No vanilla races are referencing Oriental via this mod, so something else you're running is tweaking with that. Open the console, select yourself, and run this: getisrace nordrace and let me know if it says 1 or 0.

The children are all pulled from the xvisionc folder which is why nothing you do in Oriental impacts them.

If you disable YChildren of the Sky.esp it will do nothing at all to any vanilla races while leaving the new children in place as long as you leave xvisionchildren.esp loaded. I've tested this myself and had no issues at all with vanilla races, or other custom races, with the xvisionchildren still in play.

The only mods I am running that edit my character's appearance, are UNPB, Mature Skin Texture, No More Blocky Faces, Better Females by Bella, Sporty Sexy Sweat, Enhanced Slider Colors, and a few hair mods (SG, Apachii, and Oblivion). I don't use Enhanced Character Edit or anything else that modifies races or vanilla races.

So none of those are tweaking with the Oriental folder. And I did disable YChildren of the Sky.esp, because I didn't want the race. But I know it is the Oriental folder that is messing up my vanilla Nord race, because the textures from there are appearing on my Nord. And when I deleted the Oriental folder, my Nord turned purple. So yes, the Oriental folder is what is overwriting the vanilla races.

So checking this out again, my game won't even load without the Oriental folder. So obviously, it is affecting something.

The first picture in the attachment shows what it does to my character without the Oriental texture folder.

The second picture in the attachment shows what it does to my character with the Oriental texture folder (I put Bella's face texture in the Oriental folder to show that the Oriental folder is indeed overwriting my Vanilla Nord Race).

And I used that command (getisrace nordrace), and it says 1.00. So it is the actual Nord race that the Oriental textures are overwriting. And removing the xvisionchildren mod restores it back to vanilla. So it is the xvision mod that is overwriting the vanilla nord race, not some other mod I have.

The problem is being caused by "meshes\actors\character\character assets\femalehead.nif", which is included with CotS. I'm not exactly sure why its included, as both the Oriental and xvisionc directories have their own copies of femalehead.nif. Anyway, the issue is due to the head part record for the head for the nord race not having a texture set applied, causing it to fall back to the path specified in the nif. The vanilla nif has its paths set to the nord directory, the included nif included has its texture paths set to the Oriental directory, causing the issues you are having.

Just delete the file and it should fix it.

Hey I have skyrim installed via Steam and am curious where the files are to install this mod

I tried using the mod manager and it just keeps crashing at the pick race menu (I made a new character)

I tried having all other mods (But the required ones) not active. and it kept crashing

is it unable to do such with a manager? if so do you know how to install it if you have skyrim via steam?

The All in one gear mod above also cannot be active via skyrim nexus manager at the same time as the main race.

So how do i install those.

Neither file is NMM compatible. You will need to take it apart and make your own package for NMM if you want to use that (which I recommend actually).

any chance of making a version with only the new race and without any other changes to the vanilla including vanila children, new raggy clothes or twicked redguard women plz ...

For vanilla children you just have to delete these files/folders:

- \data\xvisionchildren.esp

- folder \data\meshes\actors\character\xvisionc

- folder \data\meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\... (delete all files related to Children of the Sky!)

- folder \data\textures\actors\character\xvisionc

- folder \data\textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\... (delete all files related to Children of the Sky!)

- folder \data\meshes\clothes\childrenclothes

- folder \data\textures\clothes\childrenclothes

For raggy clothes delete these two folders:

- folder \data\meshes\clothes\prisoner

- folder \data\textures\clothes\prisoner

u have been most helpful, thank you random internet hero!

I didn't play too much recently so i've only realised it today but your skeleton is really awesome Jerwa and en hawk! At first i wasn't too excited because camera and creation menu didn't bother me too much, however today i saw that most of the animation that involve 2 characters (e.g. most of the finishing moves) are handled by the game way better and characters are not as misaligned as before. Game really gained a lot for me because of that so thanks a lot. (Now i really hope that's the way it is going to be implemented by Jitek in R3 ;))

edit: there seems a lot of people here who know how to mod, so maybe one of you will answer my question.

If i want to make a custom followers do i have to copy whole cots race to my esp? Because as far as i know i can't make an npc that uses a race from a different .esp file. Is that how Jitek created his followers? Or is there an easier way?

Damn, Ark of Truth is interested in this mod? : ) Cool to see this mod still has a huge following. Glad most/all of the people who thought this was in some way "sexual" inappropriate or something, are gone as well.

