I actually did try this just recently.  Technically it DOES work.  Fine print:  Since the most recent (years ago) update to VOWL Starlight stuff is mostly non-functional.  TV/Projector stuff works well enough, but the Starlight vids of old are mostly non-compatible for the big screen.  Starlight and small screen holotapes are both different/not interchangeable.  I did get some of the OG base SPECIAL vids to play - there was a little bit of display funkyness though.  I don't think ANY of the more lewd vids work for the big screen (none that I found anyway).

 

So try if you like, but it didn't really work as expected in my attempt.  Stick to the small screens, and you'll be less disappointed.

I've been using You And What Army 2 in my current playthrough. The Minuteman outposts I've visited so far (less than half) haven't been problematic and seem to fit in fine, although a couple of them might be messing with random encounter spawns (I haven't seen a random encounter on the Bunker Hill bridge since the nearby Minuteman outpost appearred, for example). Also the appearance of outposts is tied to Minuteman quests, not to claiming settlements, so dispite having only 5 settlements (Sanctuary, Abernathy, Ten Pines, Red Rocket and the Castle), Minutemen are spread all over the map. So a bit immersion breaking. Doesn't mean I won't be using it next run, though.

I wonder if thats some mod conflict. I tried VOWL  a couple oif years back and Starlight was mostly fine. Even found a decent selection of videos here on LL that worked fine on the large screen. There where more for the small screen though.
More concerning (for me at least) was that for reasons, every video pack used a ESP slot and couldn't be ESLified. And I'm always short of ESP slots.

You may have used VOWL with the previous version, before it got overhauled and required all the tapes/reels to be remade.  I'm sure the selection was much better then...I know when I was playing around and looking for stuff, a lot of what I found wasn't updated for the newer version.  It could also be that you were just better at finding them than I was, or happier with what you did find.  :)

 

Again, it WAS functional, but more limited than what I was expecting.  So the Starlight aspect of VOWL was more of a disappointment for me.  But it's all a matter of if it does what each user wants it to do.  Ask your loadorder if Starlight is right for you.  :)

So back at it again.

 

Had three separate setups for the weapons. None worked as i hoped they would. As i always had 'exploded weapons' or the game simply crashed. Now i toned down the replacers and the next run hopefully works... (at least no crashes before the menu appears)

 

I'll also take a look at Bethesdas new update and try to get around its problems.

I'm thinking about disabling the weapon replacer mods. Think I can keep a current save or will I need to start a new? Also, I seem to be missing some lights from the workshop. Primarily, the ones included in Better High Tech Lights. Bug, or am I looking for them in the wrong place?

Personally I would go new game, far too many scripts and level list changes for my liking, and far too many things could go wrong with simply removing them and hoping, even using one of the save game cleaners.

Thank you, @Varithina.Any idea what might be causing items not appearing in the workshop menu? Just some of the basic lamps (floor & ceiling, minus V's which are...meh) and lights and things from the base game aren't there. I enjoy building so things like that are sorely missed. I've really been tempted to throw Homemaker or USO in there but I have a feeling those mods were some of the reason my old mod list tanked and I came here.

Two weapon sets later:

looks like the weapons are fine 'til the NPC, that uses it, dies. Then they 'explode'...

 

LO doesn't seem to be the issue as atm its the doublebarrelled shotgun again. And i can't put a vanilla weapon lower in the LO.

 

Next attempt...

Nightmare avoided... Several weapons decided to cause zero damage. One of the patches for TR screwed everything up.

Next two attempts failed. When i managed to fix one vanilla weapon another one breaks.

Going the opposite route now. New meshes and replacing every weapon with issues.

Found a way to improve the LOD and the FPS at the same time. Drops below 60 FPS are rare.

'Rebuild' got updated into a single AIO. It is now ready for the older and the newest version of FO4.

The mod BT SPR - Sniper Rifle doesn't work for us as a replacer. As the hunting rifle is quite common you get many of them, but you can sell them for a lot of caps which is imbalancing in the begining. 

 

Testing the 'Remington Model 700' now.

Probably a stupid question - Is ZeX-ZBG  supposed to be randomizing NPC bodies in game? If so, I'm not seeing it. I was under the assumption that bodygen data was included and as long as I am building morphs, it should happen. But I'm still a novice at all this.

It should, but there are empty plugins associated with the male (BT) and female (FG) BodyGen configs which have to be enabled, so you might want to double-check those.

 

Also, hopefully it goes without saying, but LooksMenu (which supplies the BodyGen framework) does not work with the recent game updates yet. If you upgraded to the latest version of Fallout 4, youll need to downgrade for now to get LooksMenu/BodyGen working.

I've been using it in my most recent playthrough, and while it doesn't seem to have fixed all the invisible dead bodies (thats probably my fault for installing it mid playthrough), its certainly reduced the number of them.

 

The author was inconsistent about updating the version on Nexus, you'll currently find the latest version here on LL instead:

 

 

Edit: Oh, scratch that, they did remember to update the copy on Nexus last time. For some strange reason the description page still says the current version is 1.2 but the file page has it as 1.35. So same version on both sites at the moment.

Will the guide update be for a downgraded Fallout 4 instead of the NG version since so many mods still need to be updated?

Atm the guide will stick to the old version. The update causes quite a few issues and some mods arn't ready for it.

 

I'll add links for a rollback and update protection.

My old HDD died last week, thankfully i could replace it with a bigger NVME for my games and now have all on one drive.

 

The downgrade of Fallout 4 to version 1.10.1630 worked flawlessly.

I'm not seeing any empty plug-ins to enable for this. Do the configs generate automatically after running bodyslide? If so, I'm not getting them but BS is definitely working. 

 

I'm still running the pre-next-gen version so I'm good.

The toggle plugins ZeX ZBG installs for enabling/disabling BodyGen configs are named ZeX-BodyGen-F.esp and ZeX-BodyGen-M.esp.

Nope, should be perfectly safe since they have no new forms (they're completely empty plugins). The way BodyGen works, it scans the directories under Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\BodyGen and then checks to see whether there's a plugin whose complete filename matches the directory name exactly. If that plugin exists and is enabled, then BodyGen tries to load whatever configuration it finds in that directory. So basically, those empty plugins are just convenient on/off switches for the corresponding configuration files.
