I ran into this too, think I bruteforced it and then on another hand not following the guard super close seemed to work

As near as I can tell it's a vanilla issue.  Stairs confuse the AI, so they pause at the top to try and figure out pathing.

I seem to remember that at one point I actually edited that particular guard to make him walk faster and that seemed to help.  He wouldn't stutter so much on the steps.  It was a small adjustment, maybe 10%?

(Just a bit of feedback, probable spoilers for anyone who didn't finish the story quests)

Spoiler

Last night I finished my playthrough of the mod's story quests (on AE), from the beginning. I can't remember what the earlier quests were like too well (from when I played them before), but I did feel more included and cared for, than what I did the last time I played them. I'm not sure how many changes were made to the dialogue & scenes though, so I guess it could just be my mood too; the later quests also had me feel this way, I really liked Kata's force greet at one point, to ask if I was alright.

For the new quests, I thought the writing was really good and the pacing was spot-on. In particular, Laura's emotions and reactions had so much depth and I liked how Sona's role was expanded. Jade is a really interesting character, too and I liked the ripostes from her, even from Sloan, since they made their characters more nuanced. The 'puzzle' elements were similarly challenging to the original quests (in terms of having to use one's noggin' instead of just relying on quest markers). There was one point that I was wandering around with a torch (that I cheat-added to the game) for about 10 minutes going "WTF?" and it was when Hinde said something in the dialogue about where she put the door key and for some reason I zoned out and couldn't remember it, so I was looking everywhere except at eye level ??

I didn't have any bugs, or pathing issues and didn't even need to use wait, so whatever was done to the pathing, it worked really well (at least, it did on my build). I was super impressed when the guard navigated 3 (I think it was 3) sets of stairs without one spot of ghosting ? (In my mod, they often ghost just walking around a chair). I did a few 'unexpected' things too (like I run out of lockpicks mid-quest during blending in) and it was handled seamlessly.

The most frustrating parts were 1. in the (embershard?) mine and 2. in the cave's tavern (the 2nd visit). It wasn't because of the quest design, as such, but because I set my screen really dark and for parts of these quests I couldn't use a torch, so running back and forth looking for items in a black screen was rather tedious. I don't know if that was partly intended, but I'd have definitely been thankful for a few more strategically placed sconces.

My favourite parts were 1. blending in (this quest is honestly a model, the main model, for my own work, it's so good! The puzzle element is so well-designed and it hits all the right 'kink' notes for me), 2. Jade's parts grew on me and even though I was bemused at first, now I quite like them, 3. all the dialogues in the shop, it really feels like a place with real people, it's like a real 'home'.

About the author's message, wow, I have no idea what to say, but at least I wanted to acknowledge what you wrote. I guess it makes a lot of sense of the mod's direction and I find it kind of..., moving, it's emotional, to think of my character, & every person playing this role in the shop, accompanying Laura & Kata on this 'journey', so I really do hope it helps you. I included a pic, ..just because ?

Thank you for all your hard work with the mod, it was great timing with the release too! Happy New Year ?

I can't speak to the interaction with UD, as you'd know better about that than I, but I think the main issue with this particular block of code is the double use of Laura_ToughLeatherBallGagInventory, when the second one should have been Laura_ToughLeatherBallGagRendered. Passing the Inventory device rather than the Rendered device causes the UnlockDevice call to fail. The UnlockDevice call for the Blindfold uses the correct parameters, as can be clearly seen.

@Laura, there are several instances of this same error, all for the Tough Leather Ball Gag, across 3 different files. They are found in: Laura_SQ08_QuestScript.psc, Laura_SQ10_QuestScript.psc and Laura_STC_QuestDeviceScript.psc.

Expand

Good catch. I'll change it.

Thanks, and just in case you don't notice it, there are also a couple of the same instances with the Tough Leather Ring Gag in the _STC_ file.

