I updated this mod and chose the slots that DD uses.ย  However, as I progressed in the game I ran Resaver and it said all my saves were corrupted since installing the update.ย  I'm starting a new save and hopefully I don't get the same issue.

Be careful with Resaver, you can absolutely kill your saves with it, especially with the "cleanup" functions.


Did you have any problems in the actual game before running resaver?

Love the mod, it is one of my must have mods. I'm nitpicking here but OP in this thread needs a slight edit.

The "devious devices slot" installer option uses slot 37/38 for handcuffs, just like DD wrist cuffs. While this is in very much compatible with DD, it collides with a lot of armor/clothing. For this reason I am using the "standard slot" option myself (and I suspect others are in the same boat).

I changed the "standard slot" installer option to use slot 58 instead of slot 54 because that is more compatible with devious devices - 54 collides with DD chastity belts. So the purpose of the slot change was indeed to improve compatibility with devious devices. I then made this the default option because it leads to a better experience: The handcuffs will no longer collide with DD chastity belts, and they will also no longer collide with armor/clothing.

The goal is NOT to allow wearing handcuffs with DD cuffs or armbiners. If you install the DD compatibility plugin, the handcuffs will gain the DD_kw_ItemType_WristCuffs keyword in addition to my own keywords, even if using slot 58, and because of that devious devices should refuse to equip armbinders or wrist cuffs if you are already wearing handcuffs.

Just a fyi after I updated to this newer version of Real Handcuffs. Crime and Punishment link is to a no longer on nexus. I do believe he does have one on here but since I don't use it anymore. I don't really know.ย

Thank you. I did it without detailed understanding of the game engine, so today I would definitively do things differently. It works how I did it, too, but the script load is sometimes a bit high..

Sorry if already asked but what is the recommended upgrade for a save already using Real Handcuffs to 4.15? Should I make sure all my handcuffs/collars are unequipped or will it just swap the armor slot automatically?

In theory just upgrading should work. Make sure to make a dedicated save before upgrading, and check if things are still ok after upgrading. Also just the handcuffs changed armor slot, the collars are not changed.

AAF is an esm, RH is an esp.ย  You can't put RH above AAF. Unless you're using some kind of garbage mod manager.

Real Handcuffs and AAF both provide convenience copies of the LLFP library. You can uncheck it on RH's FOMOD installer menu to avoid the file conflict between them, or just pick an arbitrary one to overwrite the other. It doesn't really matter if you're using the latest versions of both mods, since they carry roughly equivalent versions of LLFP (for all intents and purposes).

Exactly, they should be the same. LLFP is required for RealHandcuffs, so the installer adds it by default. If you already have a recent version of LLFP, e.g. by using AAF, then you can just uncheck the LLFP option in the RealHandcuffs installer.

What do I need to do if the handcuffs are invisible (animations and effects still work)? Fresh install, and yes, it is part of a modlist so obviously not your problem for sure, but general ideas for me to trouble shoot what's what would be helpful and kind.

Check if the handcuffs themselves (the armor item) somehow gets unequipped, maybe by another mod that "forces" something into the same slot. My mod tries to prevent that but if the other mod tries hard enough it still might happen.

Install the latest version of my mod, it might fix the issue. If you are using DD, try both install options (use DD slot, keep original slot).

Handcuffs work as intended but collars are invisible. They don't appear in my inventory but i can still hear the beeping sound. Any idea what could be causing this?

Edit: My character head will also explode if i go too far away lol

Sounds like you're using a mod which has put a collar on you. Is it Commonwealth Slavers? Raider Pet? Something else? It's possible you're looking at the wrong collar mod.

I have Raider Pet, Hardship and Violate but aren't they supported? The same thing happen with both Violate and Hardship the collar is invisible but whenever they use handcuffs everything is fine.

I attached my load order just in case. Everything AAF related is at the bottom(except ESL/ESM).

You said "i can still hear the beeping sound" and "My character head will also explode if i go too far away" which sounds a lot like you had a collar put on you by Raider Pet (those aren't aspects of other mods you mentioned anyway). If so, then be aware that the collar Raider Pet puts on you isn't from Real Handcuffs, it uses a collar from Devious Devices. I'd guess that you simply haven't installed DD, because if RP can't find the DD collar to put on you it just doesn't put a collar on you at all but still plays the periodic beeping effect and eventually kills you if you don't satisfy its expectations.
