YII-TECHNIQUES-LABORS *Children of the Sky* -R2- UPD-09.02.

So I got my game and mods working, but Sky Children doesn't show up as a playable race. and when I try the player.setrace OraezeRacex117 or SetPlayerRace it doesn't allow me to switch to that race saying The is no item of that name in the race parameter. then it says compiled file not saved. The mod seems to be completely fine except I can't play as the sky children

May be the nexus mod manager I use. gonna try a different one.

Nope. I can't figure it out. no matter what I do the Sky Children aren't available as a playable race. Maybe R3 will fix the issue for me.

Most likely, the body skeleton used for the armor.  Most vanilla armors use the vanilla body... unp armors use the unp mesh, etc.  Basically... for example... if you equip a unp armor on a cots character, she will have a bigger chest and hip size than if she were naked since it swaps out her body mesh for the unp mesh instead... cots would do the opposite causing anyone who equips the armors to have the measurements of a cots character instead of their default mesh.  hope that makes sense.

I've done a lot of digging and it seems like this should be totally doable. The meshes and textures are fully compatible, though I'm not sure how the shadow/normal maps work (they can be built into the nif, so will it diff them if you use different normal maps at different weights?). So I've got all the tools installed and I'm digging through the files and utilities.

Hopefully I will be able to make a new body mesh that will be 0 weight UBB and 100 weight the current default 0 weight. This would make it easier to weight armor as well as it would let you weight for both ends of x117 without having to "add on" the UBB support and mess up unrelated NPC assets and such. You would be able to use UNP Skinny as a replacer for everyone, and then CoTS armors would work for the PC either UBB or x117 and NPCs too.

The base files for CoTS aren't really setup for NMM. If you've been trying to install it that way that's probably why it's not working. You can pretty easily pull the pieces together into an archive of your own and then give that to NMM as a mod so you can manage overwrites and such (I did, for modding purposes), but the big archives on the first page don't play nice as-is. Let me know if you have any questions about that process. Doesn't take long and then you can add/remove/restore CoTS with just a few clicks in NMM.

If you want ping me in private message and we'll go over every last thing to figure out why it's not working. I love troubleshooting. :D

No I manually installed CoTS just Use NMM to activate the ESMs and ESPs.

I've got a working UBB to x117 mesh. 0 weight is UBB, 100 weight is current 0 weight x117. Proof of concept works, w00t.

Running into a couple of issues because I'm hacking around in CoTS assets right now. Going to move it out on its own next to make sure I know what resources it's using like textures and maps so that I know what in the stock stuff needs to be touched to make the full swap.

Biggest issue I'm hitting now is you can't slide the weight. Evidently the edits made to UBB took it out of sync with the x117 mesh used, so 0 and 100 work fine but anything else completely freaks out. Might be able to address that, we'll see.

Also on the to-do, and I've got the resources setup for it to test, is to see if the slider does some voodoo with normals. e.g. if you can have a 0 weight and 100 weight normal that aren't the same, and if it tries to meet in the middle like the mesh weights do. Might be hoping for too much here hehe.

Once I've got all these issues sorted out I'll try weighting a piece of armor to see how well that's going to work.

This is pretty fun. :D I've spent more time modding the game than playing it today.

Jiitek has said he plans to re-upload the mod to a different host, but in the meantime, right under the download button is a little checkbox that says "use download accelerator". All you have to do is uncheck that box, and it'll download the 7zip files properly, not the spyware exes.

f you click the first download link (uploading.com) on the opening post, and do not remove the "Use Download Accelerator" checkbox, it tries to serve you Children_of_the_sky_-R2.7z.exe.  (I presume the download accelerator has the adware in it)

He needs to uncheck that checkbox, then you will be served Children_of_the_sky_-R2.7z which is the file you want.

Oh and...houston we have a problem...or a new feature - comes down to how you see it XD

So...I´m in chat with people about implementing the armor addons (that your char automatically equippes a CotS version of vanilla armor)

At this point I tried literally everything and found 2 methods of doing this - but - it cant be done without a downside.

Either the new armor addons are working but your char loses compatibility to any other gear that is not made as an armor addon for CotS - this includes literally every item + custom armor...

Or the new armor addons are working but any custom NPC will wear the CotS armor addon instead of the vanilla one by default.

This means that if you for example have a custom adault follower wanting to wear a vanilla armor torso it will show the CotS version of it.

So this is a problem - but at the same time (if youre using child followers) it can be an advancement.

