Each DLC will be released as separate ESP. This is the reason why IVY's base mod was turned into an ESM, so I could make multiple add-ons for different DLC without users being forced to have all DLC.

Working hard on the Ivy Magazine Add-On.

Just finished my homework on the 59th vintage pornography magazine, making it so that this addon alone has over 500 lines of dialogue. Each and every magazine you find randomly in the commonwealth (and beyond) will trigger Ivy to speak about its background. During your journey and as you find more and more magazines, you will slowly learn about the entire history and background of most popular pornography magazines released between the 60's and the 80's. You'll learn about the most well known producers, the different common themes used in the magazines, and how they follow popular culture, and in such a way can give deep insight into the 'zeitgeist' of those time periods.

 

I know it sounds daft as fuck, and I know there is a reason why no-one with a scientific background has ever truly research pornography. But I think there's a lot we can learn about our culture by examining it. It's like.. a distilled version of all the stuff a culture represses, so by the absence of things you can guess what the culture was like at the time.

 

Having said all that, most of the stuff Ivy says is just funny, or hot, depending on what you find..

Setting this up was a monk's job.. adding scripts for each mag.. adding conditionals for each mag.. etc..etc..

But in the end it's worth it as I think it truly fits with Ivy to know these sorts of things.

I have a question about the auto navigation part of a companion, some times when the player moves the companion can not follow just behind the player and it can take a moment for the companion to catch up with the player.

 

a lot of times Ivy will say something that i can just barely hear and the CC does not show what she says and i miss out on the conversation 

 

is there a way to make the player ask 'what did you say' or 'can you please repeat what you just said' to make Ivy repeat herself???

There is a way, but it's nearly impossible as I'd need to keep track of the idle that she said before. Also as the engine now chooses randomly from a group, I'd have to add some sort of script to each sentence so I can keep track of which sentence she spoke. So yeah.. nearly impossible.

 

(Edit: I thought about this. And what I can do is simple. Not have Ivy say anything if she is simply too far away from the player. I'll look into that. Good suggestion, thanks!)

 

In any case..

Ivy's Porn Collector Magazines Add-On is finished!

72 Unique real vintage classical magazines featuring lots of real history about their creation and their contents. It was a fascinating journey that I tried to approach both with humor, but also with a scientific view on it. I wanted Ivy's comments to be worth something, indicating sometimes deeper things inside of both her, and behind the magazines, that you might not expect at first casual glance.

 

As final touch, I switched out the hard edits to vanilla leveled lists, with script injected ones. This makes it compatible with any other mods that change the leveled lists.

 

I need to make one thing very clear. These are 'perk mags'. You can't scroll through the pages of the mags, as that would be violating copyright laws. Magazine covers do not cover copyright laws, as they can be seen as promotional material, these can be added safely to the mod.

Most of these magazines can be found and bought online at specializes stores, or second hand (but.. cum stains.. yuck!)

 

The Porn Collector addon features 375 extra voiced lines for Ivy, once installed.

I'll be making some vids soon to share this work with you. :) (edit: done!)

Waiting patiently - you don't go halfway with anything you do, do you??

I have one request as you tweak her - as a notorious loot whore (hoarder??) in every game I play, I get the "do you like touching dead bodies?" a lot more than seems...well, Immersive.  Can we reduce the frequency a little?

I don't really play Fallout anymore. My idea of 'playing' fallout is basically modding it. :)

 

I can look into some more idles there. My idea was the same for her hacking routines and some other repetitive things she says. On the other hand.. I know many people in real life that are actually far more repetitive than Ivy is... which is weird thing to realize. I hope that by pointing this out to you, won't suddenly start noticing it and grow to come to see people as NPC's. :P

Development Update.

