CanadianGhost Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I can't be the only one getting tired of seeing folks uploading on a daily basis (and at times, it seems like hourly) new Sims to download. Look, if your sim really looks like the character/actor/actress that you're designing, and I mean, really looks like them (go look at TSR for some high quality comparisons like Taylor Swift that was recently shared for example), then by all means share it here on Loverslab. But if it's just some generic sim that you're naming or does not capture who you're trying to portray, please stop spamming the download content with those files. Or if you're going to make unique sims, have high standards like what we see from LittleDoxy and others. Once you get to a certain point with CC collection, you can almost randomly generate awesome looking sims on your own, nevermind the amount of bandwidth used, hard drive space taken up on servers just to host random sims. And I wonder how many of us just download these sims just for one piece of clothing that we like. I would like to see more adult objects to be used in the game than random sims that a good portion of the community can make....
Excorsion Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 While I somewhat agree with you.... you have to remember that even with as old as the game is... some people just are new... and not very CC savvy....also I blame patreon for alot of folks just trying to pump out sims as fast as they can... you know when they go to a patreon page from here.... we'll use turbo's for example... you see he has 10k patreons... lowest tier is 1 dollar.... so he's making 10k dollars a month...is what most players are seeing.... it may not be that much and too me it seems kinda low for the amount of work turbo puts into the mod imo...but the point is...you have some players who will put little effort for max gains....which ruins it for everyone to a extent. another issue is you have the staff here who will protect the creators over everything.... while I agree creators need to be protected.. but staff needs to filter who is worth protecting... I mean they put out rules...for the website but then don't follow them 100%... for example....(mind you ruleset might of changed recently but i've been lazy and not looked) used to be that content creators were suppose to release stuff on a monthly basis... but folks complained some were not doing it and the rules were changed to be alot less clear on timeline. I mean if you are at home creating sims and you can whip one out in 4 hours... then if you spend 8 hours you have two...and say you do that once a week...you come up with 8 sims...in a month...but only release one... i think that's good... but if you are making 2 a day 5 times a week...that's 40 sims a month.... and you only release one... well then you are in effect just using the website as free advertising....staff needs to understand that some (not all) creators are abusing their ruleset. My suggestion... would be for staff to grade the content... and if it doesn't meet the standards.. then tell the creator it doesn't and don't let them abuse the website. we have many great creators here.... and yes I have tried to do it myself but never posted anything because I know my stuff is not good enough to showcase...and if the staff lets others abuse the system I'm afraid they will chase off the great creators we have here.... Just my two cents. ofcourse since I talked about some taboo stuff I expect this thread to be locked But change can't happen unless you have a discussion first. Edit btw this should of be in general discussion and not in download section bud

Are you, perhaps, confusing LL with another site? 23 minutes ago, Excorsion said: would be for staff to grade the content Boy, you really hate this site don't you? First, what is "good" is in the eye of the beholder. As the Romans said, "de gustibus non est disputandam," (roughly, matters of taste need not be disputed-or graded). Second, those content creators not placed on the first tier would leave and take their material elsewhere. You may not have liked it but you've made it inaccessible (potentially) to those who do. Third, I believe that the Moderators already have too much work on their plates without adding this to it. A couple of years back @CPU ran several polls. One of them showed an overwhelming number of LL's members felt that the Moderators were overworked. There has been (roughly) a 50% increase in LL's traffic (as best as I can tell) in the interim. I wonder if there is enough of these people to go around. Lastly, @CanadianGhost, are you sure you're Canadian? "A Controversial Thought" doesn't sound like it comes from the land where getting along is considered the highest of virtues.

