Oh and...houston we have a problem...or a new feature - comes down to how you see it XD

So...I´m in chat with people about implementing the armor addons (that your char automatically equippes a CotS version of vanilla armor)

At this point I tried literally everything and found 2 methods of doing this - but - it cant be done without a downside.

Either the new armor addons are working but your char loses compatibility to any other gear that is not made as an armor addon for CotS - this includes literally every item + custom armor...

Or the new armor addons are working but any custom NPC will wear the CotS armor addon instead of the vanilla one by default.

This means that if you for example have a custom adault follower wanting to wear a vanilla armor torso it will show the CotS version of it.

So this is a problem - but at the same time (if youre using child followers) it can be an advancement.

This is how I have it now - and if I dont find a better solution I´ll release this as it is now as an optional addon.

I would not worry about it. That would be more along the lines of a "convenience feature". Realistically  your a kid dragonborn. Any armors you find in the game or steal, would not fit you any way.  Your armor would have to be custom made.  I would not give that idea another though for now.  Your Dragonborn "Get crafting"

;

I agree.  Just look at all the screenshots people have posted... no one is using vanilla armors.  If you're to the point in your Skyrim career that you're using mods like CotS, you're almost guaranteed to not be playing with vanilla armor.  Even if you wanted to wear them, you can very well be expected to make your own child-sized variation of it, as lostdaywalker says, because any of the armors you grab off of people would be adult-sized.  "Get crafting" is right!

This has already been addressed and done. Lutana Child Armor (for Ashen Trap) also supports CotS with meshes placed in the COTS folder, and refitted meshes for it have already been made for most armors. It requires using a Java patcher similar to SkyRe's Reproccer to generate the child versions of armor items, and it swaps them out when they are equipped.

Keep in mind that LCA is still fairly experimental.

Can you please link to it. Only the headgear is on google.

BTW, I'm luthien (luthienanarion on the Nexus). Feel free to leave comments in the Honorhall thread if you find bugs. The current version of SkyProc can't import ARMAs from Dragonborn because one of them contains a subrecord it doesn't recognize, so the patcher is unable to work with it currently.

Thanks for the help explaing things Summerwolf, I appreciate it.

I will be testing those programs when I have the time. :)

@ Waffles:

When I click the link of honorhall I get a white page with: You do not have permission to view this topic.

I'l be looking you up on the Nexus then.

The child armor mod isn't on the Nexus, because no non-nude child race mod exists. Feel free to PM me here, there, or anywhere, however--I'd rather not post MediaFire links here.

There is a crawling mod, but I have not used it yet.

Really...  I didn't know that such a mod was around.  I'll check it out if I can find it.

I use Jaysus Swords mod (nexus), which has a katana sword in it, the Akavirii Sword.  Unfortunately, it is one-handed and won't sit on your back like that.

InsanitySorrow has done a bunch of katana that come in one-handed, two-handed (sheathed on the back) and knife variations. I recommend that you check out his files on Nexus.

Hmm, any idea which ones?  They all have pictures that show them being wielded as one-handers.

It's probably too late for me anyway, I'm @ level 30 with zero 2-hander skill.

I have only Celtic Katana installed and it has a two-handed version (called Dai-Katana). Dunno about others, not such a huge fan of katanas myself, but you can download the files and see if they contain a .nif for the two-handed version. :D

There are a bunch added in Immersive Weapons I believe. It's a giant BSA so I haven't cracked it open to verify but I can't find any other NIFs for the bunches of them in my game, so I think it's from IW. There are several long and short variant pairings, as well as 1h and 2h swords. I'll do more digging and report back in a bit.

Edit: Yep, definitely from IW here.

Seeing:

Katana Dae, Iron, Silver and Steel.

Nodachi Dae, iron, silver and steel. I believe this is the 2h.

Wakizashi Dae, iron, silver, steel.

Couple uniques too... Phoenix Katana... Dragonbane... look Katana esque.

Question. How can I fix height to be lower in both 1st and 3rd person? Even using the skeleton her height is the same as growups in 1st person. 3rd person it seems lowered but I need to adjust it a bit myself. Cant figure out why 1st person isnt working though

Posted

Weird. I went digging and I can't find another skeleton setting the 1st person values. I've even got another mod that is setting it as well somehow, only for that race, and I can't find a single 1st person ref in the NIFs. Someone with skeleton experience is going to have to field this one.

