Recommended Posts

Testing atm:

Skyrim HD SE I-III (Impact on performance and loading times - but incredibly beautiful)

Terrain LOD redone (Just WOW. Definitely a keeper)

Casual Bow Animation (So much better. Must have for any archer)

Elven Blades - Elven Sword and Greatsword Model Replacers (Some will love it - others hate it. Optional file)

SSE Parallax Shader Fix (BETA) (Not now. Might be later VERY useful.)

Arctic - Frost Effects Redux (Nope. Not worth the slot.)

KS Hairdos - HDT SMP (Physics) (Works. With surprisingly little clipping (bow/quiver)).

Dunno if you saw yet, but Lanterns of Skyrim got a sequel, Lanterns of Skyrim II. Been testing it out myself, and has been working pretty well so far.

I saw it. Imho he's overdoing it a bit. Every hold got its own lanterns. OK. But did he replace the lanters in houses and dungeons too? I might take another look later on, but it is not very high on my priority list.

Reworked some of the descriptions in the list a bit.

Yes, there is an options for redone lights in dungeons and towns. If you look at the installation options of the FOMOD, there's Tamriel Master Lights. Been testing it out myself so far, and it looks good. Was also going to recommened stronger swimming, but you beat me to that one too. Also for your consideration: JS Shrine of the Divines SE

Also just finished going through the list with all your recent updates. There's a few entries that need attention:

textures

clutter texture pack  - mia from the Nexus
dustpiles HD             - mia from the Nexus
Hanging Moss HD    - mia from the Nexus

override

shezrie's hearthfire   - mia from the Nexus

weather and lighting
a quality world map - luminosity compatibility patch - pointing to luminosity page. Patch has its own page.

OK. will check that out (and update the list and possibly post #1428). (Done)

clutter texture pack                                     - Will be deleted. Skyrim HD SE almost completely covered it anyway. Rest was only 'nice to have'. (Done)

Dustpiles HD                                               - Got replaced by another mod from the author. Will update the link. (Fixed)

Hanging Moss HD                                      - Looks like it got replaced by Rally's Hanging Moss. Will update the link too. (Fixed)

Shezrie's Hearthfire                                     - Needs some digging... Thankfully its not a critical mod. (Marked in the list)

Luminosity Patch                                         - Got it (Quote: This patch was originally uploaded to the Luminosity page). (Fixed)

If you had the patch before it doesn't need to be replaced (just update the link).

Checking out:

Stronger Swimming Animation SE     (Smooth animations and a good addition. Will be added)

DynDOLOD FXGlow Disabler             (Doesn't seem to be needed. DynDOLODs update may have covered/fixed this)

Reduced Glow FX SE                          (Fixes a visual bug. Will be added)

JS Shrine of the Divines SE                (Good suggestion. Will be added)

JK's Warmaiden's                               (Now this is what i call a store! Will be added)

JK's Belethor's General Goods                                            ''

JK's Arcadia's Cauldron                                                       ''

Reduced Glow:

Spoiler

This has always looked wrong to me.

Standard - Reduced - Removed

Site is acting up - can't do updates to the list atm. Will try again later.

This list is now in a state that i'm happy with. For now there's almost nothing for the visuals i want to improve on ('til JK is adding more shops ;)).

Skyland - Solitude

Skyland - Winterhold

Looking for (and eliminating) hidden bugs.

Checking LoS II, All geared up, and Wearable Lanterns.

If you have a suggestion for additional mods don't hesitate to give me a link. I'll take a good look at it and it might end up in the list.

Aumriel - The Pale Lady (NPC and Creatures)

So if I wanted to add a follower mod like the one you mentioned, should I place it with the npc mods or the creatures mods since you mentioned both? And is there anything else I would need to take note of?

Posted

@armyswat11

You found something i got to rework a bit. That mod belongs in the group 'Creatures'.

Followers would be 'NPC'.

I have split the two later to get a better sorting.

