InFlames592 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Downloaded everything, just ducky! except I need textures for the Followers teddy bear (Nila) and the other girls sword (Yune).. where can I find these? sorry X_X
Dark Thoughts Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I'm wondering if it is possible to change the mod that it doesn't modify other races (like the headmesh seems to bash into the other races too which looks kinda weird and the eye color ins are bugging out like hell on other races), and maybe change the race height so it is like the other skyrim childs (changing it manually gives me a very glitchy camera and they are VERY tiny by default for me ...)? The problem with the headmesh and eyecolors is gone if I deactivate the playable race .esp but I want at least one or two child characters to play with and the skyrim childs are looking buggy too then.
Spyder Arachnid Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I think I'm finally going to have to just uninstall this mod. While I love what it does to the vanilla children in the game and it makes them so much more better looking, it really messes up all vanilla races. The Oriental folder overwrites all my vanilla textures (playing a Nord). Tried just deleting that folder and it turned my character purple. Yet it did nothing to the children. So I don't know what exactly is using this Oriental folder, but it is overwriting the vanilla races and does nothing for the vanilla children. Really sucks cause I love using this as a child replacer, but since it keeps messing up my regular character and overwriting it, I'm going to have to get rid of it till that gets fixed.
requiemfang Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Some facegen data is in the Oriental directory, and other is in the xVision directory. I am using Race Menu 1.5 and ECE 1.0 together, with no problems. Used them separately before, and both work. race menu and ece? doesn't ece version 1 faq state it's incompatible with race menu?
Dragonfire3 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 All you have to do to get eyes and stuff working again is use Tes5Edit and copy the skyrim portion of those folders over to an esp (that is automade) and name it COTSeyes fix.

Ark of Truth Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 What up with the Rapidgator exe when I try and download this mod?
Vein Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 What up with the Rapidgator exe when I try and download this mod? That is just Rapidgator trying to be dumb. 1. Click on the "Slow Speed Download" button 2. Wait certain amount of time til it will let you download 3. Enter answer to security question. 4. At this next part, it will take you to a page that says "Click here to Download" Before you do though, you want to uncheck the little box below it that states: "Download with Rapidgator's download manager" Otherwise, if you don't, you will download an .exe file that does something else... no idea what though, not interested in finding out myself. If you uncheck that box it will let you download the file directly (although slow) without having to go through some suspicious program.

The problem with the headmesh and eyecolors is gone if I deactivate the playable race .esp but I want at least one or two child characters to play with and the skyrim childs are looking buggy too then. The height issue and first person camera issue are sorted in the unofficial new skeleton and ESP posted here. Haven't looked into the other issues yet. The facegen stuff can be removed to use your own beauty mods, which will actually then impact CoTS as well. I might look into that next actually, since I think it's just a simple resource path in the ESP. I think I'm finally going to have to just uninstall this mod. While I love what it does to the vanilla children in the game and it makes them so much more better looking, it really messes up all vanilla races. The Oriental folder overwrites all my vanilla textures (playing a Nord). Tried just deleting that folder and it turned my character purple. Yet it did nothing to the children. No vanilla races are referencing Oriental via this mod, so something else you're running is tweaking with that. Open the console, select yourself, and run this: getisrace nordrace and let me know if it says 1 or 0. The children are all pulled from the xvisionc folder which is why nothing you do in Oriental impacts them. If you disable YChildren of the Sky.esp it will do nothing at all to any vanilla races while leaving the new children in place as long as you leave xvisionchildren.esp loaded. I've tested this myself and had no issues at all with vanilla races, or other custom races, with the xvisionchildren still in play.
en_hawk Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I might look into that next actually, since I think it's just a simple resource path in the ESP. It's not, the path to each tri file is included in every single head part that makes use of it. All of them. The issues with the eyes are because the CotS esp patches all the vanilla eyes to be non-playable for some reason. Other issues are that while some of the paths for the .tri files have been changed to a new directory, some of them haven't and are using the vanilla locations. That means any vanilla head parts that use those tri files are stuck with them, as if you change them out for vanilla files or some other mod of your choosing the effect is applied to the CotS assets that use them as well.
JerWA Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I think it does the eyes because they don't line up, at least for me they don't. RaceMenu or something else is removing the restriction so that all the eyes are selectable for me as CoTS, but it's very obvious when you leave the ones meant for CoTS because they aren't in the eye holes. As for the headgen stuff, I'm pretty sure I'm not using any CoTS stuff anyways. Have a bunch of beauty mods, and made my own NMM pack of CoTS, and let it overwrite nothing. I'm sure that's part of why these issues have skipped my mind, I don't run into them any more. But that's the kind've thing that started me on the path to trying to sort this stuff out. To me, the ideal custom race is just that, custom. I would rather it not touch anything vanilla. I don't know if that's on jiiteks radar at all though, and don't really want to sidetrack the main effort. I'll be happy to track all that stuff down though and see if we can get it integrated hehe.

