gregathit Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 You should be able to play all the C&C series except 4 without steam. I think you can play all of the red alert ones without it as well. ME1 doesn't require steam either, not if you have the disc version. ME3 requires origin, not steam.
FallenWarrior Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Are those the games you purchased from steam directly ?? I don't really trust on-line purchases much so i tend to go to the shop rather then buying online. But even from shops it still require steam go figures: Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 Skyrim New vegas Saints Row 3rd C&C series Not sure witch one some required steam others did not. I still had a few new games but can't remember what they are called. You should be able to play all the C&C series except 4 without steam. Best to avoid The First Decade collection though (Command & Conquer). EA fucked that one up real good, since you can't play any of the games in widescreen mode.

Glad I have my disc versions of each game still intact!
Commander Drag Queen Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 PC - Crysis 2 Max. Edition - Dead Space - Dead Space 3 - Mirror's Edge - Saints Row IV I still need to get Crysis 3, but I think I'll need to upgrade my CPU and power supply. Was the first 4 games from the humble bundle? The Humble Origin Bundle, yes. But Crysis 2, Dead Space, and Mirror's Edge can all be redeemed on steam. If it was just origin codes, I wouldn't have bought the bundle. And I haven't actually started playing Dead Space 3 yet, cause I figured I would replay the first two on PC first. From what I've heard, DS3 bumped its head and forgot that it wasn't Mass Effect 3 without the roleplay or the charming aspects. But hey, I figure that I might as well give it a try before I knock it.

Glad I have my disc versions of each game still intact! Yep, I bought it a few years ago just to get one game for free (buy 3 pay for 2). Still have the disc versions (except for C&C Generals and up) though.

Well, let us know what DS3 is like when you get around to it. No rush as I have so fucking many games that I haven't played yet it is getting ridiculous. Not to mention that Rome 2 is due out in a few weeks which will pretty much wipe out all my free time (and lots of hours of sleep I probably need) from September till Christmas. The little free time I have left will be spent modding. Maybe I'll just wait until DS3 goes on the Christmas steam sales or origin or whatever the hell way they sell it. Or.....just skip it. I really enjoyed DS1 and DS2 so I might have to replay those two as well. So many games.....so little free time.

windpl Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Recently among others PayDay 2 And I like it, not because its quality but because of it game peace. I really like how game speed climax in this game ;D You would mind defining it? It seemed to be very similar to the L4D series gameplay when it came to the pace of the action, in the few gameplay video's I've saw. To be fair, I've seen very little. It looks interesting, but I always found the pace of L4D to be too fast for me, for the game to be comfortable. But then again, it was a zombie game, and I really wanted it to be nice, slow, and suspenseful. For there to be a break inbetween the action and not just constant "go go go go go keep moving keep shooting" throughout the entire level. This is turning into a rant and I'm not meaning it to be one. XD I like the L4D series a lot, I just have my own personal wishes for it, hah. My point is, I'm honestly just curious as to the pace of PayDay 2. Since it's not a horror/zombie game, even a faster pace may still be quite fun. Well It all depends, most of missions you could try finish with stealth (but it will be hard with random teammates) so then it would be slow - but one mistakes and you are in overdrive mode Some missions are "go go go" style and some are like tower defence where you push back waves of enemies while doing your stuff and have small breaks between. And it had great music that fit the action, when I first played it I was like "holy shit!" I didn't liked payday(1) but second part is really fun, but it lack of variety, and mod(wepon mod) loot system is taken form ass.

Or.....just skip it. Or you could do what us cool kids do and pay your own price for the Humble Origin Bundle deal. DS3 you can get at any price you pay, but if you pay over $5, you can get Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 Starter Pack.

Nonsense667 Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I got the recent weekly humble bundle. Thomas was Alone = AMAZING. SO GOOD. Seriously. It's just rectangles, but they become characters you care about. It's awesome. McPixel = I played it for four minutes and then uninstalled. It makes my eyes and ears hurt. Botanicula = Awwwwwwwwwwww. It's adorable. The Showdown Effect = We will see once I play it.
Jerbsinator Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Apologies for being slightly off topic but is Dead Space 3 worth a shit? I loved 1 and 2 but didn't realize 3 was out yet. I don't like EA by any means but Dead Space 3 is fantastic! Definitely get it if it's on sale. The ability to make your own weapons is what extends the replay value, as well as a solid co-op implementation. I don't know about anyone else but the twist in the story for me was mind blowing and what made the game so good but really gameplay wise it is as good as all the other Dead Space games. Just be warned it is NOT scary anymore, the creepy atmosphere is still there but there is no scare factor it's just tons and tons of necromorphs thrown at you. Visceral did a great job on this game and it's a solid way to end the Dead Space trilogy....though I'm not so sure we have seen the last of Dead Space.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Just bought my PS Vita on Amazon. Also ordered the Vita version of Dragon's Crown.
HanPL Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 All games from this bundle http://www.humblebundle.com/weekly
LordJerle Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Picked up the new ninja turtles game on a whim about two hours ago. It's pretty good. Combat plays similar to the Arkham series, only with tweaks to accommodate the four turtles and their different fighting styles. It's on steam for 14.99, dunno who much on x-box live. Worth picking up for the price as something to play til they fix SR4 with the next ten patches.
windpl Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Got my Rome 2 pre order. Now I'm cuddling with it ;D

Guest Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I was thinking about buying XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Unfortunately I was too dumb to pick it up during Summer Sale and I haven't played a stategy game since Warcraft 3 so the question is: "Will I, a complete strategy noob, get enough enjoyment out of it to justify the 40 bucks?"
gregathit Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Wait for the next steam sale at Christmas and get it for 10 bucks or less.
Adam Jensen Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Picked up this. Can't wait for next friday.