This is how I have it now - and if I dont find a better solution I´ll release this as it is now as an optional addon.

I would not worry about it. That would be more along the lines of a "convenience feature". Realistically  your a kid dragonborn. Any armors you find in the game or steal, would not fit you any way.  Your armor would have to be custom made.  I would not give that idea another though for now.  Your Dragonborn "Get crafting"

I agree.  Just look at all the screenshots people have posted... no one is using vanilla armors.  If you're to the point in your Skyrim career that you're using mods like CotS, you're almost guaranteed to not be playing with vanilla armor.  Even if you wanted to wear them, you can very well be expected to make your own child-sized variation of it, as lostdaywalker says, because any of the armors you grab off of people would be adult-sized.  "Get crafting" is right!

Well would you say a release this week would be a thing? You had 2 things on the list, one for armor and the other for editing a voice for males.

Whats the % done for those?

Well, I must say I am not using any armor at all actually as the vanilla armor that has a naked upper body cuts the neck/head from the body and hands and such things leaving space between them as I already mentioned before and you too already know.

Elven armor I did wear as it was ok looking but for a rogue/thief type char it feels a bit off.

Also, well, I have no idea where to find really nice looking armor for male Sky Children, like I mentioned, I would really like the Zhaetheria Legend Retouch and BNS Assassin Retouch armor for the Sky child male too as they look perfect in showing skin, looks and colour. If those were also there for the males I'd download them right away. Only thing that needs to be removed from them is the bra of course but as for the rest of it, they look perfect!

I hope someone can make this possible as I seriously love those two sets and well, thumbs up to it's creators.

I totally agree with Sorith, the male CotS need more love ;)

Agreed. There are no male CotS Forsworn in the X117 "Bandit and Forsworn ..." mod simply for lack of male armor. Many of the bandit boys are wardrobe impaired as well.

excuse me  does this mod has a male voice fix ? because I used this mod and I play as male character my character voice I think it 's not a kid voice

Just a heads up, I've been working on converting the Osare panties (and some other underwear-style stuff) to fit the CotS males. Here's what I've got so far, since people are interested I guess I'll post a thread later after I'm done editing the screenshots.

There's still some clipping/stretching issues while sneaking and with some poses, but it looks pretty good IMHO.

To everyone who downloaded the file I posted in lostdaywalker's thread: The new file is incompatible with the old version, you should uninstall the old files first or you may end up with duplicate items and/or stray files. The updated version features an improved mesh, improved textures, and several color variations.

@ Summerwolf:

Well done, there is even a little bulb under the underwear because of the penis as should be with a boy (or man) it seems in that pic if I see it right.

I guess you also have a more boy version option of underwear? This, even though it a girl version underwear, oddly looks good too though.

So yeah, cool. Is it armor you can equip or a bodymesh?

Either if optional is good, as I kind of like my chars to be fully naked, guess that makes me a naturalist haha.

I didn't make the model, it's Osare Underwear by anano - which was originally made for girls, hence the girly look. I personally consider it part of the charm. xD I'm not planning to make a more manly version, but I heard one is in the works from someone else.

As for your other question, it's both - it's an armor that contains its own body mesh. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to make the groin look good because of the default body's penis.

So you won't be able to equip it together with most armors that cover the whole body (though I don't see why you'd need to), but on the other hand you will still have the default naked body when you take it off. Boots, gauntlets etc. should work fine too.

I'm also working on a top that you'll be able to wear alongside the panties.

Edit: Also, I recommend you check out the excellent Sanosuke outfit by lostdaywalker, it has a male version and is reasonably revealing too. Make sure that you download both the base female version and the male update and overwrite the former with the latter.

It would be nice by the way to have a link in the main post to any clothing/armor made for males too, definitely with the Zhaetheria Legend and bns assassin (without bra but for the rest exactly the same) made for the males too which hopefully will be done. (I would myself but as of yet have no idea what to use and where to begin with/for modding)

As for now anything for males is so hard to find, if there even is anything.

I would also really love a mod that gives options to hug and kiss, so many sex mods that I expected those to already exist actually (aside from one kiss mod that exists that sadly has a terrible kiss sound, it should really be without sound).

I would also really love a cute male sky child follower for my sky child.

So as a request, any of you have some good link or links to really well explained (with pictures and all) tutorials on how to mod for a noob like me?

And links to safe and good programs to use for such? I heard about a thing called blender and such, no idea what I need so if someone does, well, I'd love to learn so I can maybe end up learning it fast and then help out myself too with mods.

lostdaywalker is about the only person I know of that has done a handful of male CotS armors, you can find them in his thread.

