That does sound like a loadorder issue. Are you using the new rebuilt AIO thingy? If so, try moving the Rebuild_Settlements_Previs.esp to the bottom of your loadorder and see if that worked.

Sounds like a plan.  I'll let you know.

You're describing the common symptoms of a previs conflict, yes. The way I usually handle that is to use Better Console to figure out exactly which cell I'm in, then load up all my enabled plugins in FO4Edit/zEdit and find that same cell's record. Look at all the plugins which are altering it and see if any are lowering or clearing the previs timestamp field. Then I play around a bit with making my mod manager reorder those plugins, usually putting the one with the highest previs timestamp after all the others. Sometimes it takes a bit of fiddling to get it right, and occasionally I end up with a nasty enough conflict that the only solutions are to either merge their cell edits in the CK or, more likely, just stop using whichever of those mods I like the least.

If you identify a mod conflict that's unresolveable through load order adjustments, it also may be courteous to notify the respective mod authors in case one of them wants to make a compatibility patch.

Ah, now you're explaining in words I can understand!  Thanks tons!

Probably not the right place for this sort of thing, but you all are so awesome. Everything has been going so well (40hrs or so) and after this crash log error, I've been getting the infinite loading screen -

Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" at 0x7FF992940805 d3d11.dll+0130805

I googled it and results are less than helpful.
No recent changes made to mods, etc.

No update to gpu driver.

I've tried updating the driver and turning off "automatic download for manufacturers' apps and custom icons..." in device installation settings (as recommended in Windows support topics).

Has anyone seen this one before? I' love to get back to building my epic Starlight Diner.

Assuming you're using Buffout 4 (which already fixes lots of common crash bugs), take the crashlog it generates and analyze it with CLASSIC. It may suggest things you can try, or may be able to even pinpoint what bug/mod caused the crash.

Thanks for the recommended utility. Didn't know about CLASSIC. I got it to startup again (not sure how really lol). Looking at my Event Viewer, everything seems to point at an error I've experienced before that doesn't trigger a Buffout 4 log-

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: bcb34dda-ac44-4530-94ba-61e64fdfebf5

Done a lot of searching on this one and reinstalled Win as well. Even reinstalled ENB, etc thinking it may have been its .dll causing the prob. Also tried rolling back GPU drivers. Still happening. The dll error seems to be unsolvable in most things I've read.

I've got an RTX 4060 if that helps.

I am a HUGE fan of the mod "FO4 DLC Project X" and its add-on for Dogmeat. Can I "inject" that mod into this install order somewhere? And, if so, which "section" would I do that in? "Quests" or whichever section deals with new items\locations\quests\scripts, etc... ?

I'm doing the build right now, so a prompt answer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for this guide as well, it's my first try at it, hope it works.

I'm in the process to install everything anew as the system drive died on me (possibly 'cause of my previously broken PSU that caused crashes). Sadly that happened one day before the new bigger one arrrived. Just my typical kind of luck...

Anyway, not single a HDD anymore and the new Corsair PSU offers a lot more power and is quiet. Now i have to completely reinstall Cyberpunk 2077 (just finished re-modding that one), Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Spoiler

What exactly does it do?

It does quests, it has new armor and weapons, new starting items in the vault before going outside, upgraded stats. To tell the truth, I haven't been able to complete any mod build to get to find out how it all turns out with that mod in the game. It's a DLC mod, seems to me it should be in the game already, but what do I know. It's a Creation Club mod, they're not supposed to work in a modded game, but this one does, well, it has so far. I installed it into my game and then copied the plugins to an outside folder, I've had it ever since. I can install it like a regular mod now.

I keep installing mods I shouldn't be installing, my most recent failure was because "Nuka Ride" isn't compatible with the SS2 mod set, had to start over again. I'm going to try Fusion Girl instead of CBBE\3BBB this time around, I couldn't get the animations to look right, the bodies weren't aligning properly during sex.

That brings me to this new (to me) modding guide, I've been trying to use the Steam FO4 modding guide, but that thing is a waste of time if you want AAF in your game. No female body setup instructions either. I'm a VN Vet, I've got some long-standing PTSD issues, as a result my memory is not what it could be, I need lists like this to work from because my memory won't let me remember some stuff from day to day. We are talking about over 450 mods, that's a lot for my brain to hold on to.

The one thing I don't have is detailed instructions on how to install "FO4 DLC Project X", if it even needs 'em. No load order placement, no requirements, it doesn't have any BodySlide files either. A little clipping going on with the outfits.

First, in case you never heard the words 40 years ago - Welcome Back.  If you're a VN vet you're not a lot older than I am, so let's talk Boomer to Boomer.

Easiest point first - you won't find a lot of bodyslides with CC content because the people who do the conversions would have to have that particular mod themselves.  We bought Skyrim, Todd fucked it up.  We bought Fallout 4, Todd fucked it up  Give Todd more money?  Um....no.

