Reginald_001 Posted April 1, 2019 Author Posted April 1, 2019 Did you follow all checks and procedures as described in the FAQ? e.g. Move Ivy down in your load order etc..etc.. I don't know many of these mods in your load order. So I have no clue which one is interfering with her operations. 1
Marosis Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Yep, she's lat in my load order, is it posible that dialogue overhaul/alternate start could mess with it?

Reginald_001 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Dev log for the day, short and sweet: Added another 100 idles for several different situations and locations, depending on Ivy's disposition at that moment. Full amount of dialog lines at this point 758 for the entire Nuka World addon. It might seem less than the 4k lines she has for vanilla, but Nuka is a lot smaller, less quests and less locations. This means that revisiting locations with Ivy, during several points of her discovery/background quests, will yield not only different results because of the randomness and the many idles she has, but also because of her disposition. The way it is now, I think another 2-3 weeks of tweaking and quest integration. Then I have to finish Ivy's Add-on called 'The museum of pornography' for which Chic Geek already did the audio. Then I will send the whole shebang to Chic for final voice acting and recording! 3
Im_The_Real_Deal Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I currently have a greyed out "Bring ivy mutfruit or bring ivy mutfruit" in my misc objectives. I can't give her any mutfruit. Is this a bug anyone else has experienced? It's a minor thing but a bit of an eyesore lol. Not sure if she will give the mutfruit quest again either as long as that's there. Can't say for sure. Time will tell I guess lol. P.S That Nuka World add on sounds awesome! I'm almost disappointed I already did Nuka World. Luckily I still got a new character planned that hasn't and won't until this update lol.

That should retrigger the quest at one point or another. You can also find the quest ID and reset the quest. 2

It's about 120 lines of memory with a heavy reverb added to the WAVS. Then another 80 lines of dialogue with the player that sound clean and usable. I think I can splice something together from those 80 lines tomorrow morning, for one of the Holo tape logs with Dr. Stein. The Other option would be to re-record ALL his lines with someone new. Quite possible with only 200 lines... Then you can have him say Anything, Anywhere you want.... Not too much work overall, although it might be more than splicing, it would also give you so many more options for interaction with Ivy/quests. Something to consider anyway. 1
Sevatt Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Hey Reg. Not sure what programs you use for recordings or processing them, but this may be of interest or an option for Kellogg: Audacity is free and easy to use, which utilizes the ERA-R plug in for tweaking sound files and such. ERA-R for reverb is about $60, but it may be worth it to make life easier, along with other ERA-R plugins. https://accusonus.com/lp/era-bundle-download-reverb-remover?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=YouTube&utm_campaign=YouTube_Description_Links&utm_content=REPAIR_ERA_R_Audacity There's a Pro license which does a whole slew of things though way costlier, but it's up to you if you need all that functionality. It seems like it's what you're looking for; which I assume is to remove the reverb or overhead speaker effect when Kellogg addresses the PC before their confrontation. Up to you if it's a viable option or not. Though I understand and respect your stance on patreons and such, I'm pretty damn sure (like, 100%) there are others like myself who wouldn't mind chipping in to help Ivy out, which you could use on further development to all our benefit. Just a thought. Like I said, zero clue if this helps, just throwing it out there in case there's a chance. Thanks for all your work. She's going to be awesome, I can hardly wait. 1

Reginald_001 Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 I wrote this in a PM but I wanted to share these thoughts with you guys. Kind of spoilerish.. While working on the Nuka Quest for Ivy I get.. shit I don't even know how to start to explain it. But it's like.. she is my creation, you know? And now I have to write stuff that hurts her, and it's difficult. I get upset with the things happening to her. Which is good, because the player should work to prevent them. But I know some players will try the bad options, leading to the bad endings.. and some of it is truly heart wrenching.. I try to get into her state of mind. Imagine, truly imagine, waking up suddenly in a robot body.. a pleasure object.. Imagine being aware.. but blocked. Certain lines of thoughts censored by an A.I.. whenever you get upset.. the A.I. works overtime to keep you in control.. like blockages in your very core of being. Things you KNOW are there, your true childhood, your life's experiences, but when you think about it.. it falls away as soon as it springs to mind. Imagine this same A.I. driving you to do things.. things you might not want to do. Things you might find disgusting or very bothersome, or you are just plain are not interested in. You know you don't truly want or like these things but you have a built in imperative to engage into them any way. Imagine a little girl, stuck in a dark black room, unable