Any particular reason for this?

I'm the developer of this mod and I'd like to know the details.

Then you can come into the AAF Discord and ask the ones who actually found the problem. It's hit or miss but i don't know the exact details, only that several users have had issues with it screwing their INI files.

EDIT: Just had a reply from one of the people who found out about the issue.

Person 1:

The actual problem was MCM settings not saving because they get read only on game load and then not looked at /edited during gameplay anymore

Yep, it's MCM related causing MCM to not write mod configs.
if i remember correctly it's because PPR does not write the values it holds in memory, what is the mechanic by which it speeds up iNi handling, in case of the MCM due to the used trigger by which it detects when it needs to write the values to the actual iNi what isn't send in case of MCM settings.
Only settings from game iNi's are handled mostly reliably.

And it seems that the problem is even amplified in the case of MO2.

Just wanted to drop this here since its related.  I was having a problem with the player character body going invisible, floating head and hands, and reinstalling OCBP presets or physics (sorry can't remember which one) and not using any of the Armor tagged presets seems to have fixed it.  For instance before I was using Natural Armor, which had problems.  Now I just use Natural.   Again the character body was going invisible and eventually the entire character disappeared, very frustrating.  Fixed now.

im not having any issues. fixed it on my own. just wondering if the guide needs to be updated or if there is another reason. for anyone having problems with supermutant animations, dont use leito plus erection fix.

some users like @vaultbait try to do a bit here and there (and Vaultbait is one of the few I'd consider "trustworthy"/providing sound advice, from what I've seen).

Aww, shucks, you made me blush.

But no, I don't consider my advice anywhere near the level folks will get on Discord. I do pop in there from time to time, and I provided some very early input there when this guide was first being drafted, but for the most part things move too quickly on Discord for me even hope to follow it all.

So yes, ask your questions on Discord, folks. For your own sake.

I personally use both and it doesn't break them.

Please don't spread false information just because you had a very specific issue.

I keep this Fucking Manual quite updated. So your issue was very likely with reading instructions/information, either here or in Staged Leito/UAP's fomods.

Fuck Nexus you mean. They're the ones who started this whole damned mess but this is not the place for such a discussion.

And yes, like any modern forum and/or webpage, you have to make an account and log in. This is nothing new.

  • #6 ZaZ-Extended-Skeleton (ZeX) 4.0 (REQUIRED) - (MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING IS OVERWRITING THIS) [Download is called 3.5 but it's actually 4.0]

The link takes me to a file called  - ZeX-ExtendedSkeletonV5.zip

Is this the correct file (I have  ZaZ-Extended Skeleton-3.5.zip (which is v4.0) currently installed)?

Looks like it got updated yesterday. The newer version is probably fine, the guide sometimes lags behind a bit on listing current versions. If in doubt, ask on the AAF Discord help channels.

I have a small question.... i use CBBE and GSS and the "Fix" mod, but now there is a new mod better than GSS... this one Discrete Female Skeleton at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com).. do i still need to keep the "Fix" installed? or just use the new mod alone? or a new Fix is needed?

No clue as of yet. I have not tested that myself, nor do i plan to anytime soon.

But easy way to check for yourself.. Since you're using that one now instead of GSS, mixing both CBBE and ZeX, are Gen1/2 Synth dicks fucked? Is Nick's?

If the answer is yes, then a fix is still required. If not, then no.

Thanks for the reply... i wil download and test it then... haven't yet lol, since the mod is new i think i will wait for more people to download, to sort any bugs that come up... before i add it permanently to my load order.

oh and a note.. just wanted to say that your guide is great i wish there was a guide like this for skyrim all the ones i found wasn't good and clear like this one... so... thx very much for this guide xD

Discrete Female Skeleton is definitely a worthwhile replacement for GSS.  I recently swapped GSS for DFS, placing the female skeleton .nif file generated from the newly updated Skeletal Adjustments for CBBE into the folder of DFS.  You don't need to keep the Skeletal Adjustments plugin activated after you copy over the .nif file to DFS.  I run ZeX, Bodytalk, DFS, and the New Idles mods in that order in MO2 and have found no issues with human or synth 1/2 models.  Switching to DFS helped clear up the Synth issues I was having with GSS, and you no don't have to deactivate DFS on a fresh game like you have to with GSS.  I hope this helped answer your question.

Just to follow up on this, I upgraded the skeleton and got a severe case of hovernipple. After too much fumbling around I realized that I had the skeleton copy in Atomic Muscle overwriting it. Switched that around so the ZeX skeleton v5 overwrote the one from AM and things seem to be working normally (though it'll take some time to confirm I'm not seeing problems with male bodies now).

I'm using CBBE and Bodytalk 3  - so far everything seems to be working like it should.

Same here.  Just updated to Zex 5.0 and all appears to be working as intended.

Nice!! thx for the answer, i already installed and its running like a charm, its really better than GSS, specially the part i didn't have any CTDs after i changed to DFS xD

Sorry for the off-topic, but I'm a bit confused. Could you guys share a foolproof version of the instructions how to properly install Discrete Female Skeleton please? It says:

put your female skeleton files here when using DFS:

Fallout 4\Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets\female

But I don't even have a folder named meshes in Fallout 4\Data. Where am I suppose to put these files? Can't I just install the mod via MO2 as any other mod? I'm using ZaZ Extended Skeleton v.5.

On the mod's own folders is where this file path is... just extract all... put the skeleton nifs you want on the meshes/actors/character/characterassets/female, ( the female folder is where you put the skeleton )... leave the first person folder in blank unless you want a first person skeleton ( example of first person skeleton: 1st Person Camera Height Fix at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) )... with everything set... just compress everything again with 7z or winrar... then the mod manager can install ( i use vortex btw not MO2 so i dont know if the files need to be compressed for install on MO2 )... as for the mods with bipedal slots flagged i will quote the mod author:

Biped slots flagged' compatibility files have two added features.

First, it makes it compatible with mods like Pip-pad, Tactical Tablet, etc. This is the main feature.

Second, when you mix and match outfit pieces, say a separate pant, top, and an armband, all using different outfit slots (e.g. 33, 38, 36 respectively), you will now actually be able to see the top and the armband equipped on your character in first-person view (provided of course, they have the correct 1st person models assigned).

Also if you have Looksmenu compendium download the version compatible with it.

Once you've installed DFS in MO2, right click on it in the left hand mod window and left click on Open In Explorer.  Navigate through Meshes > Actors > Character > CharacterAssets > Female.  That is where you put the .nif skeleton file for whichever female skeleton you want to use.  DSF does not come with any skeleton files, it's merely the framework to let you use a separate female skeleton from the male skeleton.  ZaZ is your male skeleton.  Skeletal Adjustments For CBBE is a popular female skeleton since it helps make the knees look much better when using CBBE.  When you install a female skeleton you can use the same navigation method to find the .nif file within the female skeleton mod.  You copy that .nif file into the DSF path I mentioned earlier.  You don't have to keep the female skeleton mod activated in your mod list or load order in order to let DSF function properly.  Skeletal Adjustments was recently updated to support DSF, so other female skeleton mods may need a similar patch.
