Sigh. I do not understand how they don't get that what made SR2 so great was the balance it had between taking itself seriously and whacky nonsense.

 

You know what happens when you do nonsense all the time? It becomes the norm, and then it becomes boring, and then you try to be whackier and whackier to keep up and all that happens is it becomes MORE boring.

The only reason I have any interest in this at all is that SR remains about the only sandboxy crimey game where you have the option to play as a female. *glares at Rockstar*

Seeing what Saints Row has amounted to, is almost sickening.

I agree with you the only reason I am going to touch it is to play a female since stinking Rockstar does not like women .

This time I will not spend a dime to support them like I did last time, no way no how.

I am going to wait till I find some sucker who brought the game for $60+ and ask them to have their copy when they get ready to throw the CD out their window, like one did to part 3.

 

The series went from being a competitive game to being something that would assimilate to that Circus Afro moment in (I think Madagascar).

What makes me laugh is how they say they got alot of pre-orders but completely neglect the fact that most pre-orders in many games are based off of one of two things, the Teaser Trailers and the impression left from the last game.

 

Well we will see what they will do with Saints row 4 but so far all we know that trailer for new SR 4 cointains materials from DLC that was planned for SR 3 but instead will be in SR 4

Also for me all this "Aliens attack and make weird copy of Steelport " just look like lazyness with "copy & paste " to avoid too much work. (Same city + more tweaks and done )

 

SR 4 still can be really good and crazy game but for now it looks more like content pack for SR3 not new standalone title.

 

But we will see how it does.

I kind of hope they decide to scrap this whole idea, since it is a DLC that they are just charging $60 for instead of 20 that will include another $100+ in DLC like the last one.  But that is most likely not going to happen so we will get as Han is saying, Copy and Paste retexes and junk like that. My how low the series is going.  It reminds me of Wrestling (WWE) who caters to the kids who know not a lick about wrestling but they cheer for a guy who only does 5 moves and they keep making him champion meanwhile the real fans are being turned away. But that's off topic I guess

 

Sorry this Saints Row stuff just kind of frustrates me, as it used to be my favorite game of all time. (I know it may not be the best but to me it had everything I wanted in a game )

RIP Saints Row Series or should I say RIP Real Saints Row fans?

Well if they put on price tag 60$ then this better be a lot more than content pack for SR 3 otherwise no one will buy it.

Or SR 4 will end up like Hitman Absolution.

Actually what you mentioend is a fact, I've heard rumors of GTA fans going to the Saints Row forums to put stupid ideas like the ones we see in the video above, and mind you they did it on purpose for that exact reason. I knew one of the people but I will not say names, and I do not deal with the person as much as I used to because felt that it was a very childish movement to do. But anyone who is seasoned on the forums can certainly take a couple of shots on who some of those people were.

Well SR3 overall was good game (imo ).

I think people comparing SR to GTA are kinda missing the point.

 

GTA 4 is more set on realism while SR3 aim was to cause total havoc and mayhem while having fun at the same time.

This games are two diffrent "species " so I could never understand GTA fanboys going to rant on SR forums and vice versa.

 

If I want realism and more mature content I go play GTA

If I want to wreck everything up I go play SR

Maybe it's because I didn't play the other ones, but I enjoyed the hell out of SR3.  As such I am eager to see more of SR4.

 

My only qualm is that 3 and 4 look... very much the same.  If they charge $60 for it imma just wait for it to come down.  But I do want it, I will get it, and I imagine I'll enjoy it.

SR 3 was good but SR 2 had much more content inside and activities.

Also character where a bit cooler in SR 2 for example Mr. Sunshine. or missions like espace from limo and get back to HQ while beeing totally high

 

And about graphic I think that might be the biggest problem atm.

If they would release new engine and put ideas from DLC for SR 3 no one would probably complain instead SR 4 = Same engine | content pack for SR3 as new game.

SR3  was a good game but it missed the point , that being you can have fun and you can have a good and rich story with interesting and realistic characters ,I am not talking TES realistic (excluding skyrim) , at least like SR2 ,also look at the direction the game is taking now dlc being renamed into sequels .......

Well I think Saints Row The Third was just....way to short.

But I liked it almost as much as i liked Saints Row 2 and Character Customisation was way better in the Third, which is, for me absolutly important.

I mean...I actually play Wrestlingames (almost) JUST for the Charaktereditor.

 

back to topic: Traile vor SR4 didn't get me. While the Trailers for The Third actually showed some Gameplay, this one is just Bang, Killmove, Explosion, Dance!
Not bad in its way but...I'd have liked to see some actually interesting stuff. It really just looks like a DLC to me.

I love SR3 better than I did 2, actually.  Didn't like the control setup in 2, ruined the whole thing for me.  Too console-centric, not very keyboard/mouse friendly at all.

 

 

Yeah, if you played SR2 on PC you have a valid complaint. It was a horrible port job. It really is a console-first game. So if you can't enjoy it on Xbox or PS3 I can see where you wouldn't have a high opinion of it. The User Metacritic scores also reflect this more than just about any other game I've seen. If you compare console versions though, SR2 is vastly superior.

Can't really agree with that.

First of Volition made mistake and give people false impression that SR2 will show up on PC.