Three reasons why most players don't bother with CC Content.

1.  With few exceptions, there's no paid CC content you can't find a free equivalent for.  The only exception from the old CC stuff I can think of is Coffee and Donuts Workshop.  (My Minutemen need the USO...)

2.  Once they're released, that's it.  No support, no updates, no chance.  No one knows who authored what, so who do  you contact when it goes tits up?

3.  There is ZERO guarantee the CC content from one version of the game engine will work on another.  If this Project X is from Creation Club then it's most likely something NextGen which won't work on this list anyway, not without problems.

So without a lot of boring details, stay away from CC content.  It's not worth your frustration.  If you want quest mods, I'll name 5 good free ones off the top of my head if you like.  (I'm one of these people who prefer playing the game rather than looking at it so I don't invest a lot of time in texture or scenery mods.  Quests, on the other hand....)

Nuka Ride - I've never played it but I can tell you this.  If it uses AAF, 8 times out of 10 the animations need Fusion Girl.  Thats the animators' preference.  Nuka Ride is a weird one.  It makes so many changes to so many things it becomes it's own game.  So you can play Nuka Ride, or Fallout but they really don't mix.  Don't get me wrong, I've heard a lot of good stuff about it but it's an "instead of", not "as well as" when it comes to game play.

With regard to AAF - read their mod's page carefully.  They'll tell you if you use CBBE, use Discrete Female Skeletons.  CBBE and Zed apparently don't play well together.  Took me a while to work that one out too, since "RTFM" was lost on me years ago.

Finally - this list.  There are 11 seperate modlists on Wabbajack, and a few on Nexus.  Tried them all.  And all of them frustrated the hell out of me.  "Join our Discord for support!" they say - then treat you like a leper when you ask a basic question.  Do yourself a favor.  Stick to this list.  A, because there's support and B, Aylis changes it up every so often when something weird and wonderful comes to her attention.  She even considers suggestions, the angel.  She took one of mine - Girl's Workshop - and it's still there after, what, 2 years I think?  Moral of the story, stay with this list, it's the best of the bunch.

HEY! Thanks for hooking up with me. "Boomer to boomer", I like that, I had fun squeezing that clacker hooked up to claymores or C-4, big-time booms! LOL! The 90mm recoilless was fun too. Bunker busting son of a bitch that one, the beehive rounds worked VERY well.

FO4: I'm still using the .163 version of FO4, I haven't gone to the Next-Gen game yet. I let mods catch up for a while first. I'm not using any paid-for CC mods, only the free ones I could find. I've had "FO4 DLC Project X" mods for a while now, it's been in my many failed builds for a couple of years now. I've been trying to mod up FO4 for a VERY long time now. I just 6 months ago finally figured out how to get CBBE 3BBB to actually work with BodyTalk 3, ZeX 6.0, DFS and the rest, had it looking DAMN good too! But those bodies just wouldn't line up right in the sex anims. I'll be using FG this time around. I'm still really confused about the load order thing too. Yes, "Read The Fucking Manual" was a hard lesson for me as well.

Nuka Ride: Well, this one just looks like fun, fun, fun to me. I played the hell out of FO4 in the past, I needed something new in the game. Still haven't figured it out yet, I'm confused about the start of it, I'll work it out eventually. Gotta get it to work right first.

Oh yes, you are correct. My visits to Discord were not very pleasant either. I don't use sites like those, I don't pay for mods either, I've run into too many broken ones. This list was linked to me from "Bluegunk", a friend of mine on LL. I was using the Steam guide, but it's a disaster, it just doesn't work, no body instructions either. I'll be sticking with this list, it looks a lot better.

Can I use you again for any future questions?

Any time.  Tell you what, you want to change up the game a bit, Grab "Outcasts and Remnants" and "Depravity - A Harmless Bit of Fun."  The only reason for Outcasts is that it provides things Depravity uses.  Here's what's nice about Depravity:  In the vanilla game you usually follow the same path to the same goal.  Concord, to Sanctuary, to Diamond City, etc. etc.  Depravity takes you to the same goals but on a more circuitous route.  Rather than go from A to B to C, this mod will take you from A, send you over here, then over there, to B, lots of side quests you can take or leave, and on to C.  It's a great alternative to the early levels.  If you want one for the late levels, grab Project Valkyrie.  Both mods grant stuff, followers, and gives you the chance to make a few morally questionable decisions rather than just a "good guy".  Throw in a couple of AAF mods like Human Resources or Just Business to add a few things to your settlements.  We'll keep you right, my friend.  Not to worry.

By the way, I was never in country, far too young, but I was old enough to follow it on the news as it happened.  When were you there?

"73-74", there were... special circumstances with my voluntary enlistment (no draft at this point in time). I grew up with it on my TV from 1963 to 1973, Bay of Pigs, Kennedy assassination, Walter Cronkite and all. That kinda thing has an effect on people.