The Bathing Beauties Luxury Suite mod allows you to hug any and all NPCs that live in the Suite, including any followers you invited yourself to live in the Suite (works with almost any follower mod). It works even when they're not in the Suite at the moment (following you around Tamriel), as long as the Suite is their home. In other words, the Suite essentially functions as a "hug any follower" mod, which is a pretty cool unadvertised feature. Unfortunately the hug animation is a bit off between children as it was designed for adult characters, but still it's quite nice.

If you are interested in making a follower, here are two excellent tutorials that explain how to convert your Skyrim player character into an NPC follower. The only difference is that you will need to make sure that your mod depends on Children on the Sky and your NPC's race is Sky Child, because of the race's custom skeleton.

As for armor editing tutorials... with all due respect and gratitude to the people who wrote them, pretty much every single one I've used either omitted some crucial information or presented things in a needlessly complicated manner, forcing me to join bits and pieces of many tutorials and learn many things through trial and error. So it's hard for me to recommend something, especially if you want it well-explained and with pictures.

Making your mesh in Blender (or editing an existing one) is actually the most fun and straightforward (which doesn't necessarily mean easy) part, it's the process of getting it to work in the game that's often boring and obscure. Using Blender is a science of its own and I'm sure you can find many excellent tutorials through Google. Beyond basic usage, for editing existing armor you will mainly need to learn about sculpting, proportional editing (to ensure that things that should be smooth stay smooth), UV unwrapping (mapping your mesh to a texture - in the case your edits to the mesh are so big that they require redoing the texture), and rigging (mapping your mesh to a skeleton so that it can be animated - for the rare occasions where bone weight copy doesn't make the cut).

Posted

Sounds complicated haha.

As for the luxury suite, awesome mod yes!

But for some reason the hug does not show in third person for me and goes in first person view... Though maybe that's because my char is a sky child and that npc was an adult? I did that to test it out and as I had no sky child male follower the males in that suite were the only option to test it which as I said resulted in not being able to see it as it went in first person mode and me only seeing the guy's chest and through it.

If it works in third person that would be awesome as then you can see em hug, which is what I want and hopefully even with free camera movement and even a way of making it last longer.

As for the kiss mod with the awfull sound, I could try and download that one and see if it has a sound folder, then all I need to do with that is remove that sound, though if it is in some esp file, or whichever has it, then it's gonna be hard as I have no idea how to open those and the only downloadable things I found that supposedly can open such required me to pay and I did not entirely trust those.

Edit:

And I will be looking at those links on how to make your own char a follower too, could be nice.

Is there a way to make this mod not affect the player but only the NPCs? I would love to have these "upgraded" once running around but right now it screws up the face textures for my adult character.

GJ anyway!

@Sorith:

.ESP files are Bethesda's plugin format and they pretty much form the core of any mod, you can open them either using the official Creation Kit (available from Steam Tools) or using free and open source programs such as Tes5Edit.

If you are talking about .BSA files, they are Bethesda's archive format. You can open them for example using BSA Browser (also free). Now actually updating them might be more problematic, but the game will always prioritize 'loose' files over those included in .BSAs. So in your case, the best course of action would be to either open the .BSA (if any) or browse the Skyrim\Data directory to find the kiss sound (probably somewhere under Data\sound) and replace it with either an empty sound or a sound that you like.

Edit:

Also the BBLS hug should work in 3rd person, or at least it does for me both for child with adult and child with child (see screenshot).

tesv2013040302290940.jpg

Have you tried making the NPC follow you and taking them outside? It seems the hug script forces its own camera angle and maybe there's not enough room in the place where you were trying to hug, causing the camera to "bump" into geometry and fall back to 1st person.

As I mentioned, the animation forces a pre-set angle which is unfortunately somewhat awkward, freecam doesn't work if started during the animation, and trying to go freecam beforehand causes my character to glitch, like with most custom idle mods. You can make the hug last longer by opening console and typing 'sgtm 0.5' to slow down time, though try to do it after the dialogue text has disappeared or it might glitch too.

This has already been addressed and done. Lutana Child Armor (for Ashen Trap) also supports CotS with meshes placed in the COTS folder, and refitted meshes for it have already been made for most armors. It requires using a Java patcher similar to SkyRe's Reproccer to generate the child versions of armor items, and it swaps them out when they are equipped.

Keep in mind that LCA is still fairly experimental.