"A Controversial Thought" doesn't sound like it comes from the land where getting along is considered the highest of virtues. Hence the title. Oh boy, where to start - as I can see, you're a little snowflake so this will be fun. For starters, where did I imply that I hated LoversLab? I stated that unless you produce high quality sims, please stop spamming the download folder with them. There are plenty of sims creators out there that make really nice looking sims that you can get that aren't on par to what can be randomly generated out of the Sims character creation. And kindly bugger off with your attempt of trying to appear intelligent with your latin quote, we all know garbage when we see it. Sh*t on a canvas is still sh*t on a canvas. Secondly, saving bandwidth space and clearing up junk in the download folder so people keep coming here are why mods exist in the first place. They aren't here just to make sure we play nicely with each other. Loverslab was intended to host content that is not suitable for elsewhere - making generic sims and tossing on some lacy clothes that you can find on TSR/SimsDom or elsewhere really aint why we come to this site in the first place. And as for my fellow Canadians, I think 99% of them are morons. When idiots cannot recognize a marxist takeover happening right under their noses, then they are morons and deserve what's coming.
modella Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 This is a bit controversial. Part of me is like, “Aww, but they just want to take part in the community and share with us!” After taking quite a while to finally transition away from TS2 to TS4 CC creation, literally all I could do was make sims (and some of them looked absolutely terrible ?) but I wanted to share with the community I loved being apart of. Eventually I started making legitimate CC and kind of ditched making sims because there were already so many sims out there, why add more? So I focused more on making clothing and other items I hadn’t seen in the community instead. I still tried my hand at making sims and tried to get better at making them because practice makes perfect. Then the other part of me is like, yes the market is so saturated with sims, sims up to my ears! But what someone might find to be a sim they’d love to download, others may not think as much of it. It’s a toss up. I do understand the bandwidth argument however. Especially with how big files can be with just 1 sim. I had to sit back and evaluate my life choices when I had packed up a sim to share here one night. I’m like, really?! This is how much CC I used? I dialed it back and just limited myself to 1 CC outfit and the rest of the outfits would be base game maxis fun stuff. Less bloat, less surprises, less space to be used. As a creator myself who risks their little heart being broken if someone doesn’t like my content (I’m literally a baby), I still would encourage you to upload what you’ve made Excorsion! Even if you don’t think your work is absolutely flawless, still post if you have a desire to. People can always help and critique you to get better. I never really thought my content was good enough to be honest, like compared to Kritikal, MissMe, Ssstormy, SM-Sims, and countless others, I’m probably at the bottom of the list, but seeing their hard work and dedication inspired me to make my own and share ☺️ I’m happy I did because some people did find my content nice and look forward to see what I make next! The plethora of content here, especially in terms of sims and other things wouldn’t scare me away from still posting here either. This is a niche site, I make niche content that is expected of said site, why not post here? Heehee, I’m with nice like minded people that like cute clothes and naughtier versions of them. I also like a good CC hunt, haha, spending an hour or two looking at new uploads helps me get my mind off of things. Yes, I may see a generic sim or maybe ten, but at the end of the day, you might find something you weren’t expecting and really like! But that is me, and I know others may not find it as enjoyable or enticing. I see and understand both sides of the argument, and understand the frustrations that both sides point out. You don’t exactly want to gatekeep what content is deemed worthy, but you also don’t want to sift through pages of uninspired content either.
johnpage Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Well it is nice to see the odd sim especially if they are real cute but i agree with op there are just so many sims being posted at the moment and i have to say my own are pretty good but i dont need no more sims i need lots and objects and decorations and maybe a new world or two anything but sims, but i suppose its again an easy rout to patron (again) i do realise there is much time sunk to produce a good looking sim but i'm sure its a lot easier than producing an animation and i really am not knocking anyone here who creates anything bless you all i say, But there are a lot of sim models here on LL already and they are all the same dolly bird model types where are the real women the chubby ones the fat ones the skinny ones the plain beutiful next door girls the older women even elder sims i have to create these myself so it would be nice to see something special rather than boring porn models and thats the thing most LL sims have become boring because they all look the same. just my pennysworth
korbe Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 i think to cut down on it you need to make a section just for sims! send em all there! then we'll see more normal mods here!

mle Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I think I would rather have too much content to sort through rather than not enough. While I agree that repetition can be very annoying at times, and some content just isn't very appealing for a variety of reasons, it just isn't that hard to skim through new downloads on a semi-regular basis. For anyone making an earnest, honest attempt at content creation and making the effort to share it, I say thanks. If something is particularly bothersome (or especially appealing) a better approach might be to comment in public or private. A lot of new creators, and probably some veterans, are looking for feedback more than anything else and giving it to them is the best way to get content that interests you.

O_o
myuhinny Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Loverslab isn't just for stuff that isn't suitable elsewhere. There are clothing mods armors mods and a lot of other stuff that's not adult related found on the site. We will not grade uploads to see if they are worthy to be uploaded or not to the site.
Crazy Doll Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 In fact, the real problem isn't that people uploading things, I guess the real problem for the sim model upload is that some people don't update and create a separate share for each sim, coz of that download section just become a real mess.
fish75 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I do not entirely disagree with you. However, I would rather see an end to the threads that are basically just advertisements for somebodies patreon page, with few to no downloads ever offered. I am not calling anybody out here nor singling anybody out it is not about calling anybody out, but if you want me to support your patreon page you need to give me some downloads to see what your sims look like in game "In game photos" can be edited I want to see what your work looks like for myself, if I like it I will support you.
Oops19 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 There are indeed some uploads in the download section which are completely useless. It seems that some use this as a backup for their sims and CC. There are also new sim creators which upload good sims and it's very rude that other members update their posts without adding any download to move these new sim downloads to page 3 or 4. All creators which find posts of them on page 1 (below WW) or 2 may ask themselves when they uploaded content (and made it available here) the last time. The lady with champagne (Ms Rakkon) can be currently found on page 15, updated one month ago. It will be updated when there is a new sim ready to download and I hope this happens soon. Unfortunately new members will likely miss this nice download thread. Some posts have 100 download files and new files are still added weekly. Downloading only the new files is very challenging. Anyhow I understand that 30-70 single posts also makes little sense. This general discussion forum is now a "Look at my Patreon sims" forum with picture threads. Often these images can be found also in the downloads section. At least some posts tell a story, anyhow sims and not G8F figures are used. So there is often no need to use HD screenshots. There are of course many a few forum members which do it right, they upload 1-2 images or more in spoilers. Some with very good lightning, some with normal lights. Some of the best sims are not shared and I understand everyone who doesn't want to find her sims behind a paywall of someone else. All story tellers are welcome, don't get me wrong here. But a 4K Sims 4 images usually contains as much detail as a 800x600 image. Sometimes I think I should play with the streamer mod to hide the low-quality "details". If one could add 'flying' sims without upper body like this it would be great. No idea what 'Groovy Patrol' had in mind when creating it for Daz3D

Bullshit. Yep, I said it. There are hundreds upon hundreds (if not thousands) of normal mods here. As for why you come here, who cares. This whole thread and premise is based on YOUR opinion of what the site should be and YOUR opinion of why folks want or come here for. Sorry to be the one to break the bad news to you, but your opinion is irrelevant and in every aspect wrong. Thread Locked for being nonsensical. Folks, feel free to upload whatever mods you make. This site is first and foremost FOR MODDERS. It says so right in the first line of the first rule. Cheers and happy modding!