LostDayWalker has a pretty nice thread that has quite a few armors he converted to adapt to this body/skeleton, that you might want to take a look at as well.

I'm looking forward to the next update! : )

Been following this mod scine last may - It goes into my skyrim mix everytime I reinstall the game :)

An ambitous goal i'm contemplating on aiming towards is learning how to work on custom anims; I'd like to get full blown killmoves worked out for the CoTS race. (something that could work hand in hand with mods like Deathdance etc).

Just babysteps atm though - still learning 3dmax, nifscope, and how the skeletons work~

There are followers who have their own custom body and skeletons. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21038 - for example.

That is how to get followers with custom tattoos that aren't shared with every NPC of their race and sex in the game.

en_hawk posted his ESP somewhere back a few pages I think, you might want to use his instead of mine. His is just the scaling fix, mine I'm tinkering around with other stuff too. Won't break anything, or at least shouldn't. But like the voice I'm using has no shouts I guess, you only get the shout sound itself no voice.

Hope jiitek is alright, been awhile since we've heard anything. :(

I really like this mod but I don't like all the presets they have for the default characters. Some of the characters won't even allow you to change the eyes.

Please let me know how to just install it so the npc dhilren change, and not the character creations menu (Aside from the children of the sky build)

Disable YChildren of the Sky.esp. The NPC children are all in xvisionc.

You will not be able to play as CoTS with YChildren of the Sky unloaded, but anything else will have the bad options for eyes and such. There was a post a few pages back on how to work around that if you're so inclined. I might look into it more myself but am waiting on R3 before really getting into anything too in depth.

Thanks a lot, that surely looks like an easier way to do it than implementing a whole race and moreover i can give them an original textures, cool. I still don't get few things, but i guess the best way to learn them is trial and error. ;)

I see, i may try it. Have you changed anything else beside the voice in that esp? ;)

Btw. i played with race scale value in ck a bit and it seems that the one closest to original is 0.75, 0.8 is around half a head taller. Though it looks good that way so i will probably stick with it anyway.

at this point wait the R3 version

for the author of this wonderful mod. i use "ladybody" and the R2 is incompatible. mesh and texture go in conflict. for example the hand of children is missing (only if you have "ladybody" installed. other custombody like unp, unpb cbbe the "children-of-the-sky-r2" work well)

texture idem

i talk of npc children, because is this part mod that I am interested in

hope my info are useful

hey are there any armors in the gear set that work for males?

i was going through and. Well im using a male COTS character.

Any armor in the gearset appears.. well not as it should on a male character (Fox stuff appears like glass armor and the Alir was.. some other kind of armor).
plus pretty much everything else clips. is there anything i can really wear for this character?
And do you have plans to get some voicing stuff for male COTS? I think female had some voice edits i cant remember xD

I am having a problem. A while back I found  a way to cure all the negative side effects of this mod and was able to use a children of the sky character with no hiccups or camera messing up. Recently however I added unpb for the bbp stuff to get my adult characters able to jiggle their breasts since it was lacking gravity and I have sex mods installed.

Now the problem is since I did that it some how messed up the camera height for my COTS characters since it is defaulting back to the height of the adults. I just noticed it today since I was trying out some adult characters for survival rp element mods such as Frostfall and RND.

Today I decided to try and make a COTS character for the survival mod as an orphan rp character. but when I started playing I noticed the camera height was off. I then re-installed the XPMS skeleton over the bbp one which allowed for my adults to still have the bbp action but it didn't save the kids.

Lastly I attempted to use the new skeleton I downloaded from this forum that was supposed to fix the kids but instead it made all my non playable COTS kids huge. made them adult sized Sky Children ( I am using Breezehome Children) I was perplexed but reverting the file made it back to regular sized kids. I then tried using a height changing mod which is part of the race menu mod and it made things worse except I can shrink my adult sized characters to about COTS height with working camera.

My dilemma is I need a working Skeleton that can work for my COTS characters both male and female so they can have regular camera height (based on their body) or  sadly just put the race as non playable and start using children versions of adult races...

If anyone was able to read this far and has any idea or clue as to how to help solve my problem a reply would be nice.

To be honest I don't remember 100%. The only values potentially changed are the male and female CoTS scale, and the voice applied to both. en_hawks is JUST the scale, so that's a safer bet. I know for sure, for instance, that my scaling is broken with xvision children, they're huge lol. I had to go edit that ESP to adjust them as well.