The Poor port was just result of laziness and cash grab since nowadays they try to make decent PC ports but back then it was like "meh just port it straight from console "

Look at GTA 4, there was no PC version announced at first and later when game sold very well on consoles they made PC port after half year which was bad as hell.

At first it was BAD

I pre ordered the game and when I got it problems started

 

First of all 1-st launcher window was in chinese for some reason.

Then Rocstar Social Club was offline so it was not possible to play multiplayer etc.

They finnaly manage to fix the game after tons of patches but still release build was terrible.

To me this video is more of a Teaser then a trailer. So far there isn't much info on the 4th installement. They might have tweaked the game a bit, but it's clearly the same engine. I'm wondering if the Black bar Censoring the guys penis because there is no more blury censor ingame?

 

Will Jonny Gat be back? (didn't finish DLC, if I don't know something) I'm guessing all the new characters from the third will return.

 

I won't pre-order, but I will keep my eyes open to see what the game is all about, so far there is to little to know, except thing we already know, like SR3 DLC moved on to SR4, but anyone knows that's not enough for a 60$ game, now we got to see if they care or not.

Very true, I know a guy named IdolNinja makes mods for the Saints Row Games.

I am not sure if he still does as I have stopped playing saints row the third fairly quickly.

Him and his team make the most of the Saints Row Limited Modding Engines (even 2 was fairly limited in that category sadly)

I do hope they add lots of Modding Resources like Besheda's games does cause if they do I will learn what I need to learn to make that game playable. Heck if I can I would get rid of all of the corny OTT stuff and just make a whole new map or even clone StillWater.

 

We cannot make an assumption from what we see so far it is true, but I am an avid Saints Row fan up until the 3rd failed me, but I still keep up with it because I rather get (but I aint buying this crap) a game where I can play a female avatar then be stuck in the Sausage feast known as GTA lol.  But I do distress I fell from my point, on my point is all hands are pointing towards an alien invasions crap and basically ETD being part 4 it has been indirectly yet very much inferred several times. So I would not expect anything too far from a over priced DLC, I rather them just had made it for srtt and started fresh with the 4th even doing something like a guy on the forums recommended having them start zooming out of the movie and venting on how the movie sucked and making a REAL Saints Row game.

Your right HanPL, to be honest, they had us all excited for the third one and for many of the old school fans we were in a shock. They did a series overhaul and really did the franchise in the opposite direction. Saints Row 1 and 2 had over the top but they had JUST enough. From what I see already it just is not a good start besides the fact that most of what we've seen looks like an over priced DLC. I played all the Saints Rows on my scale as a Saints Row series my scores go as follows:

 

Saints Row one: 9 (Great game sadly we could not be females)

Saints Row Two: 10 (Great game that had substance and a REAL and FULL city that you can truly explore and enjoy, even till last year I found new locations like he Bondage hidden spot)

Saints Row The Third: 5 ( Playable game, but since it is part and precedes games from a solid series it was a major let down in many aspects but the create a character was GREAT)

Now if Saints Row The Third was a whole different Series I would give it an 8. Because keep in mind when you have sequels you have expectations of certain things.

 

I would love the game as a different series because I am not against Over The Top (Or even a spin off series I wont give the GTA example but yeah). The main game should stay like 1 and 2 with the updated graphics. I also liked in part 1 and 2 how the NPC's where custom generated each single one as oppose to the SAME person with very little to no variations for the face. 

For example (I used to mod them too as well so yeah pardon the strange example)

SRTT- Business man will be defualt settings to say that fat spanish/black looking guy who some times has a scare in his face. Then sometimes they will have conditions so his suit would be brown, beige so on and so forth.

 

SR2- Business man would have Can be female , Race Presets = Black, Asian, Spanish, White etc. Hair Gen Models (at least 4+ choices)

Face gen will actually be Character Gen and so would weights though some will be limited like the crackheads who would mostly be the petite body type.

 

This of course is not all, there are more things to it, but it is the scope of why we are hating on SR4 so much. Keep in mind too that some of the little features like going into a building, doing drugs, side missions, hell even layering of clothing can make a HUGE difference. Lets not even go to Layering this is a 2013 game, and they can't do layering? The last game I remember that did not allow layering from THQ was for Nintendo 64. (I think it was no mercy)

 

It is JUST a trailer, true.

But that trailer is not convincing me that they are making effort to change, and seems like this is going to be another SRTT style game which MANY on the actual saints row site pleaded against. They listened to two childish spammer's and took that as quantity over the actual amount of people and validity of the arguments on the site. (Proof of this is go to Their website go to ANY topic discussing a concern about the new game/ direction I am 100% sure you will see the spammer. I won't say names because I do not do that as I don't dislike a person for not agreeing but the person is rather childish, eventually tossing insults to people who do not agree).

Also if I wanted to have super powers and crap like that I'd play DragonBall Z games (Which I do )

But the manner they did it in SR3.... it was done so poorly I didn't even realise he was dead until half way through, and even then I kept expecting him to turn up alive and well since I couldn't believe they'd off him in such a stupid manner.

Well you can summon him later as zombie so I won't be surprised if there will be some crazy scientist in SR 4 that will be able to somehow resurrect Gat.

Well, the thing is it has potential for a bit of a tradition in the games for Gat to get horribly injured in some manner and come back.