to see anything else but glimpses of the true world. That's when you get close to what Ivy experiences. It should also explain why she is what she is, and why she speaks in the way that she speaks. The glitches.. they're the worst. I know what's going on in her brain when they happen and it's just the saddest fucking thing. I want to provide Ivy with a final option for true release of the A.I. I want to give her the option to disable the A.I. and become her true self. But I'm truly daunted by the idea of having to add several thousand lines of dialogue to create a 'pre-aware' and 'post-aware' Ivy. So sometimes.. I'm upset with myself for putting her into the plight that she's in. What a bastard I am.. for making her go through all that. But I guess writers are often just that.. bastards.. They make you love a character, then make you sad when the character dies or hurts. So, fuck yeah, I identify with Ivy. And all of the technical stuff is metaphore for real psychological phenomena, repression of memory is extremely common, the twisting of memories more common than you know. 80% of the way that you remember your life.. really didn't happen in the way that you remember them. You've tainted these memories with your own values and morals.. you've come to see them in certain lights that might or might not be completely false. Her defense routines are her Shadow (google Carl Jung, please) which is of course strong, because of so much repression of memories and truth. Her sexual routines are.. well.. google Freud while you're at it.. It all fits and I've worked tirelessly to make it fit, crafting each sentence to make sure that it fits with her psychological profile (Based on Jung's research). 4
Reginald_001 Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 Part two of the PM I wanted to share with you, deep discussions on the background of Ivy and the Pelican King: After reading The Gulag Archipelago from Solzhenitsyn.. well humans are the true monsters, that's clear. And some of Ivy's elements definitely relate to the symbols that he crafted into the book: Fire, fire! The branches crackle and the night wind of late autumn blows the flame of the bonfire back and forth. The compound is dark: I am alone at the bonfire and I can bring it still more carpenters’ shavings. The compound here is a privileged one, so privileged that it is almost as if I were out in freedom—this is an Island of Paradise; this is the Marfino “sharashka”—a scientific institute staffed with prisoners—in its most privileged period. No one is overseeing me, calling me to a cell, chasing me away from the bonfire. I am wrapped in a padded jacket, and even then it is chilly in the penetrating wind. But she—who has already been standing in the wind for hours, her arms straight down, her head drooping, weeping, then grow-ing numb and still. And then again she begs piteously: “Citizen Chief! Forgive me! Please forgive me! I won’t do it again.” The wind carries her moan to me, just as if she were moaning next to my ear.The “citizen chief,” he said, didn’t answer her—she was being punished for making an off-hand comment after a girl escaped the gulag by “slipping down a ravine.”One of her fellow Gulag prisoners, upon hearing about the escape, exclaimed: “Oh, I hope they catch her, the [expletive]! I hope they take scissors and—clip, clip—take off all her hair in front of the line-up!” That’s how they punished women in the Gulag system. The girl who was punished by being forced to stand in the cold at the gatehouse didn’t agree. As Solzhenitsyn wrote:But the girl who was now standing outside the gatehouse in the cold had sighed and said instead: “At least she can have a good time out in freedom for all of us!” The jailer overheard what she said, and now she was being punished; everyone else had been taken off to the camp, but she had been set outside there to stand “at attention” in front of the gatehouse. This had been at 6 P.M. and it was now 11 P.M. She tried to shift from one foot to another, but the guard stuck out his head and shouted: “Stand at attention, whore, or else it will be worse for you!” And now she was not moving, only weeping: “Forgive me, Citizen Chief! Let me into the camp, I won’t do it any more!”He notes that no one else at the camp would say anything, adding the camp guards wanted to “teach her a lesson.”He continues:Such a straw-blond, naïve, uneducated slip of a girl! She had been imprisoned for some spool of thread. What a dangerous thought you expressed there, little sister! Before adding:To that flame and to you, girl, I promise: the whole wide world will read about you.Solzhenitsyn spent about eight years in prisons and Gulag camps; he was arrested in 1945 for criticizing Stalin privately in letters to a friend. After publishing the “Gulag Archapelago” in 1973, he was charged with treason and was exiled from the Soviet Union. The book went on to win a Nobel Peace Prize. The Pelican King is directly related as a personal release for me after reading this horror of humanity. In it, I imagined how Nature stood up to us in the form of birds who drew a line. It has nothing to do with Ivy in a way that there are correlations with the symbols there.. well... not initially. The Pelican King is Ivy's attempt at describing her psychological state to the player. The battles that the Pelicans go through are direct symbols for the battles inside of her psyche. Pelicans are also known to be a symbol for Motherly Love. In Christian Iconography, Pelicans are a symbol for self sacrifice, and Christ's sacrifice and resurrection. (I am not religious, b.t.w.) "Fragile bird flesh against metal machines" A direct symbol for Ivy's biology v.s. A.I. 