SSE - Adrialatia in LBS - S19 - 2023-01-01.jpg

Blending In was probably the best part of the mod, it gave you a lot of choice too and like you said accounted for you fucking things up which I really appreciate. It was great to revisit the cave and finish that plotline too. The pet play part was something I hadn't seen in other mods and was really well done. If I was gonna give any "negative" feedback, I'd say that the quests where you're investigating the other girls kind of fell flat. Dynane was a cool character, but the quest was just "give me her key" and then fight through a bandit camp to get a letter. Felt like there could've been more - like maybe your character falls into a trap and Dynane rescues you is what I was expecting.

One very tiny thing also was that your full PC name is in the ledge book in "Blending In" and then Jade uses a different name for you a lot later. Seems like giving your real PC name anyway was a bad idea (if you're a famous Dragonborn!), but a small inconsistency I guess.

The player name can be put in written form, notes and books, without problem, but no way to speak it, so not in dialogs.

The problem is that Bethesda didn't include a method for including the character's name in dialog, because there was no way at the time that it could be voiced.  We might see it in future games using AI synthesized voices (like modders have been doing with voice packs), but in a 10 year old game the tech just wasn't there.

Are NPC's supposed to follow you into the Shop? Just had a thought that it might be one of my mods that blocks NPC's from entering certain cells, Hendraheim and the shop I noticed, followers wont follow me in

Sometimes followers will come into the shop with you, sometimes they won't.  It's kinda random.

Hendraheim is a bug.  All of the CC homes have it, no telling if followers will enter them or not.

I figured it out, the Master NPC wouldnt enter the shop to continue the questline, Used the PRID and Moveto commands to force him inside and I just finished the quest!

Laura, if you see this, one go check the community tab on the patreon, Second thanks for finishing the mod. Was a lot of fun to finally finish up the story and I cant wait to see what you have planned for 23. The message from the author was sweet, and I'm happy you found an outlet for your past

Like I said, look forward to what you have in store for us for 23, happy new year!

Strange.  I wonder if the CC bug isn't bleeding over somehow.  Definitely sounds like an AE problem.

I completed the story yesterday, and everything other then the flashback scene was loads of fun, except for the Ivarstead clues which were incredibly vague.

Spoiler

My favourite part is the part where you have Evelynn's collar equipped and want to serve your master as Evelynn. I love stuff like item/spirit possession and things like this!
I just wish you could've kept the collar (and the rest of the Evelynn items) after the story was finished! (I used Additemmenu to get them back! XD!)

I did have to use the console a few times to add the things I needed to progress since I couldn't pick stuff up in the armbinder/straitjacket, and the fact that I don't want to downgrade from the DD Beta. (Which would make my private and mandatory mod useless, since I have tons of stuff in that.)

Spoiler

As for the message at the end, I am genuinely worried about what happened to you, Laura.
I seriously hope that you're doing all right after that horrible experience, and have a good supporting network to help you manage what you've been through!

I enjoyed the flashback scene, it gave you a perspective of how cruel Sloane can be through manipulation and how slavery can be. But yeah, since it was a flashback, I felt no danger or agency. I think it'd be something good to potentially skip as an option since it is the memories of someone else.

Didn't have any major mod issues in SE, other than a CTD that was caused by myself. If you're getting crashes when equiping Iron Prisoner Chains, rebuild your Bodyslide chains without HDT. I enjoyed the entire story, it was really fun playing through the entire thing again. Some notes from today:

Spoiler

Had a weird bug where only my character's head was on the floor in Origins, and the headless body with stretched neck was just standing there. Funny to look at. image.jpeg.da4b1530c7d627526d29df3bdd3b20fb.jpeg
27 is hillarious. Hope we see more of her in the future.
I found it funny how the Master literally faded away in game.
Nice use of the Thotium, turned what I thought was a throwaway into a key item.
They just left the husband's body there until it turned into a skeleton. LOL
Very satisfying bodyslamming Sloane into the ground.

Like others I had a bit of trouble in Ivarstead.

Spoiler

There is a letter in the closest door on the left, far end table. Be careful not to steal it.

Spoiler

Once you find the letter in the inn, check under the bridge closest to the inn.

Spoiler

Then follow the river north until you find the next journal.

