod make.

Rather than staging complex scenes, I'd suggest finding simple ways to start the player after a simple blackout. Drop the player into whatever cell you plan to use, engage in dialogue with an NPC you put there for the purpose, then blackout, remove NPC, teleport the player if necessary, and add a pop-up notification explaining what happened. Staging things like combat, player auto-walking, etc. is risky. DCL's LAL start is a good example of a pretty robust scenario - minimal scripting, minimal NPC interaction, and maximum player input - it's very solid, even if it's mostly walk from A to B, talk to NPC, repeat.

 

Honestly, if you can build yourself a system where the player can keep their defined choices of devices at the statue of Mara and your scenarios use that instead of scenario-specific devices, the player's imagination is the limit for mixing and matching devices and scenarios - it would be a winning system.

 

Regardless, thanks for making this. Sometimes it's just more fun to have a convenient LAL start with just a few clicks as opposed to trying to proc a particular LAL or Unbound start and adding the devices oneself. It's also almost impossible to CTD, unlike using AddItem to get devices 20 seconds into a start. ?

Thanks for advice, I will keep it in mind. Regardless the system u mensioned i think i already have something of that kind so is seems quit possible of adding the option for user to choose set for some of the quest. Hardest part for me will be adding shit ton of dialog so the quest is longer than two lines of dialogs.

My issue with posting load order (and it sure as hell would help if I could, cause I bet I messed up a few things) is that I use Vortex and aside from the "Before/after" settings on conflicts, I have not seen anything indicating a load order. I tried installing this last (disable->enable) but that didn't change anything.

 

Edit: Hold on, I might be extra dumb. I THINK I installed everything around Devious Devices, except the main mod, cause I can't find it in my downloaded file folder, so I'm no starting it up and gonna check again.

Do you have newest version of Devious Devices ? 5.1 one ? If yes then send me papyrus log. If you don't know how here is tutorial. After you enable it, start the game and select whatever set or start from my mod you want. After if teleports you wait few second and then close the game and send the papyrus log. You should have 4 of them in Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Logs/Script. Send the one that have newest create date. My best guess is that you use older version that doesn't have LockDevice() function yet.

Do you have newest version of Devious Devices ? 5.1 one ? If yes then send me papyrus log. If you don't know how here is tutorial. After you enable it, start the game and select whatever set or start from my mod you want. After if teleports you wait few second and then close the game and send the papyrus log. You should have 4 of them in Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Logs/Script. Send the one that have newest create date. My best guess is that you use older version that doesn't have LockDevice() function yet.

I also see a ton of other errors in there, just as I suspected I totally fucked up. Right now I am struggling with the defeat mods, since that is a huge rabbit hole with old and newer versions, but other top mods that suggest the old ones as recommended and so on, but that is a topic for another thread.

From looking at log I see that my gues was right.

Error: Method LockDevice not found on zadLibs. Aborting call and returning None

There is also quite a bunch of errors when you start skyrim. I recommend you to disable all mods except for DD (and its requirements) and then try to install other mods one at time and playtest them.  The error could be because you either use older version of Devious Devices or that you use mod that overwrite zadlibs script. Either way I think i will need your mod list. I already see some of the mods from log but i will also need to know versions of that mods. So:

  1. Send me mod list and versions of the mods. Mainly version of Devious Devices you use. I don't use vortex so you are at your own at this one.
  2. Try to disable everything except for Devious Devices and its requirements. Then instal my mod and try it.

The versions should be then newest since I just started installing and modding Skyrim yesterday, so I took the newest versions I could find on here.