First person camera is tied to the skeleton, using the current CoTS skeleton will not adjust first person camera height. You either have to run the first person skeleton tweak included in the CoTS options, which impacts all races, or you have to update/change the skeleton which breaks over all scaling and then requires you replace the ESP or setscale yourself.

The default skeleton, and indeed the updated one en_hawk and I posted, are all XPMS based. Anything that doesn't play nicely with XPMS will not play nicely with CoTS.

Here are the problems with scaling right now (as of R2), The skeleton is scaled instead of the race. The game doesn't particularly like this so some things don't work right, like first person camera height, and a few other things since you have to then scale the player which tampers with a ton of other values such as run speed, jump height, etc. It also breaks a bunch of related mods like Race Menu.

To fix that you have to re-scale the skeleton, which en_hawk and I (mostly hawk lol) have mostly done. It's not perfect, there are things I want to tweak more, and it's female only... I think. I haven't even tried replacing the male skeleton with it yet.

However, re-scaling the skeleton then breaks all expected scaling in CoTS. Everyone is adult sized again for instance, like you yourself have seen. If you setscale yourself smaller to fix it (e.g. player.setscale .7) you also impact the other values mentioned above. Bad juju.

The resources are kind of scattered... for CoTS male skeleton is actors\character\Oriental\x117\skeleton_x117.nif, female is actors\character\Oriental\x117\skeleton_female_x117.nif. I don't know if they're interchangeable, haven't even checked. Maybe after R3. With separate skeletons you need separate scaling, ugh. Not undoable, just getting messy to maintain.

Now when you look at xvisionc, what's making changes to the NPCs, you've got references for males to actors\character\xvisionc\character assets\skeleton_x117.nif, and for females to here actors\character\Oriental\x117\skeleton_female_x117.nif. See the problem?

Again, haven't tested this, but I see two potential solutions. One, pull the original CoTS skeleton out and put it in the xvisionc folder and update the ESP to reference that, thereby maintaining original scaling. They're NPCs, you probably don't care if their scale is set weird and their stats shouldn't matter at all.

Or two, edit the xvisionc ESP to scale there like we're scaling in the updated YChildren.

None of these are particularly hard, but all of them are forks getting further and further from the CoTS R2 source. I really, really don't want to do this. Hence I'd like to wait for R3 and see where we stand and then address any issues. I miss jiitek. :(

Ok, wall of text done hehe.

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/15220-armors-for-yii-techniques-labors-children-of-the-sky/

This topic has armors for both male and female, most are female but some are also male which to me as I also play a male, well, yay!

Walking around naked is cute and all and gives my char bragging rights for having beaten a big monster naked but sometimes wearing cool looking (skimpy) armor is also really nice. :P

Jiitek also mentioned to attempt to make some of the armors from this topic wearable on the males.

That's one thing I and some others asked several pages back as I seriously love the look of some of em (Zhaetheria Legend Retouch, BNS Assassin Retouch).

Jiitek is also working on a voice for the males yes.

For now you can install the extra option for females and in the sound folder-voice-skyrim.esm folder you can create a folder named maleeventoned next to femaleeventoned and for example copy paste the voice files from http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17736 inside that created folder as it comes quite close to male except for when you get hurt.. sadly that sounds very girly.. (but then it is a girl voice mod so yeah)

It is also possible to use http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19099 somehow, which is for males and sounds great but I myself have no clue how to make this one work for the sky child males as it well, is for elves, but I know someone made it work in his game. Anyone know how to do this? I'd like to know.

Alright well my initial Idea was to just use the XPMS skeleton for just the COTS race without effecting the Xvisionc.esp by just going into CK and switching the Skeleton the race uses and therefore with a height changing mod that doesn't effect scale just visual height (aka scaling without status effects) it can then allow me to use Cots children and even make teens out of them ( though with the mod it allows me to make any race small like a child)

Posted

Oh, forgot to mention. The CoTS skeleton, and the updated version hawk and I worked on, are not proportioned anything like the default XPMS skeleton. It's not something scale will fix as it's individual bone scaling inside the skeleton itself that's different. For me at least, when I tried the default XPMS skeleton (was looking at the alternate weapon placements) it looks awful. The arms become too long, the hands huge and it's just proportioned all wrong. Jiitek did a lot of work making improved and scaled hands and feet that don't work with the default skeleton.

As for the skeletons, that's what I meant when I said copy the default CoTS skeleton into the xvisionC path and update that ESP. CoTS already uses its own, xvisionc uses one of the CoTS skeletons that's the problem.