I have to respond the way I was instructed, "I am not at liberty to discuss that", my security rating is "**Secret**" as of 2017. I ETS'd in "78", honorable all the way. E-4\Spec. 4, 11 "Bushbeater" (Infantry)\63 Charlie (Tracked Vehicle Mechanic). Platoon Mechanic, I kept all of our APC's up and running, M113a1's. I've tried to get a copy of my 201 file since my discharge, not a chance, until I requested it from my State Senator. My file is almost two inches thick (I saw it... briefly), I got 11 pages. So... um... ? That's about all I can say about it. They offered me 10,000 dollars and automatic E-6 to stay in, um... no thanks.

FO4: I'm at the end of the "Textures" section on the modding list. I'm inserting some LL NSFW texture mods, magazines, billboards, that type of thing. I'll be doing the FG body stuff next, that'll be a first, I've already been using BodyTalk 3, so I know it works. Hope the install order is correct.

Then I won't ask further, I get it.

Texture mods:  I am LOADED with "free" textures - those that don't use .ESP or .ESL.  Word of advice - if it's something small, go 1k if possible.  Unless you're using binos, you won't notice.  For big things I go 2k for everything I can, saves my framerate.

I just had a discussion about 1K vs. 2K vs. 4K and so on... with "Bluegunk", he suggested the same thing. Of course, that was after I had already installed multiple mods at 4K, it's 2K from now on. I have seen mods as high as 16K, not quite sure why people make those they're not usable in a modded game according to him. Pics maybe. I've never tried to run 16K mods.

"free" textures abound in that modding guide\list, I have a surprisingly few amount of plugins to keep track of in MO2 using it. By this time, I would have to be going into xEdit and making some of 'em "light" mods using an FO4Edit trick "Bluegunk" taught me. You know about that, right?

Were you Infantry too?

Posted

The only way I know how to ESLify something in xEdit is by using a Rudy script.  As for textures themselves, I swear most people who put up huge graphics have Nasa-spec rigs.  I just use 1920x1080, I'm happy with that, so anything over 2k is just overkill.  For small things like books, or magazine covers I go 1k because really, unless you're being a Screen Archer, you never zoom in close enough to tell the difference.

Was I infantry?  No.  I was too young.  I was 13 in '74.  I had a brother who was, though.  Never came home.

The Ruddy script is one I use for quick ESLifying stuff, but there are other ways; Wyre Bash will let you flag things as ESL, and xEdit can even renumber and compact plugins if they have few enough records in them.

Textures wise, I went 4k for everything, originally. And more recently 4K for body and clothes, 2k for everything else.
For loose textures, I posted this wall of text a couple of months back:

And still stand by it. To many loose textures can be a problem.

I kinda figured you weren't "in-country", how about after, any service at all?

FO4: I've run into a problem. My PC looks ok in the game... so far, she is fresh out of the cryo-unit. However, before starting a new game I ran BodySlide and got this...

Clearly, I've done something wrong. I have not completed the build, far from it. I am in the "Armor" section, I thought that would be ok for a test run. I did want to go into the game to see if was working, I have to get Blaze to the pip-boy before the clothes can come off. I need to see her naked to find out if that is broken or not.

Any input is welcome.

I didn't have the right folder assigned to BodySlide, that's fixed. I have run into an issue with something called a "BoomBug". I've never seen one of these creatures before and I haven't seen it now either! The damned thing is INVISIBLE!!! 2 of 'em killed Blaze in about 10 seconds after she stepped through the doorway to the vault-door area. She killed 4 Radroaches and those "BoomBugs" took her right out! V.A.T.S. wouldn't lock on to 'em, bullets didn't hit 'em, baton couldn't find the mark either.

I think it's the "Mutant Menagerie" mods that are doing this, but I'm not sure. You know anything about this at all?

I'm having female body "physics" issues too, I've done something wrong.

Boom Bugs are Mutant Menagerie. I had fun with that mod, but gave it up because way to many new, and kinda pointless, recipes, and in places, having to cycle through way to many MM mobs in VATS just to find the actual target I wanted to shoot.

Do you happen to use Immersive Hunting Overhaul? Theres a bug with invisible Boom Bugs caused by the IHO MM patch and the latest version of MM.

Posted

Howdy. No, no Immersive Hunting Overhaul, but those invisible Boom Bugs are deadly. Took out my PC quick! Right now, my FO4 is crashing when I try to exit to the main menu, every single time I exit. There might be something going on with a "Heather Casdin" Fusion Girl V2 Patch. I don't think I installed it right.

The problem is I really can't read those crash logs, might as well be Chinese. 15 years of failure to mod FO4 is getting very, very old.

Posted

It looks like I might have it fixed, I forgot to install all of the "Heather Casdin" mods, I missed the "BodySlide" mod, didn't think I needed it for FG. Live and learn, right?

For the bodyslide it is not too uncommon for the original cbbe bodyslide files to be required as a lot of fusion girl conversions, only overwrite certain parts of it.