Spoiler

The waterfall is a bit more north. Qucksave before jumping down!

The quest should've started before you use the totem.

So you didn't get the quest started message? Does the quest show in your quest journal?

Also, please post the papyrus log.

it can be updated from "Laura's Bondage Shop v3.32 SSE Alpha Test Version - fixes by aurreth" to "Laura's Bondage Shop v3.41 SE version - By aurreth"?

if it can, there is need for 'clean save' or 'new save' or just replace it?

As long as you don't have an active LBS quest you can just update the mod.  So, if you finished all the content in 3.32, just remove that one, install 3.41, and pick up the new quest.  You probably want to be outside the shop before you update.

What you are trying to avoid is upgrading while a quest and its associated scripts are running.  Between quests you can update and it won't hurt anything.

What I do is make sure I'm out of the shop, save and exit the game.  Uninstall the old version, install the new one (I use Vortex, MO2 is probably the same process).  Go back into the game, enter the shop and carry on.  I've yet to encounter a problem.

Also if you are using any of my weird little mods, appearance changes or Whiterun patches, those carry over just fine.  You may have to make sure they are loaded after the new version; Vortex in particular makes me tell it every time I upgrade that the appearance changes come after the main mod.

Ideally you should finish the current quest and not start the next one before switching to the new version.  You don't want to change scripts mid-run.

Hmm ... I wonder if that might be the reason Sloane's husband isn't showing in VR. I was mid quest when I updated

Um yeah, that would probably do it.  There are significant changes in the Origin scripts between 3.32, 3.32 Alpha Test, and 3.4x.  The original version placed and moved NPCs using a method that worked in LE, but broke in all kinds of ways in SE.  That's what the Alpha Test was, me working out what the problem was.

So yes, if you change scripts mid-run there's likely to be a lot of confusion over which script is placing which NPC where.  In this case the new version of the mod is placing Darius in the NPC staging cell, but the old script doesn't know to retrieve him from there.  He will never appear.  You'd have to hunt down his PRID and manually move him to the house.  That's likely to happen for other NPCs as well, particularly Doran.  Although Kata will probably work because she's always staged at the shop.

Edit: Unfortunately, it's doing the same thing as before. Player is forced to AI control, Doran walks right up beside me, then nothing.

But thanks for trying!

I've only just started the new update (fresh save because Skyrim threw a tantrum and broke on me again) so I've only done the first quest and the side ones, but I noticed Kat and Laura's comments on being the best/worst/only shop in Whiterun (which is cool background flavour stuff, btw), and just wanted to highlight @naaitsab's "Elvira's Restrictive Fashion Shop". I'm not sure if you've seen it, but it's another (decidedly pinker) bondage shop mod next to Whiterun. With you already referring to the old Captured Dreams Shop and the Dollmaker I wasn't sure if you'd want some allusion to them too.

As I said, I haven't done much yet, but what I've seen of 3.4 has been cool so far, thanks again for all the hard work!

I've actually recommended Deviously Pink to a few people who were looking for a slightly different take on the bondage shop idea.  It has its merits, but it's been stalled at 0.3 for two years.  There is some recent forum activity which suggests work has started on it again.  I'd like to see it integrate some futa/femboy content, since it is so very PINK. ?  Would fit that niche nicely.

That being said, Laura referring to CD and the Dollmaker is an easter egg.  @Laura was a tester for CD, and came up with some of the original ideas for DCL before it decided to take a rather rapey turn.

It's somewhat sad that so many mods start out with great ideas, and then ruin them by forcing nonconsensual sex on the player.  Particularly in the case of DCL, which has great ideas and quests but couldn't resist baking rape scenes into the content in such a way that it doesn't respect its own rape toggle.

Yeah the next update is sort of ready to go. But I find it hard not to get working on other things. Like converting Devious Regulations to SE and creating a way to long fixlist for it ?

And my kink-list is longer than I sometimes want to admit but femboy type content is not really my cup of tea. So don't expect that.

Not really mine either, but there's a definite niche for it here and a lack of original content.

I'll definitely keep an eye on it though, would love to try out the new content.
