LordJerle Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 From what I've heard, the Wii U is a huge disappointment, even to Wii fans, and I'm still pissed that Nintendo stopped marketing good merchandise and started mass producing and marketing either enfranchised nonsense, or retools of the same thing that they've been releasing since the 64, or even the SNES, most of which I didn't care for the first time around.

Mario is so whored out that I wouldn't touch a game even if you paid me, while a new Metroid game would have to come with a free blow job from Fusion era Samus to even get me to enter the same room as a copy of it. Still waiting on that SMT x FE game to get released, localized and maybe even Let's Played before I even consider touching the Wii U. At this point, I think Nintendo should just let third parties have a crack at their franchises, since two of the best Zelda games were made by Capcom, the best Mario game was made by Square, Metroid couldn't do any worse, Star Fox could use ANY attention that isn't a port and I hear the best F Zero game was made by Sega.

Unfortunately I was too dumb to pick it up during Summer Sale and I haven't played a stategy game since Warcraft 3 so the question is: "Will I, a complete strategy noob, get enough enjoyment out of it to justify the 40 bucks?" There is actually an upcoming, large expansion for it. Although I personally can quite enthusiastically recommend the game, I might also recommend to hold off on a purchase. Unless you are wanting it right now, wait to see what deals might come out when they release the expansion. No promises that there actually will be any though. But hey, never know. They might throw the basic, non-expansion one on a humble bundle or something to promote it. Who knows.

During the Steam summer sale I bought Endless Space (and got a long overdue MOO2 fix), Max Payne 3 (meh), and Dishonored. Absoluted loved Dishonored.

It's a dissapointment (to me) in the sense that the Wii U has an utter shit library of games right now, most being games that are available on other platforms which you'll most likely get on your chosen platform and it's good games (Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, etc.) are coming out next year. I only have 3 games for my Wii U (2 if you don't count the game that comes with the console), ZombiU and Lego City Undercover. I've bought 2 games of late, Dragons' Dogma which I quite like and Resident Evil 6, which I was surprised to actually be good, considering I've heard from multiple sources to be shit, though to be fair, I haven't played any of the other Resident Evil games, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I'm only on floor two at the moment, but so far, it's been an amazing experience. Really fun, solid, "old-school" feeling game. Is it a replacement or competitor to modern rpgs like Skyrim or what-have-you? Nah. It's just something completely apart from them, and that's fine.

Was one game gifted to me as a surprise. Then, after install, I wasted about 4 hours 'fixing' it so I could play it w/o stuttering, video hang-ups, and so forth (the PC version). Had to actually MAKE a cache file, scour the net for a STABLE rageconfig.ini file (which ALSO had to be created), THEN put in a lengthy +youbastards_fixthisShit 1 +idLoserfix_dumbass4ever 1 +stupidLaunchOp_idiots 1 +WTFisThis_FukUfix 1 +POSgame_fknBethRetards 1 in the Launch Option to get MOST of it to smooth out. Pros: great visuals, didn't mind the graphic 'style'. Cons: FREAKIN' LOUSY CONSOLE PORT PIECE OF BLOODY SMEG! Can you NOT at least make it LOOK like you put some effort into porting this, you ID dipshits? The game also takes from 1 minute to 2:31 TO LOAD ZONES!!! InsertDeityHere forbid if you forgot to do something in one zone, then attempt to go BACK. THEN you're stuck at the Races you NEED to do in order to 'advance' the suck ass storyline when you need weapons for your vehicle, because at my age my Digit Dyslexia gave me severely cramped fingers trying to WASD and Shift to drive around a track 3 times to beat the time trial (if you didn't make a bridge jump, the 3rd person view doesn't snap back to your original view, so you're now stuck with an overhead shot of your vehicle to get back on course). I hope, Ark, that your dear, sweet friend doesn't come visit you carrying a VERY large axe to chop you in twain if she didn't get the console version. At least now I know why they came up with a name for this monstrosity like RAGE. My kind, gentle self would SHOVE THIS POS UP AN ID DEV'S ARSE WITHOUT LUBE! REPEATEDLY!!! Ahem. Sorry. Wrong thread to rant in. Fix Mal's game as atonement, Ark....IF she's going to play it on PC, that is.....
