some bugs/issues i had in the last quest,  minor spoiler warning:

-lantern kept spawning inside the bureau.  could not shoot the lantern without needing an area of effect weapon that would get me detected and instakilled. (did i even need to do this?)

-i found and read every note i could, including the one that had the actual firewall code on it, but my character would only say the fake code that activated a memory wipe and i couldn't get passed the locked door he was guarding.

-i managed to workaround these by disabling all of the npcs with the console and then proceeding to shoot the lanterns, i still got detected but nobody was there to kill me. i unlocked the guarded door with the console as well.  Everything else worked out and good end was still attainable.

If any of these issues were caused by my own idiocy, i would like to know what I missed, if anyone has the time.  Hope this helps.

all of that aside, ivy is amazing and i love her ❤️, even though she makes me cringe sometimes.

I don't really understand what you mean with 'lantern kept spawning', nor what you mean with 'shooting the lantern'. You don't need to shoot anything in the final act, only sneak your way to find and read all the notes, then choose the bottom/positive answer to continue past the firewall.

well, the game said to clean the closet.  and when you look at the closet and it opens, theres a lantern inside.  when i shot the lantern, it despawned and another one spawned on the shelf above it.  this happened three times and they stopped spawning. i thought that "clean the closet" meant to shoot all the lanterns.  ?‍♂️

Took Ivy and Heather to Vault 111 to pay my respects to Nora.  Heather offers her condolences right on que.  Ivy says, "This is a vault right?" "Thanks for bringing me here!"  and I get the message "Ivy likes this place."   ROFL!  Guess I shouldn't have expected more but with all the familial loss in her own life (lives) you would think she might have a different attitude when confronted with physical evidence of the personal loss the PC experienced.  She also had nothing to say whenever I played Nora's Holotape while Heather definitely did.  SO, the dichotomy between the two of them is good.  It helps you to make you appreciate the little things they both bring to the table.

EDIT - Think I'll try to find her happy "vault" dialogue and condition it to NOT play in Vault 111 and then look up her dialogue where she offers to "Act" like Nora for the PC and condition it to ONLY play in Vault 111 with a higher priority.  At least that comment would signify her keen awareness of the PC's loss and willingness to "help" in the only way she consistently knows how with the offer of an enhanced sexual service.

It is a metaphor for the skeleton in her closet. You 'clean' it by finding the right memory. There is a quest pointer to it and everything.

There is a specific set of dialogue for Ivy there, but not when other companions are around because they 'steal' the trigger.

Yet another reason I advice to at least play ONE normal playthrough with only Ivy by your side. (I would advice the same for ANY companion like Heather, Ivy, etc..)

Understood.  I'll back up and drop Heather off before I go there with Ivy the first time just to experience it.

Oh, BTW, something weird happened in Diamond City with the Takahashi scene.  It started and Ivy stopped following me and headed for the gate.  Had to use the console to move her back to me so that I could actually hear what she was saying.  I noticed you were piggy backing on Nick's Takahashi dialogue and I wonder if she somehow got his package because he was still being held by Skinny Malone at this point.

Cool beans.  What I've noticed is that as long as I keep my weapon equipped, and she is following close, she does a LOT better about including herself in dialogue scenes with NPC's that I interact with than if she is just wandering around me.   I can see that the Moe Cronin dialogue is piggy backing on Piper's dialogue but is conditioned to not happen until AFTER the Piper interview.  Hoping I didn't mess that up by talking to Moe BEFORE doing the Piper interview.  Guess we'll see.

EDIT - Robotic Assimilation complete without ANY issues.  Great story AND I noticed additional dialogue this time in the "Memory Archives" which I didn't hear before.  Very immersive.  She's totally awesome!  NOW, just gotta wait till Nuka World kicks off.  Didn't notice that she has any Mechanist quest dialogue but I think Heather does SO, I may park her some place nice whenever it kicks off.   I REALLY love how she gushes whenever I go back to pick her up.  Not sure if anyone else has noticed but those animations of hers remind me of Judy Garland.  YES.....I'm that old.....of course SO is Ivy.  Thanks again for sharing!