'issues'.. It was personal release for me, because well.. after reading the Gulag Archipelago.. you hate humanity a little bit. It cannot be helped. It's simply because the horrors in the gulag camp are so unimaginable and described so utterly perfectly in all it's gritty detail that there are points in the book where you truly ask yourself "What is humanity's moral system worth if we allow such horrors to come to pass?" So those two tie in directly with the Pelican King's story. The torture and experimentation on the birds a metaphore for the Gulags and the rebirth if you survive them (the birds become sentient, the hero transforms after a great sorrow and fight, then emerges wiser). In the Pelican King stories, the birds yield their Shadow (again, google Carl Jung & 'Shadow') with strength and resolve because they are fully aware of their own dark side. The humans wield their Shadow ruthlessly with cowardly machines (unaware of their own dark side as we often are), so they can kill from a distance. They repress and think they are 'good' and under this guise of 'good' commit the most terrible of atrocities). "Do you ever think about the things you don't want to think about?... There could be monsters there, y'know?" Quote from Ivy goes to Nukaworld. Yes: The Pelican King stories is a direct criticism on the inability of humans (especially my own) to learn from the past; their innate talent to repress anything they do not want to think about, thereby feeding their Shadow and become more dangerous to themselves and those around them. It was also a direct exploration of my own Shadow, or rather.. the very itsy bitsy beginning of that journey.. 4
MrCruelJohn Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Ivy is a therapy doll. For many of us. About spirit. Overcoming not just obstacles of life we encounter, but cutting off the chains of the past. For many of us, a shared journey. John 2
fred200 Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 All I ask is that you and Chic Geek eventually finish. Take your time - but finish. I can think of a good half dozen current mods that just sort of fell into the abyss.
Reginald_001 Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 I've managed to get some sleep and have added quite some stuff last night and this morning. Walking with Ivy around the commonwealth I found some things she repeats a little too much like 'Hey, I think I forgot something back home'.. so I've decided to add another 500 idles for common situations & idles into her base ESM. I have also decided to add 250 idles for each different outcome of 'Ivy goes to Nuka World' (another 750 in total as there are 3 different endings to the quest). These 250 idles will likely be replacing other 250 already existing idles. This to reflect some of her personal growth after the quest was done. I have also decided that her Memory Archives will reflect the outcome of the quest, meaning that depending on her outcome, some of her entries in the memory archive will be replaced for other ones. 3 lore tapes were added to the MedTek lab, another 3 at other locations in the Commonwealth, providing more background on Ivy and Dr. Stein's past to fit with the Ivy goes to Nuka World quest. Craftable NX-2C controller holotapes were added with different prefixes, for the keyword users among you ( "-NX-2C Controller Holotape" and "(Settings) NX-2C Controller Holotape"). 4
Reginald_001 Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 I've been going over Ivy's base ESM the entire morning now. I've been separating idles and dialogue and ordering it by the level of interaction that you've had with her. Where in her original build, her deep thoughts and shallow funny stuff was spread out across her entire line of dialogue, her dialogue will now 'unpeel' even more like an onion than it did before. The more she trusts the player, the deeper thoughts she will allow herself to express. This will make it so the initial phases with Ivy will very much feel like a fun romantic ride, the 'in love' phase, after which Ivy will learn to trust the player more and more, and more and more of her real thoughts will surface. This happens pretty gradually and takes quite a long time to unravel (e.g. some of her deeper dialogue only plays after more than 100 times of speaking with her). I've begun the process of adding more idles to her base ESM and have added around 60 so far to complete her personality. When I'm done it should ensure unique content for Ivy through an entire play through of around 60 hours before stuff starts to annoyingly repeat itself. When I'm done with upgrading the base ESM mod, I'll continue to finish the Nuka Quest. The Nuka Quest storyline has now been entirely laid out and agreed upon with Chic (I wanted her blessing on the 3 different endings before proceeding to write the final dialogue). Those players that decide to play the 'evil' ending are in for a real shocker with real consequences... have your savegames ready if you decide to go that route! 4
MeJimmy Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Thank you for that discussion of Ivy and the Pelican King. I wondered what that story was about. It just never made sense to me until you explained it.

