[SOLVED]New Game and NPC's Stuck in Place - Vanilla & LAL

Recommended Posts

I know this is initially a stupid sounding topic, there ARE forums all over the place talking about these issues, but I can't seem to word my particular issue correctly in google to find the answer I need.  So although I'm probably just highly ignorant to what my true issue is, I'm requesting help to figure it out.

The Problem:

I've been using Vortex as my mod manager recently and it's served me pretty well so far.  I've tried using MO but the moment I started to use it I got so lost.  I'm just a filthy casual to modding and the simplicity of NMM and Vortex is right up my alley.  The reason I'm posting this HERE rather than another forum is because I think my NSFW ventures might have something to do with it?  I started out Vortex with a nice selection of NSFW mods and everything worked out perfectly.  Absolutely no major issues, or anything I couldn't find a fix for easily.  But recently I've been wanting to go back to a normal skyrim playthrough, without the sexy bits, so I decided to make another profile on Vortex and went through the motions.  But something must have gone wrong along the way because, although nothing is wrong in the NSFW profile, npc's do not move at all in the normal one.  I started a new game (admittedly with all 43 mods, even heavy ones, installed like a dumbass) and it loaded up all fine... until the carriages to Helgen just weren't moving at all.  I'm well aware the intro has it's issues and the moment I realized I'd made the mod mistake, I exited the game, disabled all the mods, just in case, and started the game up again.  Same issue.  I went looking and found a couple mod options that might help, but alas, nothing.  And as I mentioned above, I can't seem to give google the right combination of words to give me the answers I need for my specific issue.  I wanted to do a vanilla start, but I caved and decided the closest option through Live Another LIfe was good enough.  Started camping out in the woods, only to zoom out and (as a Khajit character) my tail is sticking straight out.  Not exactly an issue for me as I play first person anyway and I could still move, so I wasn't too bothered.  Until I went to Helgen to activate the quest there... and Alduin was still on the ground, not about to move from his spot.  Admittedly, I haven't checked any other places, but considering this is probably why the carriages aren't moving in the vanilla intro, due to horses not moving, I'm making the assumption it's the exact same problem.  I have a feeling that something lingering from my NSFW profile (which was the only profile I had since I got Vortex until now) might be affecting it.  Which is why I'm posting here instead of someplace else.  As a casual modder I'm definitely pretty ignorant to what I could possibly do to fix this, or even diagnose where the issue is coming from.  This is what I've gathered so far.  I did go back to the NSFW profile to see if there were issues there now, and everything is pristine.  It's just the normal profile.  I haven't tried a fresh install of skyrim for fear of this happening again if I go back to the NSFW profile again.

I thank and appreciate anyone who is willing to help me with this!  I know I'm probably wildly waving my noob flag lol  Also, if modlists are needed, I'm not sure how to provide them without literally typing everything out?  I'm happy to provide if it's needed, however.  I'm just not sure if there's an easier way.  Some of you have some nasty long modlists so I can't imagine you're typing all those out by hand!

If you feel you have problem with Vortex then why not ask on the Vortex support forum?

If you go back to your original profile does it still work?

Are you saying the carriage does not move?

I didn't say it was a Vortex issue, I honestly don't think Vortex is the issue, although I could be wrong.  My theory is possibly some mod files from the NSFW mods might be affecting the normal profile, but I don't know enough about any of this to say that with any certainty.  That's just what my first guess would be based on what I do know and have researched.

Going back to the original profile everything is fine, yes.  Since it's loaded with mods from LoversLab specifically, I'm asking here instead of other places.  If it's not an issue with a mod from here, then I'll take this elsewhere but if it's from here... it's a bit awkward going elsewhere just to say "yeah i've got all these SEX MODS" just to find out it has no affect in any way, shape, or form.

Technically, no one moves aside from breathing.  I got in far enough for Ralof to speak, and he does turn to the player to do so.  I quit pretty quickly after that, thinking I'd find a solution pretty quickly, so I honestly don't remember if his mouth moves or if anything else happens.  I can find out if that's important.

Persevere with MO2. I used to use NMM (vortex's predesessor) and since I made the switch to MO2 I'll never look back. Admittedly it isn't as straightforward but nothing about modding skyrim is straightforward either.