O.o

I just noticed that i started this thread almost exactly a year ago. Much has changed over this time... Like the newly added HDT-SMP (never thought i'd ever get HDT to work), the new 3BBB (kudos to the creator) and all the other small and big things.

A big 'Thank you' also to the ones that contributed to the thread, pointed out errors (there were one... or two... or *cough* ?) or helped in other ways.

So it is party time...

Hello, first thanks for this excellent guide, I almost got it to work on my first try. However I seem to have an issue with one of the mods I installed. The MNC mod causes the game to crash even before it ever starts up. All indication of startup is that my steam will briefly show that I am trying to start up Skyrim. By disabling some mods step by step I have singled out the MNC mod and other mods related to it to be at fault. Is that something some of you guys have encountered?

Posted

@KhajiitHasSex

MNC can be a bit sensitive sometimes. But a crash before even the first starting menue is often a missing/outdated mod or one for Oldrim.

1. Recheck that you didn't accidently downloaded one from Oldrim.

2. Make sure you got all requirements (especially the group 'SKSE')

3. Use version 'MoreNastyCritters_v12_03'

If that doesn't help, then:

4. Try an older version of MNC.

5. Try adding 'Creature Framework'

@Aylis

All Geared Up is fantastic. Blows Favorited Gear out of the water and is super easy to set up. I absolutely love it.

@KhajiitHasSex

MNC is very script-heavy. If you check Papyrus logs MNC is basically doing something on every other line. On my old PC it would cause crashes before I updated to a beefier machine. Only thing I've encountered related to what you're describing.

A. Good to know. Maybe i get to check it tomorrow for myself. :)

B. Yes, thats a factor too. @KhajiitHasSex give us some system specs to be on the safe side.

how much smp take fps ?

With this setup i didn't notice a loss of FPS - so maybe 1-2 FPS. Skyrim HD SE on the other hand was immediately noticable.

Alright, I did some more testing, first I am using both MNC and the HentaiCreature mod, is that correct? Also it only seems to crash on startup if I enable those AND sexlab defeat. If Sexlab defeat is not enabled I can enable both MNC and HentaiCreatures without a crash happening. For specs I have 32 GB ram, AMD Ryzen 7 with 8 cores and 3GHz and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. I also have not generated anything for SLAL as I assume that has to be done ingame. Do you know if there is some way to get logs from Papyrus? Since Skyrim logs are not being generated before it crashes.

Posted

@KhajiitHasSex

That system should be more than able to handle everything in the list (Ryzen ?).

SLAL is done via MCM in the game.

The HentaiCreature mod is not in the list. ;) That might be the culprit...

Posted

That was indeed the case, MNC works with Defeat after disabling that, however, I see that Sexlab_Dialogues are also causing it to crash on startup, however if it is disabled everything works. Btw thanks for the help :D

Started to rework the first posts. Hopefully the switch of a lot of the pics from PNG to JPG will speed up the loading time (or is that just my connection?).

Thankfully i don't have to replace all screenshots as most were done with the textures and ENB we use now.

Teaser for the next update to 'Obsidian Weathers'

We'll be very close (i've got some additional mods) to that look.

Finding an alternative for 'Joy of Perspective' isn't easy. I found quite a few armors that would be perfect but they don't have a patch for JoP.

Thank you so much for putting this list together!

I'm using MO2 for the first time for this new modding adventure.  I'm finding that most (80-85% if I had to guess) of the mods in your list, when I go to install them, requires changing which folder is the data folder (shown when clicking Manual in the install dialog).

After reaching the ~116th mod, I thought to ask, is this normal?  Or do I need to start over?  ?

(Edit) To clarify: Right click > Install > Manual > "No game data on top level"

then I navigate to the appropriate data folder, set data directory, and it says looks good.

Posted

@matrxhasyou

If you select 'manual' thats normal. How about choosing 'OK' instead of 'Manual'? ;)

There are only a few mods where you have to select the data-folder. Thats usually when an OA made a mistake when packing his files.