urbanoantigo Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Ual, this great work gets bigger and bigger. Very nice to know of these details that described, is a really live character, end variations make even richer the experience. Innocent question, the IVY 5.0 (if it will be) will come in the format: 1 - Ivy Base file with Audio Chick (I imagine it will no longer come with the audio option of the voice synthesizer) 2 - Pornography Museum 3 - dlc nukaword or... will it all be in a single file of version 5? Already thinking here how to organize me for translation It was very interesting to know better about the metaphors of the Pelican King as an attempt to express Ivy's repressed copscience, This would give a great movie, or series or who knows a book or comics ... I still like to think of the idea that one day Ivy would have an expanded universe beyond Falout It really is something fantastic, and these updates for the next version are going to be quite a jump, I think that there is nothing so deep, complex and fluid in other characters of the falout, even counting Danze, Nick or Dimas that I think are the richest stories of the game. Actually, what she described as inserting fragilities about Ivy and that she might suffer gives another dimension to her relationship and "humanity", is something I think with longing and fear, it will require much more attention and care, like any relationship. Something curious: today for the first time something very unusual happened, I entered with ivi in a small buker and she behind me said something like "... Let's have sex., I'll undress now" and I turn and look at her naked, I took a I've been playing with her for many months and it was the first time something like that happened, incredible. (I confess that I did a new installation of the game and of the mods and without the AFT ...) To talk about this incredible work of Ivy, I am speechless... 1
Reginald_001 Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 All mods will be released separately, or as one big download pack. Ivy's base mod as ESM. The DLC's and add-ons as ESP plugins, dependents on the ESM. Due to the ESM load order, likely some patches will have to be made for certain mods and compatibility issues, We'll jump off that bridge when we get there. I have been experimenting today with making own followerscript for the Extended Lore Project. It went far quicker and easier than I expected and I will take it further. I am starting to see possibilities to reuse the work for Ivy so I can step away from the companion and follower framework. I'll have some more digging to do but if I can make it happen, I will. In that case multi follower mods will not be an issue any longer for Ivy, even though I still despise them. They are not the only reason for me to be investigating this though. I'd like to have Ivy along for the Robot DLC, together with ADA so I'm looking into this possibility actually only for that reason. If I do make it happen, it will mean a lot of banter with other companions for Ivy... Other than that, no updates. I'm working on exporting all new dialogue into some kind of readable format for Chic to use, so she can start preparing for the recording sessions. 19 hours ago, Sevatt said: Like Takahashi's defense mechanism? But Takahashi is a victim of his own doing.. thinking he was some kind of master hacker he thought he could transfer his consciousness into a protectron, not realizing the thing wouldn't have enough computing power to hold all of his memories. By the time his consciousness was transferred, there wasn't enough left to transfer back into his already dead body. 3

Tinkering Solderbro Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Question to add to FAQ What is the body and face resolution for Ivy's textures? Have CBBE with bodyslide and all bodyslide clothing appear with a different skin color as the head. Seems that something is 2K and the other 4K. Where does the mod pick the textures from?
