Fallout IV for Beginners - V3.2.9 (Outdated)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I was asking in regards to game version . The newest binaries are ok to use with a downgraded game . Don't need an answer now , I've moved on because I can't get the appropriate version on UF4P thanks to the authors policies . I'll check back here if Aylis chooses to revamp this list later. Take care.

From what I understand , the binaries interact with the game , thats to say they interject in certain proccesses to provide the effects that it does. Which in this case are visual .

TLDR . idc cheers

ZeX-ZBG

?'Bodytalk3' and 'ZeX-BodyGen' can be flagged as ESL

ZeX-ZBG Modified

@alyis

the link leads to no download , is the modified file the only one needed ?

You don't need ZEX-ZBG. If you want in-game sliders for FG and BT you need to download ZEX-Ingame sliders mod. Search for it in forum.

And if you want full AAF nsfw support, follow this manual -

If something like this happens just ignore the presets and use my predone bodyslides. The preset may be gone (and i'm not allowed to reupload them) but the created results can.

Dang it , alright .  Thanks for the reply . Appreciate the list , I've used your lists for years and years on and off as a guide to mod off of .  Was never smart enough to back the results up though .

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on a mod build based on Aylis' guide and wanted to share my notes to assist the community, troubleshoot issues together and possibly help Aylis in updating this guide while she works on Skyrim. Please note that this is my second attempt at creating a Fallout mod build, I have limited experience and plenty of questions. I can't promise thorough testing of every single mod on my list nor can I guarantee that there won’t be any conflicts. But I will resolve issues as they come up and this is where I really rely on the community's knowledge and assistance.

Regardless, I believe my notes will be valuable for anyone looking for a well-modded Fallout 4 by autumn 2024. This build is for pre next-gen game version 1.10.163. Most mods are compatible with this version, and I personally prefer it because it's time-tested. Now, to get started, simply follow Aylis’ guide, keeping my notes in mind.

Legend:

■ Mandatory

■ Configuration required

■ Optional

■ Notes

■ Skipped

VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT VERSION OF FILES COMPATIBLE WITH GAME VERSION 1.10.163. BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL WITH MODS FROM THE F4SE CATEGORY OR FRAMEWORKS, AS INCOMPATIBILITY CAN AND WILL LEAD TO CRASHES AND BROKEN MODS!

Preparation:

Downgrade your Fallout version - follow instructions here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3232095313

F4SE:

Baka ScrapHeap - Script Memory Limit Expander

Change ScrapHeapMult to 4 in BakaScrapHeap.toml (right click on the installed mod in MO2 and select "Open in explorer")

Source - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3115

Foundation:

Subgroup: Start Me up

If you prefer the vanilla start without using alternate start mods, create a clean save just before leaving the vault and then load it with the modded game.

UltraLOD Feather

The file is unavailable and I don't know if there are any replacements.

Subgroup: Fallout 4 HD Overhaul

I personally downloaded the 2K overhaul instead of 4K version for better performance. I believe 2k will be more than enough, as most important details will be enhanced with additional texture mods. I personally just don't want to have a blurry environment while my character is engaged in some intimate acts, and the 2K Overhaul is the perfect solution for that.

Also, I replaced all 15 texture files directly in my Fallout game folder instead of installing them in MO2. I believe it will be more reliable and allows you to save an extra 10 GB of your disk space, which you can use for more important mods, like lewd outfits and absolutely inappropriate texture replacements~

Download the 2K Overhaul here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/65720

Luxor's Green Cedar Branches HD

Another Pine Forest Mod

(Optional) Another Pine Tree Forest Performance Textures

(Optional) FO4 HD Overhaul Pine Forest Redone LOD Patch

A Forest

A Forest - Pine Trees Redone Patch

True Grass

A Forest True Grass Compatibility Patch

Autumnal Grass Overhaul

(Optional) Lily Pads and pond scum remover

Skipped these mods because the idea of constant green Wasteland ruins the ambience for me. However, a very promising alternative called "Seasons Change" is on my to-do list for later - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/76710

Subgroup: Fallout 4 HD Plants Overhaul

Luxor's Rocks Moss

Another replacement that fits the list.

UI:

Workshop Framework

Download the OLD GEN replacers as well

Satellite World Map

Install it before Fall UI Map to have the colored version of map. I recommend the 8K resolution.

Colorful HUD Preset for Fall UI

Base colorful preset for additional adjustments, install it after other Fall UI files.

Subgroup: Vault Girl Perks

There are many additional NSFW perks on the mod author's page - https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/HonestAndrew07/mods?gameId=1151

Install at your discretion.

So far, so good! I'll be working on textures next.

I also have a question that I can't quite figure out: why there are no Buffout NG, SUP F4SE, SPID, Crash logs, or other essential core mods included? I believe they are required for any decent build.

I'm glad to see the list coming back to life.  I know Aylis is pulled in many directions, so her attentions are obviously elsewhere..  As to your question...Buffout NG, I believe, is specifically for post 1.10.163, as I believe are the rest.  As for Crash logs, that's one I hadn't heard of.  I do know if you add too many core mods they tend to stop playing nice with each other, so it's a case of what's actually needed to support the list, and the rest is superfluous.

Hi. From what I understand, Buffout NG and SUP F4SE are tools that fix issues in the game engine, with Buffout NG also providing crash logs. SPID is a feature that assigns perks from different mods to NPCs. All of them were originally created for version 1.10.163, so I don’t see why we can’t use them in our build. However, someone who uses them regularly might have better insights.

As for the guide, I've just finished collecting links and now have over 100 texture mods to look through. Anyone else who wants to help update the guide is welcome! 🙂

Cool beans , I've spent the last 2 weeks using this as a base to make my LO perfect . I won't bother sharing as somethings I dropped because I don't care for . I.e. a green commonwealth or jiggly boobs . Very happy with my play threw so far. Backing it up as it'll likely be my last mod order ever for this game. Also keeping an eye on the skyrim modlist as I'll use it as a base when it's a little more worked threw . Big thanks and appreciation to @Aylis as I would have been overwhelmed hadn't been for this very list , despite it being in the shape it is in .

Here's the thing though...and stop if I'm wrong...there's still an issue with NewGen.  From what I undestand if you modify the appearance of NPCs, you get massive FPS drops in weird places.  Why, I've no idea.  Beth did it so Beth can fix it - if they ever get off their asses.  It cropped up in the first update, still there in the second.

It's looking more and more like this list might have to be redone in places after all.  The direct link isn't there, and discord is empty, referring to the Institute Expeditionary Suits FG bodyslide, as well as the Courser Strigida. Those and other links vanishing it might be worth thinking about.

If you dont want to use pre done body slides , then cbbe is the path. Thats what I ended up doing anyhow

Not sure if this is the problem you're thinking of:  but if you update things like skin textures/face textures, make sure you only install archived versions (not loose files).  With Skyrim, you can have everything installed as loose files, and everything is cool.  But with Fallout, it really doesn't like loose files at all.  It REALLY chokes hard when it comes to loading files each time an NPC is loaded, so it becomes a stutter fest each time one shows up on the horizon.

So make sure your face texture/makeup type mods are all archived, not loose files.  Took me a while to solve that problem for myself.

I hadn't thought that was even a possibility, thanks!