I've tested this myself and had no issues at all with vanilla races, or other custom races, with the xvisionchildren still in play. The only mods I am running that edit my character's appearance, are UNPB, Mature Skin Texture, No More Blocky Faces, Better Females by Bella, Sporty Sexy Sweat, Enhanced Slider Colors, and a few hair mods (SG, Apachii, and Oblivion). I don't use Enhanced Character Edit or anything else that modifies races or vanilla races. So none of those are tweaking with the Oriental folder. And I did disable YChildren of the Sky.esp, because I didn't want the race. But I know it is the Oriental folder that is messing up my vanilla Nord race, because the textures from there are appearing on my Nord. And when I deleted the Oriental folder, my Nord turned purple. So yes, the Oriental folder is what is overwriting the vanilla races. So checking this out again, my game won't even load without the Oriental folder. So obviously, it is affecting something. The first picture in the attachment shows what it does to my character without the Oriental texture folder. The second picture in the attachment shows what it does to my character with the Oriental texture folder (I put Bella's face texture in the Oriental folder to show that the Oriental folder is indeed overwriting my Vanilla Nord Race). And I used that command (getisrace nordrace), and it says 1.00. So it is the actual Nord race that the Oriental textures are overwriting. And removing the xvisionchildren mod restores it back to vanilla. So it is the xvision mod that is overwriting the vanilla nord race, not some other mod I have.

Yeah, installing face mods for new meshes and tri files, has to be done manually. This is how I use ECE and Pretty Face Pack, and other different textures, manual install only. I can have all Vanilla characters with one body/skin type, children with another, and my character with a third. I think it does the eyes because they don't line up, at least for me they don't. RaceMenu or something else is removing the restriction so that all the eyes are selectable for me as CoTS, but it's very obvious when you leave the ones meant for CoTS because they aren't in the eye holes. You need to install the files from Jitek's pack, that overwrites the vanilla facegen files. Then all of the eyes will line up correctly. I think ECE also had this problem, and I overwrote the file with the one Jitek provides.

AkuYokai Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Mirror one is not working as you get a server error durring the download and because of location block I can not use Rapid Gator. Can anyone please upload the updated file for me to another service?

When I say "this mod" I mean CoTS, the playable race and related resources. Xvisionc is fairly independent, uses it's own resources, etc. I wasn't even thinking about it! I'll look at the ESP for xvisionc tonight. Again, I ran it that way for awhile (no YChildren, playing as another race) and didn't notice any problems but didn't run that configuration for very long so certainly could have missed something. I also wonder if that's something in the facegen data. CoTS does overwrite some vanilla resources in \data\meshes\actors\character\Character Assets. You might want to check there, empty it and put your beauty mods back (or reinstall your beauty mods letting them overwrite). Sorry for the confusion. I'm sure we'll figure it out (all the wonderful users here), just bear with us.

HoukaKyouryuu Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Hey I have skyrim installed via Steam and am curious where the files are to install this mod I tried using the mod manager and it just keeps crashing at the pick race menu (I made a new character)I tried having all other mods (But the required ones) not active. and it kept crashing is it unable to do such with a manager? if so do you know how to install it if you have skyrim via steam? The All in one gear mod above also cannot be active via skyrim nexus manager at the same time as the main race.So how do i install those.
arthurh3535 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or anything, but when I try to download the file and then open it, winrar says the archive is in unknown format or damaged. Can someone help me please? Which file? If its a 7z file make sure you have the latest version of 7z. They did some update not too long ago and the older versions don't open newer files anymore. If not, give some more info The links I see for things lead to executable downloads that say they are infected with malware. Tried to download the follower beta and my AV software went nuts.

Something like: [ ] Do not use download accelerator THEN hit the download button or whatever and it's a normal 7z or zip.

Open the steam folder, then Steamapps folder, Common folder, Skyrim folder and then the data folder. For certain mods it's better to manually install them than using the nexus mod manager seeing how buggy and crappy it is lately. Another thing use the game menu before running the game to activate the .esm files if none of them can be activated via NMM. You know the the screen that pops up when you click the game from steam or the shortcut that you have on your desktop. I also hope your using SKSE.

I'm sure we'll figure it out (all the wonderful users here), just bear with us. Alright guys I am going to teach you how to solve all your graphic or visual issues with COTS. Step 1: Install COTS by manually downloading the file and unzipping it into a new folder. (get the main / fix and armor if you want ) Step 2: Repack the files after selecting which features you want in from the optionals/patches and repack it by using 7zip. (example in the folder go to add to archive make sure the file you see is called Data and then rename it to something. ) Step 3: Use NMM to install the mixed file ( don't worry as long as everything is in the data folder it will install correctly) Step 4: attempt to try it. Once you make sure you installed it correctly and it runs then we get to fixing all the issues in one fell swoop. Step 5: Install TES5Edit or if you already have it skip to step 6. Step 6: Run TES5EDIT and make sure the COTS ESP is selected also select the Xvision children just to be sure. Now you will want to wait for the file to initialize and then hit apply filter for cleaning. Once that finishes you want to select Head Part in the branches inside the folders (while in TES5Edit) and look for the conflicting parts. Once you find each missing part you want to Copy the Skyrim portion of the data into either the file itself ( not recommended) or plug it into a custom ESP (made from TES5Edit) and whala no more graphical issues. Step 7 (optional but recommended) make sure after making the new esp to clean the dirty edits from the two files before it and then if anything occurs just either PM me or use BOSS.