Went back into Ivy's base ESM once more. Added more conditionals to stop her from talking during scenes and on other logical points where she shouldn't speak. I've added some Story Manager events to her which makes Ivy or other NPC's interact with each other. I'm working on a dialogue library now to add content. This basically means that Ivy will interact more with her environment than before. She will speak to other NPC's, if I can find some proper way to reuse all the settler dialogue (I don't want to rip it, as it's a lot of voice files for a lot of different settlers, ideally the engine would literally point to the same wav file, but I'm not sure whether that's doable.

 

I gave Ivy a lot more idles for when the player loots corpses (request in the post above, read more on this below).

 

I'm also working on making Ivy interact with containers in the nearby area. When she finds something interesting, she will fetch it herself, then present it to the player when they speak to her. I'm still working on the mechanics there as I'm not sure how I want to implement it exactly.

 

If you have the magazine add-on installed, she will tell you when her scanners pick up a magazine in the area close by, but also when she loses it from her scanners (e.g. if you move out of range).

 

On animation integration

I STILL really want to implement some animations for interaction with the player. I've learned more about the engine, but still haven't gotten the hang on how to properly introduce new animations into the engine without depending on other frameworks. I am getting closer and closer as I learn more and more about the engine, packages, conditionals and scripting.

 

I am looking for hugging, kissing, erotic poses and romantic idle animations.

I hope there are some modding resources or animation sets that I can use to implement within Ivy so that, triggered from certain dialogue, romantic things might ensue. If someone can point my ignorant nose towards a link I would be very appreciative. Also links to proper tutorials are really welcome, so I can further my knowledge on how to implement custom animations for Ivy.

 

Below is my current brain/dump work list for the Base mod for Ivy... Anything on this list might or might not be added to the final release.

 

Things I still want that I am able to do for certain, or might decide against after having implemented and tested it:

- Ivy comments much more on the activities that the player does. Instead of generic comments, she makes specific ones like 'Hey nice handcuffs!', 'That police baton is just what I was looking for', 'Great version of Robco Fun!'..etc..etc..

- One or multiple base quests for Ivy in the ESM.

- One or multiple 'deeper' conversations with the player.

- Give Ivy 'negative' affinity, based on how the player treats her during conversations.

---- As a result > - Allow Ivy to kill the player under certain circumstances.

- Allow Ivy to interfere with certain vanilla quests when she suspects a trap. (E.g. the fake settler at Hardware town, Ivy just shoots her on sight, knowing that it's a trap).

- QUEST: Make Ivy actually hostile towards the Atom Cats, forcing the player to intervene and make her stand down in dialogue, or choose Ivy's side and kill the lot...

- QUEST: The player finds the farm house where Ivy shot the customer's father, after being caught having sex with her daughter in the barn. (I'd need another voice actress for that, to play the farmer's daughter. There's an extremely small, minuscule chance that I might be able to reuse vanilla dialogue or some other royalty free source).

 

Things I still want that I am likely able to do, or might decide against after having implemented and tested it:

- Ivy interacts more with the world and NPC's, e.g. she flirts with and teases NPC's, some are customers of hers, it will depend on the available common/shared dialogue.

- Ivy is tied/disabled by one of her kidnappers and the player needs to save her (e.g. just like a settler kidnapper quest, but Ivy is the target).
The NX controller holotape does not function as it cannot connect to the disabled unit. The player's vicinity triggers her reboot so she can join the fight and maker her way to the player from the inside of the dungeon.
- Ivy eats and drinks on certain times, Ivy gets tired after being awake for too long and demands the player she needs some rest.

- Ivy comments if the player eats, sleeps or drinks too little.

 

Things I still want that I am hopefully able to do, but might still prove difficult, or might decide against after having implemented and tested it:

- Find a way to have Ivy interject in Quests without overriding their base vanilla objects due to some kind of scripting injection (e.g. add dialogue to formlists or topiclists upon quest start, instead of overriding the actual dialogue).
- Disable Companion warping and replace it with Ivy's own internal teleport systems.

 

Things I want that are very hard, if not impossible, for me to do:

- Replace the regular follower and companion system is now using with a custom one, that allows for Ivy to travel with 1 extra companion.

