It's 3am and I can't fall back asleep so I went out to look for off-brand Frosted Flakes or something funny and found this instead.

Individuals are not better than someone else solely based on some superficial characteristic.

So you and the alqaeda are only different based on superficial characteristics? Lol

I think it's a cute word and still relevant. It's also fun to say if you pronounce it right, something about flicking that L out.

Anyway, words only have as much power as you give them, if it bothers you it has power over you, same as any other word.

the fuck are you talking about?

The main cognitive shortcoming I'm seeing in the last few posts is the belief that loud voices = majority opinion, and that anyone without a loud voice to rally to on the internet must be the minority.  The truth is, there are a lot more silent folks than loud ones with cults of personality to like and subscribe to their rhetoric.  We can't say with any certainty what side the silent mass falls on, and that's my point - you can't claim the loud voices are a majority when the actual majority isn't making their voices heard one way or another.  The more absurd and outlandish the claim from the loud voice, the more likely they're just a loud idiot with a few thousand followers and not an actual representative of the majority opinion (see: pro-child abuse nutjobs; "white genocide" posts, "cis must die", etc).

I agree entirely that there are problematic (loathe though I am to use the term, it does fit the best) people in the LGBT+ community who are saying some truly insane shit.  I think it's important to recognize and try to curb the extremists, but you can't let those extremists blind you to the actual purpose of the movement, nor should you let them get in the way.

Remember: Though there will always be exceptions on an individual level, a group of people has a tendency to be more moderate than the loudest voices speaking for them.

I should just shrug off the entire thread.

There are already users who's post buried away and ignored in the big mist of something what this thread turned out I guess ?

Those post are already answered the point and the question of the thread, so I not see a lot of point of the whole discussion anymore.

So to my input, I actually went to the one in my country and it was pretty chill and uneventful, weirdest thing were the haters actually and their effort to make trouble, but aside of that nothing really.

Honestly, we marched once and pretty much chilled and talked, so it was barely different to me then any similar events. ?

This should provide an interesting, more scientific look into these issues (on a broader scale).

Be warned, Paglia is a force of nature and so is Peterson. This is one hell of a discussion on high level, diving from the current cultural issues we are facing, literally all the way back into Roman times (not the font).

Straight people don't exist. We're all bisexual. Ask any Greek philosopher and they will tell you there are only two genders top and bottom.

You make it sound pleasant. If you are going to tell someone to do something unpleasant tell them to choke on barbed wire or something.

Pride used to be about celebrating the victories of the LGBT community, like the Stonewall Riot in the US, for example. But now it's just turned into a big joke imo. It's turned into a us v.s. them mentality. Queer straight people (ex: very feminine men) exist but people act like they don't and that they aren't allowed to be proud of who they are just b/c they're heterosexual. Being GNC as a straight person seems way more difficult than being GNC as a gay person, since being GNC in gay communities is celebrated, while being GNC in cishet spaces is often frowned upon and seen as nonexistent. Anyway, as a bisexual, I enjoy being in spaces with other bisexuals, but it's not for the pride aspect. It's for the being able to relate to people aspect. I never got the whole division thing. It's just regressive honestly. Pride could be a good thing if it didn't turn into such a shit show. I think pride should be for EVERYONE to normalize being LGBT. Making it only for LGBT people puts us on a pedestal and it's dumb. I feel like a big reason it's so popular is so companies can profit off it. I also think it's because young people want so badly to have some sort of self identity, so they cling to a LGBT label because it's all they know and they make it out to be way more important that it really is because of that.