Edit: It's something in the skeleton for sure. Used a different one, which doesn't scale properly to this race unfortunately, but totally fixes the 1st person camera height to always be the head height of the body. Not sure how useful this information is lol.

Edit: Newest XPMS Monli skeleton has the same problem, as does the XVC 2.1 (along with needing to scale 1.4 to be the right size which would make you very powerful). :(  The AT.93 skeleton fixes the camera issue, adjusts properly to any height you use, but has to be scaled to 0.85 to be correct size which would weaken you considerably. The old lolwhat skeleton works with the camera height, and doesn't have the scale fight with Race Menu, but has bobblehead syndrome and giant hands ta boot. jiiteks is way better.

I wonder if this is already fixed in R3.

and works with http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34155/

And CotS uses the skeleton for dual sheath redux too. Those 3 weapons are a match made in heaven.

If lutana's child armors worked with immersive armors I'd probably be happy with my mod list for once.

Well that's not ENTIRELY true, there is one non-nude child race mod on the Nexus that I know of, although it's not made exclusively for that. Drow Race has a child version of the race! :P

When I first create the character they are so tiny I have to use set scale (1.4 I think) so they are about the right height (just about shoulder height).  Well set scale takes care of that issue but I also have an issue where the character moves way to fast. Are these just issues with my install? Also any thoughts on how to deal with the speed issue?

That's a conflict with Race Menu due to something in the skeleton. I don't know of a good fix other than to not use Race Menu or to just play with scale bumped (and have to bump it back every now and then). I don't know what the correction factor would be, but you can change your run speed via console.

player.getav speedmult

100 is default (any effects, armors, perks, etc that change speed will be reflected, so do this while naked/no buffs/etc).

player.modav ## will add (-## will subtract) from the current value FOREVER. It will persist through status changes, leveling, scale changes, saves/reloads, etc. (But only if you do modav, no clue why setav doesn't work right).

So for instance if you setscale 1.4 and then player.getav speedmult says 100 (I suspect it will), you'd want to make smallish changes like player.modav speedmult -10 and then try again. Change is effective immediately, so you can keep tweaking it until it feels right, then save your gave. As long as you don't revert back past that save it'll stick. Forgot to mention, in case it wasn't clear, that what you're changing is the base value so effects will still modify it after you've set it it won't make you always run that speed no matter what heh.

And if you ever get frustrated not being able to jump up onto things because your scale isn't right, player.setgs fjumpheightmin 100 (76 is default, so that's +24). And for a laugh set it to 125 or something for awhile too. :D

Just a heads up, I've been working on converting the Osare panties (and some other underwear-style stuff) to fit the CotS males. Here's what I've got so far, since people are interested I guess I'll post a thread later after I'm done editing the screenshots.

There's still some clipping/stretching issues while sneaking and with some poses, but it looks pretty good IMHO.

To everyone who downloaded the file I posted in lostdaywalker's thread: The new file is incompatible with the old version, you should uninstall the old files first or you may end up with duplicate items and/or stray files. The updated version features an improved mesh, improved textures, and several color variations.

how can you make your character do that pose in the picture

I often forget about that one, because it was never updated to support recent Skyrim versions. Someone here made an unofficial update, but they removed the child races from it. :dodgy:

Either way, I stand corrected.

tested drow race

lol its smaller then CoTS :)

see some problems on body which covered by dark skin

edited NIF a bit to remove ugly outfit for naked body, some comparison with CoTS R2 (dont look at dark face, its deleted facegen)

btw zazimeldrow.esp have many dirty records and some incorrect (bad relationships for followers), not wonder that ppl have problems with it

Actually, from personal testing, it seems you only need to disable the RaceMenuPlugin and not the entire RaceMenu mod in order to fix the height issues.  This means you won't be able to adjust your height in the race menu itself, but you should be normal height in game this way.  The other options in the plugin dont really work for Sky Children anyway so it's not a big loss to disable it for creating a Sky Child.