I know what NMM is, I mentioned it in the original post lol, I'm not *new* to modding, I'm just a casual.  But I did try it and like I said, I got so confused, I couldn't even figure out how to add a single mod.  Why would it be that complicated???  If I had someone next to me walking me through it who knew what they were talking about, I could learn it, but as of right now, I'm not at all interested in switching.  I'm not *that* desperate to play Skyrim lol.  Thanks though.

Right.

The sex mods are just mods with sexual content, they are not made any differently from any other mod. Vortex, on the other hand, is still in beta and therefore quite likely to have lots of issues which have yet to be resolved. Given that the mods work in one profile but not in another suggests to me that the problem lies with Vortex. We will see.

When you say not moving, do you mean stuck in T-pose? Or do they just stand there idling? If it's T-pose, have you tried running FNIS?

Have you tried creating another profile with a different mod combo?

FYI - To get a load order.

In LOOT click on the 3 vertical dots and select the 'copy load order' entry. (Or whatever it is called)

Save it as a text file (just for your own convenience/use).

Come here and either use the 'eye' icon (two to the left of the emoji icon) and paste the load order text (not the txt file), or

type [ spoiler ] without the spaces. Hit return and paste the load order text. Hit return and type [ /spoiler ] without the spaces but with the forward slash.

To post and image (jpg) drag it to the paperclip there at the bottom left. Images can and should be put in spoiler tags too.

I'm aware, but I'd rather not encounter the people are are going to have an issue with some of the content if they ask for mod lists.  That's my only issue with the sexual mods.  People are still people no matter where they are.  But you're right, it certainly could be Vortex and I just don't know how to identify the issue.  I appreciate your trying to help regardless!

Idling!  That's the accurate term.  I did actually try FNIS and the issue persisted.  FNIS didn't recognize any actual animations, however.

I'll make a third profile and see about experimenting with it.  That's a good idea.  I'll update with whatever I find out.

I have NO familiarity with Vortex. However, your problem sounds like what happens when you fail to include some of the many skse plug-ins and other support mods. If Vortex does not automatically move those when you start a new profile you may want to make sure you have them. In point of fact, I would go so far as to suggest you might want to look at Donttouchmethere's blog in order to make certain that you have everything you need for your profile.

Vortex can be in beta but works good. I have 4 profiles and no problem. NMM never exit beta status.

Seems that you have T-Pose and is caused by FNIS. Read this post:

They're not actually T-Posing, they're just idling.  Apologies for not specifying that.  Just forgot it was a term lol  As far as that post, I have run FNIS previously just to be sure and it didn't recognize any animations in any of the mods I'm using.

I have everything regarding SKSE enabled and running the game through SKSE rather than the game itself.  The first profile works perfectly fine, everything is as it should be.  It's the second profile that I'm having sudden issues.

Not claiming anything but do you have all the other things like "Jcontainers, etc." that I alluded to by referring you to DTMTs blog?

This is LL. If the mods came from here then nobody here will say anything.

Post your FNIS output. That's the text that appears when you run FNIS - starts with the Skyrim path and ends with the number of animations. It's just a simple copy and paste here using the spoiler tags.

Have you installed FNIS as a mod inside Vortex?  How you run FNIS??? automatic?? manually???

Vortex run FNIS automatically by default and each profile have their own "FNIS Data"

All the profiles share all the mods and all the tools.  You must install Fnis as any other mod for have Fnis available in any profile and you must activate FNIS in the new profile and run FNIS from the new profile for you have a new mod called "FNIS Data" and of course, you must have the mod called "FNIS Data" enabled.

Aditionally, each profile in Vortex have their own FNIS Configuration:

If your creatures not move and the kajith have static tails is because you miss enable FNIS Creature Pack 6.1

If you not want have FNIS Creatures, because is a normal profile whitout sex mods, you must enable FNIS Creature Pack, launch FNIS manually, press the button "Remove Creature Animations", generate fnis and, after all that, disable FNIS Creature Pack.

Found the issue.  Really wish I'd just thought to do some more digging instead of assuming I had all the information I needed.  Turned out humanoids were fine, it was a creature issue.  So googling THAT gave me the answer of just reinstalling the FNIS creature pack.  Everything is good again.  That stupidly simple.  I sincerely apologize for possibly wasting everyones time but I truly am thankful for the help you've all offered.