- Ivy sometimes walks up to the player and kisses them.

- Player sits on chair and orders Ivy to do a sexy dance, or even lap dance.

- Player lies on bed to snuggle with Ivy while she tells erotic stories.

- Player walks hand in hand with Ivy.

- Ivy takes all kinds of poses for Player for photo shoots / screenshot mode.

- Ivy gets real bodily functions (e.g. she can go to the toilet).

 

IF ANY OF THESE IDEAS STAND OUT TO YOU. AND YOU CAN POINT ME TO KNOWLEDGE OR HELP THAT CAN HELP ME MAKE IT A REALITY > LET ME KNOW.

I previously posted here perhaps you could use Chic Geeks NX2C Sloot Suit as Ivy's default costume and have her own melee weapon (maybe the one in the loading screen baseball bat with saws)

The Sloot Suit will likely remain separate, as there's more in store there that Chic is working on for Ivy. I will not spoil anything, let's just say your wish might be granted in a better and different way than you might imagine...

 

I like the idea of her own melee weapon, I'll look into it.

Could you make Ivy give us Mutfruit pie after awhile, when we give mutfruit to her. Like her pussy juice. It always bothered me, since she says "I'll bake it for you later"

RSE's basic needs does this for all Normal NPCs:  Ivy gets real bodily functions (e.g. she can go to the toilet).

This mod is seriously out-of-this-world good. The voice acting is amazing and I don't think any other follower mod have felt this alive, I genuinly can't wait for DLC dialogues.

Keep up the good work, and massive props to Chicgeek for giving Ivy her voice.

DAAAAAAAMN! @Reginald_001 All that sounds amazing! I love the idea of being able to rescue Ivy, I've always been super protective of her when playing. I also like the idea of have "deeper" conversations with her and get to know her better. I almost always end a FO4  session with us sitting down and talking to her (Service menu and your thoughts ect) 

Ivy is literally the only thing that's kept me replaying FO4. I am very excited about your plans and updates Thank you and chicgeek so much for all your work

I'm notoriously bad for getting anything to work. I've tried some frameworks but most of them start crashing my system. I still have fourplay remnants active in my installation  somewhere that I can't even seem to disable without crashing my games. What I need is the ability to add custom animations into dialogue packages, so I can select them from the 'idle' anims option in a dialogue. I've tried it, but never got it to work. But I am slowly learning.

Thank you! Also keep an eye out for Malia, which is coming soonish as well, by @Flashy (JoeR) she will likely prove to be just as intricate, if not even more so. I hope she is the first of many intricate followers to come for Fallout 4, which is in my opinion very long from dead indeed!

I'm finally coming to a point where my modding skills are allowing me to do the things I initially wanted for Ivy. A lot of it is a real struggle to get right. Sometimes (often) I think I'm in over my head and it's a frustrating experience sometimes. But that ultimately makes it all the more rewarding when things start to work!

 

Development update

Just spent 12 LONG HOURS trying to get Ivy's custom warp system working, and to make her initial quest more easy for low level players. After a lot of frustration I decided to split my problems and focus on one thing at a time. After a lot of testing and trying to figure things out (and learning a lot in the process) I figured out how to make it so that when you are below level 8, you can redeem Ivy through a hidden locker somewhere inside Sanctuary. If you are level 8 or higher, you will have to travel to Medtek to find and redeem her.

 

After all that frustration I needed an hour or two of unbroken modding time so I went through all of Ivy's world idles and fixed any profanity filter that wasn't present before.

This also allowed me to further filter her dialogue based on affinity levels, making her more immersive. What this means in the game, is that like in real life, at first she will only say nice and flirty things, but as she gets to know you and learns to trust you, she will A) start to trust you to complain about certain things (e.g. the smell, the cold) and B) she will share her deeper thoughts with you.

 

I have also added additional filters to Ivy's erotic memory archives, making it so that not all erotic material opens when you meet her.
