Your question is already answered in the very first post in this thread. Vortex mod manager, Mod Organizer 2 are currently the most popular choices. Vortex is beginner friendly, while Mod Organizer 2 is for more advanced mod users who either feel more adventurous or really know what they are doing. If you're new to modding, I'd recommend using Vortex. Personally, I've been using mods for long years and I still don't trust my skills enough to switch from Vortex to Mod Organizer, even though it makes mod organizing much easier, but Vortex on the other hand holds your hand through the whole process. 1

Agreed, from what I know both MO2 and Vortex are good choices. I've been using Vortex for years, but it doesn't really seem like one or the other are for "advanced" vs "basic" users. Both have some different design choices and some people find one or the other more comfortable, but I don't think it has anything to do with complexity. To take plugin sorting as an example, in my case I appreciate Vortex's procedural approach to building sorting rules for plugins, while I get the impression that a lot of MO2 users feel more at home having fine-grained control over exact positions of their plugins. Neither is a sign that one group possesses a more advanced skillset than the other, it's simply a matter of personal preference. 1
red-forest Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 I'm going to lose my fucking mind one of these days, man. I've done a clean install of F4 and AAF to transition everything in mod organizer 2 (my last install was a horrible mess of some mods being managed by Vortex and some by MO2, somehow it all worked but it was an extreme pain to deal with). I've only installed the basics so far, AAF installs correctly, I can launch the scenario no problem, animations are recognized correctly (I only installed Leito and SC so far). No errors in the AAF admin panels except the typical "overlays not found" for CumOverlays (which I don't use, but they're tagged in xmls, never was an issue). And then... the characters just stand fucking still, like the animation .hkx files are not there. Also the dog has no boner. Notes: I am using Creature Resources instead of UAP, yes. I don't want or need any of the stuff that mod has, since I will be running customized xmls after I set everything up which are not compatible with UAP. No, it still doesn't work after I disable Creature Resources. No, it doesn't work for human actors either. No, I won't use BodyTalk and A-Body used to work before. The files are all there, the xmls are all stock (for now), everything should be working.

Check your installation with the AAF Game Files Verifier (AAF_GFV.exe), you can get it from Moddingham. If it doesn't give you anything useful to go on either, then you'll get the fastest and most thorough assistance in the help channels of the AAF Discord, like the beginning of the manual mentions.

I did, it didn't detect aaf at all lol. I just nuked the whole thing again, installed on a completely separate drive and behold, it works. Thank you!

Why do you want there to be a war between people who have different preferences in tools? From what I can tell, both options are effective for the task at hand, and there are reasons why different users might like to use one more than the other or vice versa. Having more than one solution to a problem is healthy for the community as a whole, since it helps prevent the sorts of tunnel vision which tend to emerge in a monoculture, and drives innovation in both tools. 1

I'm just a cynic and here we have too many people that say you MUST use this or that.... Well, it seems that this discussion isn't as intense here as it was in Skyrim some times, but I remember someone telling me that I must switch over to MO, if I want to do some serious modding...
yhgghdg Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 so like I downloaded a bunch of mods even the requirements but when I start new game the game is like taking way too long to let me play am I missing some requirements or do I need a mod?

Make sure Buffout 4 is installed and loading correctly. It incorporates a file cache which should dramatically speed up the startup and load times. If things are exceptionally slow, then it or F4SE Plugin Preloader may not be working. Check your f4se.log to make sure it says those DLLs are loading successfully.

Also make sure your drive isn't close to full (Windows will do a better job of optimizing file layout when there's extra unused space). 1

For example I have a little over 600 mods installed and am running FO4 from my "C:" drive , which is a 1TB SSD that's about 75% full. The game takes around 2-3 minutes to launch from a cold start, and saves take about a half a minute to load (faster indoors, slower outside). 2

I don't think you ever said), but you should never touch the in-game "mods" menu if you're using an external mod manager. It's designed exclusively for managing mods retrieved from bethesda.net, and will royally screw up mods you install from anywhere else, frequently disabling plugins or altering configuration. 47 minutes ago, yhgghdg said: here are the logs maybe they can tell you what I need I hope I don't see anything obvious in any of those logs that might explain slow load times, but it could be something unrelated to the game or mods slowing down your file access. For example, maybe active file scanning in your virus scanner makes file access many times slower? Or perhaps there's something else running in the background consuming a lot of resources (check your task manager)?

I don't know if it could be useful, but I have 1025 active mods and 743 active plugin, with a ton of new armor and dresses (at least 50% of them are merged togeter). I'm running the game from my "C:" drive similarly to @vaultbait and my game needs at least 10 minutes to launch, ofter more. In game loading take up very little, not more than 40 seconds for, like, enter my lair where I have all the collection stored (armors included). Edited May 8, 2023 by vorongren

To enable naked characters, you'll need to use naked versions of body replacers for both female and male characters such as CBBE, Fusion Girl for females and BodyTalk for males. Adding custom naked body textures on top of body replacers is possible if the textures are compatible with the body replacers you used. As to how to make it all work together, you'll want to read the very first post in this thread, the actual guide, as there's no shortcut to learning it all without reading a lot... 1
yhgghdg Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 for some reason my saves keep becoming corrupt because of all the saves is there a way to fix this?
Sgt. Marge Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 30 minutes ago, yhgghdg said: for some reason my saves keep becoming corrupt because of all the saves is there a way to fix this? Maybe you have a mod in your load order that is corrupting the saves. For example, the RSE Brothels mod is famous for its save breaking ability. The number of saves have nothing to do with corruption, though. My current game has over 12,000 save files over the course of 1 year and it's fine. 1
