Missing files in data folder.

So I have a serious issue. I have a data folder but no meshes and textures folder along with a bunch of other folders I should be seeing in the data folder. For some reason I can only see those folders when I go to bodyslide/settings/selectdatapath. When I do that, I can see the textures folder and the meshes folder along with everythig else. This is so confusing. I have files that I need to access but can't because of this.

If you are using Mod Manager 2 then that is correct.  It does not modify the base game.  The base game should not have any loose mesh or texture files.  They are packed in bsa files.

You need to actually provide the information on what you are using as well as what you are trying to do so we can help you.  Pictures also may be helpful.

If it's a "virgin" Skyrim, these folders don't exist. In Vanilla Skyrim everything is in BSA archives. The folders are created by mods - or as here by BodySlide.

If you are trying to edit the game files contained in the BSA, you need to be able to extract them

Bethesda Archive Extractor (BSA and BA2) For SSE

BSAopt - Bethesda Archive Management and Optimization For LE (Oldrim)

But be prepared for hellish work. The extraction of BSA is useful if you have to act on mods, which generally contain much less files than the originals.

As said by @gregathit  you need more information on what you want to achieve

Thank you, I had no idea that was the problem. I was so confused.

Familiar faces is telling me it needs to delete files within my meshes and textures folder but what it is trying to delete doesn't exist. Atleast I can't see it. I just unpacked my meshes and textures bsa folders and found everything that wasn't visible before however, Familiar faces (a follower mod) is still reporting to me through MO that It can't parse certain files which should be located in my facegen folder. When I go there, I don't see a thing.

don't know what your doing, but maybe back up bsa's before you go Dr.Frankenstein on them.

Why should I back them up when I can just extract the meshes and textures folder to the data folder? I'm trying to delete a certain file in my facegen folder that is causeing problems for familiar faces.

Basic premise of MO: nothing goes into your actual Data folder.

The files you're looking for are in the mods folder (MO2\mods if you picked Portable instance when you installed MO). You have to identify the mod that is providing these files and check inside the specific mod folder wherever your MO2\mods are located.

I was thinking you wanting to open skyrim, or dlc bsa's

Reinstall mod with MO, should ask if you want to open bsa, right? Maybe MO2 dont have that feature? I open every single bsa when I install mod into MO.

Deleting is not a solution here. The file is required. Either you correct this file or you ensure that it is overwritten. Keyword overwrite: the loading order is important. So make sure that the Mod Familar Faces is loaded after all other mods that have edited this NPC.

Learn to walk before you try to run.

You haven't a clue on how to use your mod manager so deleting files and messing about with bsas etc is only going to lead to more problems.
