Following on from the above, I guess my question would be - would it be possible to switch all the current child NPCs from bretonchild/nordchild/bretonchildvamp etc to using CotS race, without royally borking up the NPCs or game? I ask because whilst playing today, I noticed a rather odd problem with Babette.

Currently I'm only running xvisionchildren, as I'm playing a stock Dunmer, and when I encountered Babette, she had some obvious model problems. 1. Gap between her head and her torso, as if it was floating. 2. Her wrists were missing, and her hands were partially transparent and almost glowing red, some small parts were skin coloured. At first I thought it was a clothes model problem, however after using the "removeallitems" command, the model problems persisted.

If I switched all the child NPCs to using CotS race, I figure I would be able to limit potential clothing or armour model mismatching, by limiting clothing/armours that they can use to those which are CotS compatible. Or do you think I might merely be approaching this particular problem from the wrong angle?

R3 R3 R3! Damnit I can't wait!  :D

Haha, me too!  I'm hoping I can continue with my same character, though I imagine that might not be possible.  Would anyone know?

Also, for those of you with better knowledge of the game files, would this mod be able to be used with Sky Children?

I really want to try having my Jaysus Akavirii katana sword on my back when its not in use, but I don't want to risk breaking my heavily modded but functioning set up by trying it out willy-nilly.

The mod author writes:

I modified skeleton.nif file and some weapons be holding different with this mod now.

but surely, If you using some another mod which is modifying skeleton.nif file, you may can not install my Mod with it.

I presume Children of the Sky modifies the skeleton.nif?  Sorry for the n00b question, I don't know anything about that kind of stuff.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

It's possible, but much more complicated than you may believe. You need to preserve a great deal of their associated keywords, factions, flags, not break their AI packages (which determines their behavior and routines)...or all the NPC children in the game will just break (or CTD skyrim). If you're dedicated to pulling it off, there's a mod on the nexus you should check out - it's a hearthfire compatible, adoptable khajiit child - she's not compatible with COTS clothing (she was built using a different body base), but the principle of how she can be recognized as a proper child by the game engine while being a khajiit (of which there is no official child race to work with) is exactly what you'd need to do, to switch all NPC children over to the playable COTS race.

COTS uses its own skeleton, yes. As far as I recall they use the x117 skeleton.

Are you looking for female? Male? Equip-able or built-in to the model? For the player character not the NPCs?

Not that I can help, but I'm willing to break a bunch of things trying. :D

Ehhh I don't have any boy Sky Children chars at the moment but there might be people lurking around that would want underwear for their boys as well. If it's unequippable then the player will suppatenko strip when losing his/her werewolf form right? If that can't be helped then a permanent body with underwear would be really nice ^^

The bottoms look like they can be done really easily, the female NPC child clothes fit. I know nothing about modding so I have no idea how to add them as a usable item. Adding them to the existing mesh as a new layer should be relatively straight forward, that would basically be half of a never-nude option. Think this part is also universal, same for UBx117 and x117 both.

The top, not so easy. Are you using the UBx117 (aka flat) body or the default x117 body? I suspect UBx117 may also fit the NPC child clothes but haven't actually looked. I believe the normal body is/was based on XPMS which is compatible with almost everything but I don't know what that means for clothes/armor meshes and a custom skeleton like CoTS is using. Maybe as easy as finding some you like from a mod and just putting them on permanently hehe. And may not be so easy.

Assumed it wouldn't be easy. Could be fun though, in an "arrggh" way x). I think I'll wait till R3 first to see if that changes anything wrt the Babette bug. In the meantime, would it perhaps be helpful to take a screenie of the issue to see if folks recognise it, and see if there is a less extreme way of fixing it?

Um well I just use the Children of the Sky mod without the flat chest option, I don't know which body the mod uses >__< I don't know anything about modding either(besides altering stats of items in the CK) so it would be lovely if someone could make a mod that haves them wear some underwear =3

Think I got a really basic solution using built in CoTS resources. If it works I'll look into making a few configurations and hand them all to jiitek to offer or trash as they see fit. :D

Amistryja gets to be my test subject haha. Check your messages. ;)

If you make the boys wear the osare underwear for examle (just by adding the same mesh for male model in CK) they'll wear it but it doesnt really fit (their penis sticks out).

Are you trying to use a UNP female clothing item on the CoTS male model? If so that's probably not going to work without making custom meshes; the scaling is wrong, very different ratios of hip to leg. Which one are you looking at in particular?

Posted

You are correct! I was trying that with the white ribbon one, although the meshes are all the same for the osare underwear ones right?  But I don't know anything about making custom meshes alas.

I meant shape, he's got two at least. "Hotpants" and another, tighter and smaller one. Neither of them adapts very well unfortunately. The UNP mesh from bikini trouble adapts much better but leaves huge gaps on the strings over the hips (because boys have none :P). Unfortunately I am a total noob with nifskope (tonight is literally the first time I've used it) and I'm missing something. I can't get any imported/copied clothes to render on a model in the game. I figured out how to get them imported and they show properly in nifskope, but in the game the model is still naked. =\

Maybe someone with experience can tell me how to take a .nif model that's just a body, export a piece of clothing from another .nif and import it to the first one in such a way that it will actually work. I can get the NiNode to import without errors and show up in nifskope but nothing in game. :( Been up too long so my research skills are completely failing me. Going to go sleep, maybe when I wake up it'll click hehe. PS: This part will totally relate to CoTS because I want to adapt armor for it.

The rest of the convo we should probably move out of this thread. :) It does look like there's another discussion here that you may want to chime in on Seth.

Oh, wait, are you trying to add COTS outfit/armor to a pre-existing (as in Vanilla) child NPC? Because that...yeah, that won't work. The pre-existing NPC children aren't actually the same "race" as the playable Sky Children. They're still flagged as actual children in the CK, which prevents them equipping armor/outfits not made specifically for the child race(s).

That's odd... all the children in my game have been made into CotS children.  All the NPC's, Braithe, Dorthe, every one that I have come across.

I think what he means is even though they look like CotS, they're in fact not the same race as the playable one.

So I have the mod installed. Saved at In Helgen. I know the mod is installed because of the changed clothing but when I try the "player.setrace 0raezeRaceX117" command it says the form is not found. I've tried the help menu search which doesn't seem to help at all. This mod looks really good but I really want to play as this unique race and the game won't let me.

The game did let me do the height and voice change too, I just can't seem to play as the Sky Children race. Please help.

You're in helgen, just start over and choose sky children as your race instead of something like nord.

Once you're unbound go into third person and use the console command showracemenu

You can now create your character at the right height.

I would but Sky Children doesn't show up in the race menu is there a way to fix this?

Something isn't loading or is being overridden.

Do you see ApachiiHair, RaceCompatibility, the RaceCompatibility UKSP Override (if you're using the UKSP), xvisionchildren, and YChildren of the Sky all in your load order (and probably in that order though not necessarily all together)?

I think YChildren is the most important for them to show up as an option, so I'd make sure that it's below all the rest of that stuff, and if it is try moving it lower still if there's other things below it.

Amusingly, to me at least, both xvision and YChildren are recognized by BOSS and sorted appropriately (or seem to be, since they're working for me where it placed them) if you're not sure where in your load order they should go.

I don't have ApachiiHair or UKSP. Had YChildren above Xvision, I'll try again in the morning, getting late here.
