While that fixed that issue, my build completely collapsed, had to scrap it. This guide\list didn't help me get it right. I got halfway through the "Armor" section and the game crashed on startup, repeatedly. I've given up, all mods have been removed.

If I remember correctly some of the armours require the physics stuff to be installed first, chances are that was why the crashes with the armour, and the physics stuff is much lower in the guide from what I remember.  I think there are also patches much lower in the guide for some of the armours as well which could also be an issue with crashes depending on just what they fix/patch.

I kinda figured you weren't "in-country", how about after, any service at all?

No, but not for a lack of trying.  Tried 3 branches in 3 years, rejected 3 time for 3 different reasons.  I even appealed to the U.S. Surgeon General at the time...no joy.

Varithina, you know about about FG and bodyslides and all that  - I have vanilla clothing mods...uniforms and stuff...I want to convert to FG.  Can you point me to a good, detailed tutorial that can teach a bonehead like me?

Graf's Guide to Fallout 4 Outfit Conversions

Also this thread is a good resource, some things you want to use with FG may already be converted:

Ack, conversions are always something I have issues with doing myself, sometimes the work just fine, other times they either instantly ctd the game, or do so when trying to equip stuff, in the end I gave up trying and just ask people who do them to do them for me, though for the most part everything I use is available with both cbbe and fusion girl conversions available, either from here or from nexus, though I think a few are on Schaken as well.

It's probably beyond my talents anyway.  One question I have about the list I was never quite clear on. and that is sorting the right pane.  If I add a mod, is it critical where in the list it goes, or just that it's there.  I know some things have to load before other things, like a master file before a patch, but if I added, say, SS2 and some addons, would it matter where in the list it appeared?

Any idea which mod in the list is adding a very high-level Mister Gutsy at the Robotics Disposal Ground? I can't find any mention of it appearing in a vanilla game and it's there every single playthrough in mine, even at level 1.

Ninja edit: Leaving this in case someone else finds it. Commonwealth Wilderness Overhaul. Out the fucking window that thing goes.

Just  a clarification on the MO2 pane thingy:

The left pane is used as the install order for all your mods.

The right pane is the plugin order.

That said the gist is that the order in which you install and or move things around in either pane controls the order in which the game reads them. For example because of falling in love with certain face presets I have multiple eyes textures installed. They are however ordered in such a way that the lowest mod installed overwrites the rest of them, leading to getting to use the unique eye texture (IE named differently) along with the regular ones(IE generic named). Also of note not all mods have plugins, but they certainly need to be placed in an order that make sense globally to the engine (IE entirety of the plugin load order). For this I use the Wyre Bash which allows me to visually determine / confirm which mod plugins need to be loaded  before / after other mods. This order is NOT self evident from mod authors as so many of them work in an " my mod works for me" instead of the approach of will my mod work with most popular mod lists. Don't give up on it , as someone with over 900 active mods, and adding or subtracting them all the time, I will say the hard work is very rewarding to watch yourself standup the game in your own personal version.

You're gonna be missing out on lots of lovely (robot remains) loot. And its easy* enough to deal with at level 1, its lease range is only just outside the fence

(* easy for values which requires 1: not being seen by it, 2: knowing how to get a silenced sniper rifle at level 1, 3: getting enough .308 to kill it)

Oh, I've killed it numerous times--sometimes by distance, sometimes by somehow sneaking in, activating the Sentry Bot and letting them duke it out. But I play on survival and it's a massive artificial difficulty hike that I can gladly do without.

So ages back, someone posted a question about blocky low res shadows on the player body. I didn't know the answer back then, not having had that problem.
Note the back then.
I just started a new game, and, yup, low res blocky shadows.
Possible solution:
In fallout4prefs.ini, under [Display] check the following values:
uiOrthoShadowFilter (if set to 1, try setting to 3)
uiShadowFilter (if set to 1, try setting to 3)
IShadowMapResolution (if set to a low number in the hundreds, try uping it to 4096 or higher)
Blocky shadows gone.
Now to figure out whats been messing with my ini files.

Have you ever run across a problem where, usually on female NPCs with bare arms, there's a black patch?

I don't think I've encountered that. Got an example screenshot?

Yes I believe it was due to a mismatch of resolutions. It's been so long since I've seen it after fixing things. Make sure you use all the recommended patches, if your not using "just" standard FG skin. For example, I use the FSM extreme skins, and I have found I am not having any issues. Good luck, and keep plugging away.

Good news! FO4 London is out, now.

Bad news (for those of us that are using FO4 NG): GOG GOTY edition or downgraded steam version required.

Tagging in @Aylis incase she needs a break from Skyrim mod list updates.

So advice from the first couple of hours of playing:
Don't wear the Gog tshirt and shorts, that was a constant CTD at one point for me.
Don't be smart like me and make a talky build. Just go melee or unarmed. Guns and ammo are rare.

@0omut0 Thanks king!

Other note: my issue with the cursor being placed oddly in third person view was due to the provided INI files. While digging around in them I also saw that there is an entry specifically for Radeon cards. That's probably been messing me up quite a lot, as I'm on a GTX. Moral of the story is to check the settings carefully in those files.

Does it matter what version of ENB I use ?  I downgraded to use this mod list .

Thank in advance, Tom

Just finished watching Fallout on Amazon ,so I need to play now lol

ENB is an engine, that you can customize or use a mod ( someone else's customization). As such the only things that change are the newer implementations of effects that occur within the engine. Thus after downloading and installing the ENBseries MOD, you would then pick a mod that tweaks the settings to your desired look( again I am more interested in gameplay , so I just took the REACTOR mod as the look I wanted.)

TLDR: most mods are compatible with the latest edition of ENBseries.