Was thinking about what you said at the end of this post and I wondered if you knew that our beloved Companion Ivy has the MOST customizable RANDOM dialogue you can ever imagine.  If you take the time to look at the Blog where Reginald_001 gives everyone a thorough description of ALL the variables he's using to condition dialogue and script scenes it's pretty easy to figure out how to make an F04Edit patch to prevent certain RANDOM dialogue you find particularly "cringe worthy" from ever happening.  https://www.loverslab.com/blogs/entry/10396-technical-reference-and-modders-guide/

The easiest thing to do is just mark the particular comment as SAY ONCE, and then it goes away after your first cringe.  Another one is to use her _Ivy_ affinity GLOBAL variable because it's NOT going to be Zero ever again after you meet her and start talking to her unless you really mess up and constantly make her mad I guess.  You could also use the "love" relationship established Global variable if you feel that IF she really loved your character, she probably would never say those things.  Then there are the two levels of Profanity filter variables already in place which could also be used by changing what is allowed under the first level that you don't want to hear to NOT be allowed until the second level is unlocked.  It's so perfect in it's implementation and simplicity that as long as you stay away from her actual QUEST dialogue there's very little chance of totally breaking her.  And since your changes are in a separate PATCH, you just need to double check them if ever an update comes out.  At the end of the day, sometimes LESS is more but you gotta be careful that she still has SOMETHING to say in whatever RANDOM dialogue tree you decide to patch.

And always remember that sometimes a cliche is intrinsically true even when you have to rock the boat.

Is there any way to check Ivy's current affinity level? I selected Ivy using the console and used the "GetAV CA_Affinity" command, but it showed up as 0.00. And that was right after I got the "Ivy loved that" notification for finding one of the random magazines scattered around the Commonwealth.

And you got that because Ivy doesn't use the Vanilla Affinity - she has her own custom affinity tracker.

Ivy's affinity increases by talking to her, being nice to her, taking her places she likes to go, and completing missions for her.

I get Ivy's affinity increases by talking to her, being nice to her, taking her places she likes to go, and completing missions for her. I've read the help files. I'm asking if there is any visible way to see what Ivy's affinity level currently is. I mean, is it located in one of her holotapes or something?

No. You check affinity by talking to her.

So if you check affinity by talking to Ivy, does that mean there's an option in dialogue somewhere? I apologize for all the questions, I'm just really confused at this point.

Followed the marker down to the Crater of Atom to help with Processing Power, but I feel like maybe it's not supposed to be pointing me here...?

Once you get into the Glowing Sea it should "revert" to its actual location in the Super Duper Mart parking garage.

Open the console and type "GetGlobalValue _Ivy_Affinity"  without the quotation marks and hit enter.  THAT number doesn't help you much except to clue you in to when a MAJOR affinity scene might happen that you want to try and have occur some place safe.  Anywhere around 50, 60, 70, 80, etc.

EDIT - Reginald_001 is spot on when he says her affinity level is in her dialogue.  The "relationship" dialogue changes with each new level of "intimacy" which you establish with Ivy.  SO, just ask her what she thinks about your relationship with her and you will know if you are on the right track or not.

Having a CTD on sleeping with companion ivy installed. Trying to find a fix but if there is a solution in this tread that I missed. please point me there. Thanks a lot :)

Not a fresh save, installed this mod in a lvl 40~ save. It is 100% either companion ivy, or the companion ivy XDI patch (Taking out XDI would probably cause more issues than just not finding a solution here).

Installed mod, never interacted with ivy at all, didn't even get the first quest. Slept in a bed and got instant CTD after the "well rested" message showed.

crash-2022-08-03-07-12-56.log Crash log from buffout. Null crash and Pathing crash. crash-2022-08-03-07-12-56-AUTOSCAN.md The crash autoscan from Scan Crashlogs.py.

Load order is in the .log

Edit, This may be a load order problem, but I'm failing to find the conflict.

Edit 2, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/43409?tab=description Fixed the issue. Found the solution, to another problem (dogmeat best friend mod + Unofficial Patch) somewhere in this thread. Leaving this here for anyone unfortunate enough to encounter this bug

Edit 3, not fixed plz halp It's now only most times I sleep, I was able to sleep twice.

Edit 4, thinking it's new game time with a better mod list XD

Been "mod testing" Ivy with several mods which are believed to cause issues with her, like XDI and EFF and AFF but so far I've been able to complete her basic Affinity quests twice without any major issues.  ONCE in a heavily modded save game at level 34 and now again with a brand new game (Still Heavily Modded).  Having even MORE fun with her in a new game because I also get to have the new Heather 2.3 as well.  Trust me I did NOT want to start over but now I'm glad I did.

EDIT - Since Ivy is a Romantic Partner from the beginning, the Lover's Embrace perk will be activated every time you sleep near her SO, ANY mod you have which affects that Perk may be causing issues.

Hello. Im a little lost as to how to progress to the other quests I see exist for Ivy. I have completed the main quest and far harbor and so far only had her bring up hypercombat and the magazine rack quest. About to go to Nuka but I see people say all her commonwealth quests need to be done for Into the Deep to activate.
Were there just those 2? Am I on the right path? Does Stein's Construct also happen in Nuka World?
Thanks for the mod either way. Love the sass and naughtiness and effort put into her.

Quite funny, once when I started using the pip-boy, Ivy spoke up and said something like 'You and that pip-boy, you punch a button and the whole world goes black and disappears!"  ?
