@alpaca21

Using your newly updated mod. Seems there's a clipping issue when moving the arms.

It's the scarf-less mod with extra side boob. (Ignore the low-res mask. It happens from time to time)

Try using the one from batteryjar:

Hi guys I want to edit the @alpaca21 Kasumi Cosplay Backless version. It really looks perfect now using @batteryjar patch. The new mesh is perfect with Chest Wrap Remover 3.0, it's proportional and very clean. But with the backless option, it is somewhat awkward from the neck to chest area. I want to reduce this part of the robe:
image.png.0f07bb46cb6ec3b2ef01c1d8ba84f9e3.png

I want to reduce this part of the robe, I tried editing the Kasumsi.dds using paint but the output is always weird. I can't make it proportional/symmetrical. Do I need to edit the mesh? or the dds will be enough?

P.S. Sorry I am a noob at mod, hope you can help me

Theoretically, editing the textures should be enough, but yeah... getting the perfect symmetrical edit needs real texture editing skill since the spread out texture doesn't reflect accurately on the mesh..

Yes but I can't cut these properly to have a thin robe:

Every time I erase something in that area, the output always looks weird and not symmetrical. I think I will just wait for someone to perfectly edit the backless version of the robe :(

Yeah, this is why I'm so stressed back then when, I was desperate for answer on how to put the texture on the mesh in Blender and edit there directly, but nobody here knows how, so I google it, I still have no idea how, I'm forced to take a guess where the seams end.

So when you did the backless variant before it's just trial and error? Right now it's symmetrical for both sides. But since there's a new mesh for the sinobi robes, the strap became thicker and weird so I'm trying to make it thinner. But to no luck, I always end up with a weird output and sometimes jaggy edges.

Will the backless variant be updated?

Thanks for the response!

Edit: This is far the best that I got.

Yes, the backless option is fruit of trials and error

I will update it eventually along with using BatteryJar mesh in Nexus- when I find how to do it.

btw, what are you trying to get again?

i really can't imagine How you made the output symmetrical, you have a very good eye and talent.

I am trying to make the strap of the robe to become thinner. Because with batteryjar's latest shinobi mesh, the backless variant has awkward shape as shown:

image.png.0f07bb46cb6ec3b2ef01c1d8ba84f9e3.png

I am trying to make that part a little cleaner and thinner. The shape right now is a little wiggly and weird. Unlike the version of the original/non backless with batteryjar's patch. That one seems perfect.

Thank you again for your response!

Assuming you're using Photoshop...

Try this. (bunch of photoshoppy things I've used in the past I'm gonna attempt to explain)

Spoiler

Obviously, make a backup of the texture so when some of this goes horribly wrong, it's easy to fix.  xD

Load the image (the texture) and duplicate the layer.  Since what you showed above is transparent, it makes this next part easy...

Flip the entire (new) layer horizontally, then move it carefully so that the edges you're trying to thin down match up as close as you can get them.

Use the ellipse select tool to make an oval (taller than wide in this case) lining up the edge along the curve you wish to remove, and delete.

click-select in the layer manager toolbox to move down to the layer below, delete again with the same selection - this is why we matched those edges as much as was possible.

Re-select the top layer, flip it back to how it was originally, and change the translucency so you can move it carefully back to where it lines up properly with what's below.  When you get it all nice and lined up, select roughly half the image (working on the top layer still), and making sure to select the half that you did NOT "clip" back with the oval-delete, then delete that entire half of the top layer.  Set opacity back to 100% and merge down, assuming everything went well and you don't have any bizarre alignment issues or the like.

Now, for purely testing purposes, what I would do at this point is make a backup copy of the work so far (in case it works).  Create another new layer, but then move back to work on the original layer to select everything BUT the transparent areas.  Easiest way with a transparent image would be using the magic wand selection thingy, set to like 0 or 1 for the difference range and click somewhere in the transparent area.  Then invert the selection, and move back to the new (blank) layer.

Using something like the gradient tool or a brush pattern, draw something like a test pattern.  For this, I'd use a basic black and white checker pattern, with narrow (but not tiny) stripe widths.  The idea here is you're essentially creating a ruler.  Flatten and save the image and go put it wherever it needs to be so you can put it on the model in game.

Now if you've got weird folds or edges too wide or whatever, you can find and count stripes and estimate exactly where each side needs to be trimmed down to in order to fit properly.  Assuming it doesn't already look perfect, you can now load the original backup, paste the "checker" one in as a new layer, and select the areas you counted and estimated earlier that "need to go".  Before deleting anything, making a PSD copy here allows you to easily do this several times if necessary to get it right, but when you think you have the right areas selected, delete them, flatten, save, test - rinse repeat as needed.

Sorry if this is like.. way above or way below your photoshop knowledge.  Hard to guess, and even harder to explain in a way that makes sense.  Way easier to just DO once you know the techniques.  xD

Anyways.. hope it's useful, but if not... well.. Dammit, I tried.  ;)

Made similar edits to mine, for batteryjar's new mesh with alpaca's retex. Might be a tad skimpier than what you're going for but you can still trace the dds to see how/where to cut the lines straight.

@alpaca21 yes! That's what I am trying to do! You work so fast and clean!. Now that looks more of backless where the robe hangs only in the neck. It looks more right and "realistic" as if physics are applied. I will wait for the release of the kasumi version! And will study how you made it look symmetrical and clean. Amazing work!

Thanks @ZReincarnation! I did try to add the white line using paint.net but my work always ends up a little thick or thin compared to the original white line. Yours is almost the same to the original, almost seamless

I think I got the hang of this. I looked closer at alpaca's backless cut version. and ZReincarnations white line edit. I manage to make this:

The one I made is slightly thinner on the left side.  It's really hard to make them look symmetrical. Hoping your final version will be almost perfect!

Thanks for your edit too. But I still think alpaca21's will be cleaner.

@ZReincarnation I attached a new version, still trying to make both sides symmetrical. You can check it if which one is better

EDIT: @alpaca21 already updated the Unscarfed Shinobi Onmyo Set, the backless option is also updaed. It is way more smoother than my edit hahaha. Great work!

I already updated everything in Nexus for the Scarfless Shinobi Onmyo Robe, but for people here who already use BatteryJar patch, all you need is download the latest Backless files, if you haven't I already compiled everything on the main files in version 5.

...You know, I can't help but feels like I made a questionable choice in confusing situation at some point in my life, as an illustrator I always try to avoid something that makes my life more complicated and difficult so I always avoid NSFW stuff, I thought when I mod this game this is far from what you call NSFW, "Ah, I want to make cute things in this game so I can use other than Suzuka armor set".... and yet here I am, getting wet because I modded a game about fantasy feudal japan.

anyway, the fix is up for download in nexus.

Again, awesome work on the backless option! I saw the dds file and amazed by the curve cuts to have that kind of output! My edit was only a Straight cut XD.

Thank you for editing the backless option! Kudos to you and everyone here that helped to create mods for this game. During my first days playing this game I noticed that there are no good armors for female character. But now the mod community made the game a hella fun to play with loads of customization!

yeah texturing mesh kinda works in weird, I also baffled when I first time encounter that LOL (still am to be honest)
